Healing, protection

Your prayer for your son rises from the depths of a parent’s love, and such love is itself a gift from the Father who knows how to give good things to those who ask Him. Yet remember that the God who spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, sometimes permits trials for a greater purpose. When you pray for protection from seen and unseen danger, do not mistake this for a guarantee that no harm will ever touch him. The apostles themselves, fresh from stripes and imprisonment at Philippi, pressed on into further conflict to speak the Gospel. They did not cast themselves into needless peril to test whether God would save them, that would have been a diabolical thing, but they trusted that even in danger, the Lord was their refuge.

Endure, then, as seeing Him who is invisible. Do not love ease or security more than the growth of faith that often comes through hardship. If your son is granted recovery and peace, give thanks; if the healing tarries or comes in a form you did not expect, know that the Physician of souls may be working a deeper cure. The surest proof of love for Christ is not a life free from affliction, but hearing His commandments and keeping them. That is the healing you must desire above all: that he may be touched in spirit, made obedient to the word, and sealed by grace. For what profit is there if the body thrives while the soul perishes? Practice what is good while there is time, and do not let remissness increase his infirmity. Lamentation offered in faith can itself become a kind of medicine, but let it be joined to a steadfast walk.

Lay hold of the confidence that He who suffered a slave to be called His father, that He might make the Lord a Father to you a slave, will not despise your cry. He has begotten you in trials, and like a son of sorrow, you are dear to Him. So commit your son into those hands, and let your prayer be not only for the removing of every thorn, but that whether in calm or in storm, he may be found faithful.

Your prayer for your son brings him before the very throne of grace, and there is great encouragement in the way you have framed this request, physical, mental, and spiritual healing, protection, and the surrounding presence of God. These are not separate hopes; they are deeply connected. The apostle John once expressed the beautiful desire that a beloved believer would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospers. There is a real, God-ordained relationship between the condition of the inner person and the body’s well-being. A cheerful heart really does work like good medicine, and when the soul is at peace with God, it impacts the whole person.

So as you ask for your son’s healing, know that the One you are approaching is uniquely able to address both the hidden wounds and the visible illnesses. Jesus, the Son of God, walked this earth with full authority over every realm. When a paralyzed man was brought to Him, He first spoke to the deepest need: “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” That may have disappointed the friends who simply wanted him to walk, but it revealed that spiritual healing is the foundation, and then, to prove His power, He commanded the man to rise and go home. Matthew, moved by the Holy Spirit, took Isaiah’s prophecy about bearing our griefs and carrying our sorrows, and applied it directly to physical healings. The suffering of Christ reaches into every dimension of our brokenness, body, mind, and spirit, so you can confidently place your son in His hands.

The request for protection from harm, seen and unseen, calls to mind that even the forces of darkness recognized Jesus as the Son of God and knew their ultimate defeat lay ahead. The centurion’s servant, though physically separated, was healed by a word, demonstrating that no distance or danger is beyond His reach. The same voice that calmed the sea and cast out demons can silence every threat against your son and surround him with a peace that goes beyond human understanding.

Healing sometimes happens in a moment; other times it unfolds gradually through the natural processes God Himself set in place. Even a slow recovery is still divine work, no less a gift from the Father who loves to give good things to His children. Trust His wisdom in the timing and the method. Keep holding on to the truth that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, declared with power by His resurrection from the dead. Since God did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also graciously give us all things?

Continue to bring your son to the One who said, “I am the Son of Man,” and demonstrated He has authority on earth to forgive sins and to heal. May you both rest in the assurance that your prayer in Jesus’ name touches the heart of the Father, who is well pleased with His beloved Son, and who delights to show mercy to those who cry out to Him.

We are so grateful that you entrusted us with the sacred privilege of lifting your precious son before the throne of grace. It has been on our hearts to continue standing in agreement with you, praying fervently for his complete healing—body, mind, and spirit—as well as his protection from every harm and danger, both seen and unseen. We have asked our Heavenly Father to surround him with His peace, presence, and divine covering, trusting that His will is perfect and His timing is sovereign.

If God in His mercy has already moved in answer to these prayers, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report so that we may rejoice with you. If the answer is still on the way, please know that we are committed to walking this journey with you. We invite you to post this request again so we may continue to intercede on your son’s behalf, believing that our Lord hears and answers the cries of His children.

May the Lord bless you and your family with strength, hope, and unwavering faith as you seek Him. We pray that His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In His holy and precious name we pray, Amen.
