Homeless

We join with you in lifting up your relative before the throne of grace and we thank you for bringing this burden to us so we can seek God's will together in Jesus' name.

Our hearts are moved with compassion for your relative in this difficult season of living in a homeless shelter. We know that our God sees, He cares deeply, and He is near to those in hardship. We are reminded that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. Even when a person feels forgotten or without a home, God has not forgotten them, for God sets the lonely in families, He brings out the prisoners with singing, Psalm 68:6.

We pray for provision and protection over your relative. We ask the Lord to supply daily needs, to provide safety within the shelter, to open doors for stable housing and for dignified work, and to surround your relative with people who will show the love of Christ. We remember the promise that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19. We also pray for hope and for renewal of strength, that your relative would not be overcome by fear or despair, for the Lord says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10.

We also want to gently encourage you in this, that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. And There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by placing our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly before Him. We pray that both you and your relative know this saving hope, for it is the foundation of all true comfort and restoration.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We lift up this dear relative who is without a home and living in a shelter. Lord, You see where he or she sleeps each night, You know every worry and every need. We ask You to be their shelter and refuge, to keep them safe from harm, to provide for food, clothing, and health, and to lead them to stable housing in Your perfect timing. Comfort their heart, lift any shame or hopelessness, and remind them that they are deeply loved and valued by You. Provide godly community and wise counselors to come alongside them, and give them strength to take the next steps toward restoration. Work also in the heart of this loved one who has brought this request, give them wisdom to encourage and help in practical ways as You said inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me, Matthew 25:40, and give them peace as they trust You with their relative's future. Above all, draw this relative close to Jesus, that they may know Him as Savior and find an eternal home in You. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to stay connected with your relative, to pray continually, to offer practical help as you are able, and to point them to the hope found in God's Word and in a local Bible believing church where they can find fellowship and support. God is faithful and He hears our prayers, and we will continue to stand with you in prayer for provision, restoration, and peace.

We appreciate you reaching out to share about your relative. Watching someone you care about live in a shelter can leave you feeling helpless and worried, and it means a lot that you are staying connected in prayer.

We are praying for your relative's safety, dignity and daily needs, and for steady encouragement in what can be a very uncertain time. We are also praying for you as you care from a distance, for wisdom to know how best to support and for peace as you trust God with what you cannot control.

One gentle step that often helps is to keep a consistent, caring connection without pressure, just letting your relative know you are thinking of them. If they are open to it, you might ask if they have someone at the shelter, like a case manager or advocate, who is helping them think through next steps and available support in the community. You can also let them know you are willing to help look into local resources alongside them if they want that.

Father, we bring this loved one before You and ask for Your protection and provision each day, for rest, for kindness from those nearby, and for guidance toward stable housing and supportive help. Give our friend wisdom and grace as they love their relative well. We trust this person into Your care in Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your request and we join you in earnest prayer for your relative in this time of great trial and homelessness.

What a mercy it is that when earthly shelter fails or is reduced to the kindness of strangers, there remains a shelter which never fails. The Psalmist declares, He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings shall you trust. The Lord compares Himself to a hen covering her brood, giving not only shelter from the storm but warmth and comfort and repose beneath His wings. We pray that your loved one may know this covering even while dwelling in a shelter provided by man, that in the midst of uncertainty and want, he may find himself drawn under the wings of the Almighty where there is true safety.

We pray that the Lord in His providence will provide for every need, for daily bread, for protection, for a more settled habitation in His good time, and for kind and wise helpers to come alongside. We pray also for comfort of heart and for hope not to be lost, and above all that this season of affliction may be made the means of leading the soul to seek that better provision which is found only in Christ. To be born into the family of God is a dignity far beyond any earthly standing, and it brings with it present covenant provision and the promise of future infinite bliss. May your relative be taught by the Spirit to seek first that heavenly shelter, the salvation which is through Jesus Christ alone, for without Him no shelter of stone or roof can give peace to the soul.

Let us pray together. O gracious Father, Thou seest this one of whom we speak, Thou knowest his name and his need and every sorrow of his heart. Spread Thy wings over him and be his refuge. Provide for him according to Thy riches, keep him from harm, give him favour in the eyes of those who seek to help him, and open a door for his feet to be established. Work in his heart by Thy grace, that he may look to Christ and live, and find in Him both pardon and home. Comfort also the heart of this dear one who has interceded for him, and give peace in committing a beloved relative into Thy faithful hands. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

We will continue to remember this need before the throne of grace, and we encourage you to continue to show the love of Christ in word and deed as the Lord gives you opportunity, pointing your relative ever to the one true and abiding Shelter.

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right Hand" (Isaiah 41:10)

I prayed with you for this, in Jesus' powerful Name, Amen.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight".
