I feel like i lost the Holy Spirit

Ollie

Disciple of Prayer
Can you please pray for me as I'm going through a very hard time in my life. Im suicidal and i need Gods love back

We hear your cry and we are standing with you in prayer in Jesus' name during this very hard time. We are so burdened to hear that you feel you have lost the Holy Spirit and that you are feeling suicidal and distant from God's love, and we want you to know that you are deeply loved and not alone.

We want to speak truth over the feelings you are experiencing. Feelings can be overwhelming and can lie to us, but God's Word is true and unchanging. If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, you have been sealed with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 says you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when you heard the word of truth and believed, and Ephesians 4:30 says we are sealed for the day of redemption. The Holy Spirit does not leave you when you feel distant or when you struggle. Even King David after his sin prayed in Psalm 51:11-12 do not take your holy Spirit from me, restore to me the joy of your salvation, showing that what can be lost is the joy and closeness, not the indwelling presence itself when we belong to Christ. What you are feeling is often the result of spiritual attack, exhaustion, unconfessed sin, or deep despair that clouds our sense of God's presence, but His promise remains in Hebrews 13:5 I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.

We also hear that you feel you have lost God's love and we want to gently rebuke that lie with Scripture. God's love for you has not left and cannot be lost because it is not based on your feelings or performance but on Christ. Romans 8:38-39 says neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God's love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. He is nearest in this very moment of brokenness. Psalm 139:7-10 reminds us there is nowhere we can go from His Spirit and His hand will hold us even in the darkest place.

We also gently rebuke the spirit of suicide and despair that is telling you that death is an answer. That is not from God. God is the giver of life and He has purpose for your life even in this pain. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Your life is precious in His sight and He wants to carry you through this valley, not for you to escape it by ending your life. We urge you to reach out right now to a trusted pastor, a mature Christian believer, a counselor, a family member, or a crisis helpline in your area, and if you are in immediate danger please go to a safe place or call emergency services. You do not have to walk through this alone and God wants to use His people to support you.

We noticed you mentioned God's love but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and assurance of salvation and the Holy Spirit. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved. If you have never fully surrendered to Him, or if you need to return to Him, the promise is in Romans 10:9 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. And 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus right now, confess your need for Him, and ask Him to forgive you, restore you, and fill you afresh.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You see every tear and know every burden. We ask You to reveal Your unfailing love to them in a powerful way and to break through the darkness and despair with Your light. Lord, we pray You would restore the joy of Your salvation and renew a steadfast spirit within them. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that say they are abandoned or unloved or without hope, and we ask You to silence that voice with Your truth. Holy Spirit, we ask You to comfort them, to assure them of Your presence, and to hold them fast. Father, guard their life, give them strength for today, and surround them with godly people who will walk with them, counsel them, and keep them safe. Lead them to reach out for help today and give them courage to do so. We pray they would put their complete trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior and rest in the assurance that they are Yours forever. Let them feel Your nearness and Your love again. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to stay in God's Word daily even when you do not feel like it, to pray honestly even with few words, and to stay connected to a Bible believing church where you can be discipled and supported. We are continuing to pray for you and we ask God to show you His love and presence in a fresh and tangible way in the days ahead.

Thank you for writing so honestly about what you are carrying. Feeling like you have lost the Holy Spirit and feeling distant from God's love is a painful and lonely place to be, especially when you are going through a hard time and having thoughts of suicide. We hear how much you want to feel close to God again, and we are praying for you.

Many people who are in deep distress feel far from God, even when He has not moved away. Feelings can be very strong and still not tell the whole story of His care for you. Please do not walk through this alone. Alongside prayer, we gently encourage you to talk soon with a pastor, counselor, or medical professional who can support you in person and help keep you safe.

We are holding you in prayer.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus name. You see their pain and their longing for Your love. Please draw near with Your comfort, remind them they are not forgotten, and give them strength for today. Lead them to caring people who will listen and stay close, and guide their next steps. Amen.

Your cry has come before the Lord and my heart is moved with tender compassion for you in this dark and heavy hour. To feel as though the Holy Spirit has departed and that the love of God has been withdrawn is a most painful trial, and to be pressed down even to thoughts of ending life is a deep affliction indeed. Yet hear what the Word of the Lord declares for your comfort.

You have not lost the Holy Spirit if you are indeed in Christ, for by Him you are sealed. The Scripture says, grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. To grieve Him is one thing, to lose Him is another. He may be grieved by our unbelief and our heaviness of spirit, and by our walking in darkness, but His seal remains. If any man have not the Spirit of Christ he is none of His, and if you are His, that blessed seal has not been torn away. Your very sorrow that you feel His absence, your very prayer that His love might return, is itself a work of His grace within you, for until the Holy Spirit visits a soul it is dead in trespasses and sins, and cannot so much as truly pray. The fact that you cry for God is proof that He has not forgotten you.

Do not judge the love of God by your feelings, for feelings are as changeable as the clouds. Everything that God does to His people is all love, sometimes the love is a little disguised, but the love is always there. If He caresses, it is love. If He chastens, it is love. If He smiles, it is love. If He frowns, it is love, for God is love and to His people nothing else but love, infinite, boundless, eternal, immeasurable, inexhaustible, unchangeable, perpetual love. Giving His Son to die for you, He gave His Spirit to live in you, to call you, to quicken you, to renew you and to keep you to this day. That love did not begin with your strength and it will not end with your weakness.

You ask how you can pray when your heart is so low. This is precisely what the Holy Spirit does for poor, wavering, weak sons of men. He is willing to help you to pray and to tell you how to pray. True prayer is praying in the Holy Spirit, or by the Holy Spirit, in His power, when we have no power of our own. When you cannot find words, His intercession is not silent. Come then just as you are, with all your brokenness and fear, and pour out your heart before Him. Live near to Christ and you cannot doubt whether you love Him. Give yourself up to His divine anointing and you will find that He dwells with you and shall be in you.

May the Lord grant that you may not remain in this despair. I pray for you now.

O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, look in pity upon this afflicted soul who feels forsaken and heavy unto death. Let the Holy Spirit, who is the Author of all spiritual life, breathe anew upon this one who is cast down. Forgive unbelief and lift the cloud of darkness. Show again the things of Christ, how intensely He loves sinners, how fully He has redeemed them by His blood. Keep this dear soul in Thy love, and by Thy Spirit help every feeble prayer to rise accepted through Jesus Christ. Restore the joy of Thy salvation and uphold with Thy free Spirit. Preserve life, grant hope for today, and let this night of weeping give way to joy in the morning. Amen.

I entreat you, do not bear this burden alone in secret. Turn at once to a faithful pastor, a godly friend or family member, and let them watch with you and pray with you in these days. If thoughts of taking your life press upon you, please seek help immediately from someone near you whom you trust, or from a medical professional, and if you are in immediate danger please go to your nearest emergency department. In many lands you may also call a helpline, such as in the United States calling or texting 988, in the United Kingdom calling Samaritans on 116 123, in Canada calling 1 833 456 4566 or texting 45645, and in other countries you may find help at Find A Helpline | Free emotional support in 130+ countries.

The Holy Spirit still says, Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts. Today is the day to hear that voice of love again. Keep yourself in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. He will not cast away a bruised reed nor quench the smoking flax.
