Your cry has been heard and it has been carried before the Lord in prayer. To feel as though you are drowning, alone even in a crowded room, drained in mind and body and spirit and unable to go on, is a heavy and painful place to be. Thank you for speaking it so honestly. You are not unseen in this.

Our Lord Jesus knows this kind of loneliness. It is written of Him, you shall leave me alone and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. He was left alone just when as a man He most needed human sympathy, forsaken by those nearest to Him, and He entered into the sorrow of loneliness that He might understand yours. There are sufferings where no fellow creature can fully enter, when faith itself has to fight for its very existence and the soul is in deep conflict. He has been there. His loneliness did not destroy Him, and He will not let yours destroy you, for He lives to be with His people.

When your heart is overwhelmed within you, He can lead you to the Rock that is higher than you are. You do not have to climb to it in your own strength. And when the bed grows hard and you sink back as if you were about to die of exhaustion, underneath are the everlasting arms. You may sink back. Those arms will not give way. They have held countless weary souls before you and they will hold you.

Would you let Him carry you now. Come to Him just as you are, without strength, without words if words fail, and tell Him all. There is salvation and rest through Jesus Christ alone, who bore our sins and our sorrows and who invites all who are weary and heavy laden to come to Him. Ask Him not only to lift the weight but to be your life and your hope. He does not turn away a broken heart.

In these days, do not walk this path alone. Please reach out today to a faithful pastor or a trusted Christian friend or family member and let them know how low you feel. If you have a doctor or counselor, speak with them also, for the Lord often gives help through His people and through wise care for body and mind. If you ever feel unsafe with your thoughts, please go at once to someone near you or to a helpline or emergency help in your area and stay with another person until help is with you.

We are praying for you, that the Lord will show you His nearness, that He will give you rest in the midst of exhaustion, that He will lift you out of this overwhelming place and set your feet upon the Rock, and that day by day He will renew your strength as you lean upon His everlasting arms.

Father, look in mercy upon this weary one who feels alone and drained and unable to continue. Let them know they are not alone, for Thou art with them. Lead them to the Rock that is higher, and let them feel underneath the everlasting arms. Draw them to Jesus Christ, give them rest, give them hope, give them help that they can see and touch through Thy people, and keep them through this dark valley until light comes again. In Jesus name, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have put into words a very heavy burden, feeling lost and low, as if you are drowning, alone even around others, and drained in mind and body and spirit to the point where nothing seems possible. That kind of exhaustion is real, and you are not unseen in it. God sees you in this crowded loneliness, and He does not turn away from a heart that feels broken and empty.

Scripture speaks to this very place. The apostle says we are pressed on every side yet not crushed, perplexed yet not driven to despair, pursued yet not forsaken. To be pressed and perplexed is not a sign that God has left you. It is the common experience of those through whom God still shows His power, because the work of holding us up belongs to Him and not to our own strength.

One of the greatest dangers in such a low season is not the weariness itself but despair. To fall or to fail or to feel unable to go on does not destroy a person so much as giving up hope does. If a person stumbles, repentance and turning to God can quickly bring healing, but despair keeps a person from even reaching for that remedy. The enemy never gives up hope for our ruin, and it would be a great sorrow if we gave up hope for our own salvation while he does not give up on our destruction. As long as it is called Today, as long as we are alive in this world, there is hope. God has given us that Today so that no one needs to conclude that his case is hopeless.

Christ Himself began His teaching with this promise, blessed are the poor in spirit. He was not speaking of mere words or outward actions, but of a heart that is awestruck and trembles at His word, a contrite and humble heart. God says He looks to the one who is lowly and quiet and takes His word seriously, and that a contrite spirit is a sacrifice He will not despise. You do not need to come to Him with strength or with perfect feelings. You can come exactly as you are, low and honest and in need, and that lowliness is the doorway to His mercy. To be sober minded in this sense is simply to keep the mind safe by refusing to think more highly of ourselves than we ought, and also refusing to believe the lie that we are beyond His help. It is to say, I am weak, but God is able to make me stand.

He is able to make you stand even when you feel you cannot stand at all. Your standing does not finally depend on your grip on Him but on His grip on you, and He is the Lord who cares for His own servants.

Please do not carry this alone. The call to exhort one another daily while it is called Today means we need each other. Reach out to a faithful pastor or a trusted mature believer in your local church and let them know how drained you feel. Keep a simple rhythm of prayer, even short honest prayers, and reading a small portion of Scripture each day, asking God for mercy. If you have not already, speak with a pastor or counselor who can walk with you closely and help you get the care you need.

I am praying for you, that God who is rich in mercy will lift the weight you feel, quiet the sense of drowning with His presence, and renew your strength day by day. May He show you that you are not forsaken, that in Christ alone there is forgiveness and life, and that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to hold you through this valley until you can again see His light.
