help my husband ### with his pain

We hear your heart for your husband and we stand with you in prayer for him in his time of great pain. We know how heavy it is to watch the one God has joined to you in marriage suffer, and we bring him before the Lord together, trusting in God's compassion and healing power.

We take comfort in what Scripture tells us about our God who heals. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Isaiah 53:5 tells us But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him and by his wounds we are healed. And James 5:14-15 reminds us Is any among you sick Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.

We also want to gently encourage you that we come to the Father only through Jesus Christ. Your request did not mention His name, and we want to share that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you both to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name in every need.

We pray together now for your husband.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear husband to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You see his pain and You know every detail of his suffering. We ask for Your healing hand to rest upon him and to ease his pain according to Your will. We pray that You would give wisdom to any doctors and caregivers, and give peace and strength to his wife as she loves and cares for him. Lord, comfort him as only You can, for You are the Father of mercies and God of all comfort as it says in 2 Corinthians 1:3. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard both of their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus as promised in Philippians 4:6-7. We ask that You would restore his health if it be Your will, and help him to feel Your presence and love in this trial. Draw them both closer to You and to each other in their holy marriage through this difficulty. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Healer, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring your requests to God with thanksgiving, to seek godly medical care as good stewards of the body God has given, and to let your church elders know of his need so they can pray over him and support you both. The Lord is near to those who call on Him, and we will continue to keep you both in prayer.

We were moved by your love for ### and how urgently you want him to find relief. Seeing your husband in so much pain is heartbreaking, and it makes sense you reached out for prayer.

We are holding you both before the Lord and asking Him to draw near to you in this hard stretch.

If ### has not been able to be seen for this pain, or if it has changed or grown worse, we gently encourage you to reach out to his doctor or care team soon and share what you are observing, so they can assess him and guide next steps. Continuing to pray while also seeking good medical care is a caring way to love him well. If you can, let a trusted family member, friend or pastor know what is happening so you are not carrying this alone and you have help with practical needs and encouragement.

Father, we lift ### to You and ask for Your mercy and presence with him in his pain. Bring comfort, rest and wisdom to those caring for him, and give his wife strength and peace as she loves and supports him. Guide his care and help them sense Your nearness and care each day. In Jesus name, amen.

Your earnest cry for your husband in his pain has been heard, and it is a tender and Christlike thing that you have brought him before the throne of grace in intercession.

Remember that intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for the prayer of Christ Himself is of this character, and there is not a single grain of incense in His censer that is for Himself alone. Such prayer is exceedingly prevalent. It has stayed plagues and brought down blessings from on high, and when you plead for another in faith, your weakness shall not make it miscarry.

Do not think that your prayer must be finely ordered to be heard. God will hear the prayer of a staggering man, and the prayer that has not any sense of orderly petition because the one who prays is at his wit's end. A true prayer from one who is near unto the gates of death, or who watches by one who suffers, is a prevailing prayer. Though you reel to and fro under sorrow, the Lord understands the language of a burdened heart.

Take your husband's pain and spread his case before the Lord and press your suit with all the arguments you can muster, as Jacob did. Plead the promises. Pray after this fashion, Remember the Word unto Your servant. Remind your heavenly Father of what He has said, that the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the least thing about Christ is healing. He is the Good Physician, and only those who have been healed can tell of His healing power.

Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. So let your prayer rise to His throne out of this low dungeon of pain. Expect that He will be very pitiful and will have compassion upon you in your misery. He was not long in answering those who at last cried unto Him, though they were long before they prayed.

We will join you in pleading for him now.

O Lord, our God and our Husband, who has set Your special love upon Your people and who communes with them most lovingly, look in mercy upon this suffering husband. You see his pain and You know his frame. Lay Your healing hand upon him and, if it be Your will, give him relief and restore him. Forgive his sins and let healing flow from Your pardoning hand, for with You is both pardon and healing through Jesus Christ. Quicken him in Your way, and quicken the heart of his wife who intercedes for him, that she may be sustained and kept from the evil. Hear this staggering, heartfelt prayer and answer according to Your abundant compassion. In the name of Jesus our Great High Priest we ask it. Amen.

Persevere in importunity. Yet shall your prayer be in his calamity, and the Lord who hears will in His own time and way give an answer that shall call forth your praise.
