Your honesty before the Lord and before each other is a precious step, and I thank God that He has brought this sin into the light so it can be confessed and forsaken. What your husband has done in confessing and repenting is exactly what Scripture calls us to do, and when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us because Jesus bore our sins fully. Under the old sacrifices sin was only covered for a time, but the blood of Jesus puts sin away completely, for He who knew no sin was made to be sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
The law itself is not sin, but it shows us what sin is. It reveals that sin is not only in the outward act but in the desire of the heart, and it helps us see how sinful sin truly is. That is why the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment, and why He brings hidden things to light, not to shame us, but to lead us to repentance and to freedom. The wages of sin is death, and sin when left alone brings destruction, yet the promise for those who are in Christ is that sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. That does not mean we will never be tempted, but it means we do not have to remain ruled by the flesh. There is victory through Jesus.
I want to gently encourage you about your daughter. In this fallen world sickness and suffering entered through sin in general, and death passed to all because all have sinned, but Scripture does not teach that every fever or pain in a child is a direct judgment from God for a parent's specific sin. Teething with its pain, swelling, sleeplessness and loss of appetite is a normal, though distressing, part of a little one's growth. God loves your daughter deeply, and He hears your prayers for her healing and comfort. It is right to pray for her complete healing and protection, and it is also right to seek the practical care that helps ease her discomfort, trusting that God is good and compassionate toward her. Your children are holy in the Lord's sight within a believing home, and God desires to guard and keep your whole family under His care.
For your marriage, hold fast to what God has established. A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives, and marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. Within that covenant, God intends sexual faithfulness and mutual love, to keep you both from sexual immorality. The husband and wife belong to each other, rendering to one another what is due in love, not withholding except by mutual agreement for a time. When a husband loves his wife as Christ loved the church, and a wife respects and honors her husband, the home is strengthened and protected. Your husband's repentance is a foundation to rebuild trust, and ongoing honesty, accountability, and walking in the light together will help him walk in complete deliverance and not return to the same pattern.
I am praying with you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for Your mercy that led this husband to confession and repentance. Wash him clean by the blood of Christ, forgive his sin fully, and set him free from every hold of that sin. Let sin have no dominion over him, but fill him with Your Spirit and give him strength to walk in purity and faithfulness. Heal and restore this marriage, teach them both to love and serve one another in holiness, and guard their home. Lay Your hand of protection over this family and over their little daughter, bring her comfort, relieve her pain and swelling, restore her appetite and sleep, and let her grow strong and well. Keep them all in Your peace, and help them to walk together in victory over sin through Christ our Lord. Amen.
