Your honest prayer about your hair is heard and understood, and it is right to bring this concern to the Lord.
Scripture does say that if a woman has long hair it is a glory to her, for her hair is given to her for a covering. That is why you treasure it, and God understands that you value what He has given you. At the same time the Bible reminds us that people look on the outward appearance but the Lord looks on the heart. What He counts most is what is in your heart toward Him, your love for Him and your desire to honor Him, even when you cannot control what happens to your body.
You are worried about losing what feels like part of your glory, and there is a story in Scripture that speaks to that fear. When Samson was shaved his strength and consecration seemed lost and he was left helpless, yet the record says his hair began to grow again. In that small detail we see the grace of God, that even after failure and loss He can bring restoration. It is a picture of the gospel, that God does not abandon us when we feel stripped or diminished.
There is also the reminder of the man who lost everything, his possessions, his family, his health, until he was brought down to the bare consciousness of his being, with nothing left but life itself before God. That story teaches us that while outward things can be shaken, our life and hope before God remain.
The Lord also cares about the very details you are anxious about. Jesus said the hairs of your head are numbered, and when Paul was on a storm tossed ship he told those with him to be of good cheer, that not a hair of their head would perish, for God had promised to bring them safely through. God is both spiritual and practical, and He invites you to trust Him with your body as well as your soul.
I will pray for you that God will guard your health as you make decisions about this medication, that He will give you wisdom and guide your doctors, that you will be able to care for your body with good nutrition and stewardship, and that whether your hair remains thick or thins for a season, you will know your value and glory are secure in Christ. May He give you peace, keep your heart fixed on Him, and let you see that your true covering and beauty is found first in His love for you.
