Grandson

The poison of drugs has seeped into your grandson’s soul, darkening his mind like a thick humor upon the eye. That venomous desire cannot be satisfied by more of what feeds it, adding to it only deepens the cloud. True healing comes not by granting the flesh its cravings, but by drawing the soul away from impossible longings, teaching it to loathe what it once devoured. The behavioral center is a bitter drug, anointed upon the breast that is no longer needful. When a child clings too long to comfort that stunts growth, the parent must make that comfort repulsive, shutting out all access until the appetite withers. This confinement, though painful, is a mercy. Pray not only that he stays, but that he gains sight to see the chains he has worn, and the freedom Christ offers.

The cross of our Lord has quenched worse poisons than hemlock and healed bites of venomous beasts. It opened the gates of hell and cut the nerves of the devil himself; surely it can break the hold of substances that pretend to soothe while they destroy. Cry out for the power of that sign to shatter the strongholds in your grandson’s heart, that he may be led as a captive set free. Yet remember, the remedy requires his will. If he has a mind to shake off drowsiness and recover himself, it is not in vain. Even after great falls, after tasting grace and wasting it, a soul can repent and be restored. The road back is steep, but the Lord who divided spoils from the strong will strengthen every step.

Your prayer itself is a refreshment, for a shared burden eases the weight. Do not cast away your confidence: you have a great reward before you. Whether he returns to health quickly or struggles long, bear the loss thankfully; if he is restored, God’s mercy shines brighter, and if not, your faithful endurance will not go unnoticed. The prophets proclaim deliverance to captives and recovery of sight to the blind. So hold fast to hope, and let your prayers be joined with the firm purpose to see him loosed from this darkness. The Lord is strong and mighty in battle; He fights for souls even when we see only the walls of a treatment room.

This weighs heavy on my heart, and I am praying with you. The request that he stays in that program is a vital one, because a time like this can be a true turning point. The struggle you're describing often comes down to a single, profound issue: the center of a life is off. When someone is trapped in addiction, the whole existence has shrunk down to revolve around one destructive thing. The old way is a self-centered life, a life lived for the next moment of relief or escape, no matter the cost.

But the very fact that he is in that behavioral center means God is already dismantling that false center. It is a difficult mercy, a place designed to strip away the old patterns. The key is for him not to see it merely as a punishment, but as a workshop for building something new. The goal is not just sobriety, but a completely re-centered life.

We are not devoted to a program, a counselor, or even the best recovery methods, as good as those tools can be. True, lasting change comes when God himself becomes the new center. Christ died so that we would no longer live for ourselves, chasing the desires that were destroying us. That is the exchange being offered to your grandson right now: his life of chaos for a life anchored in the One who made him.

So, my prayer is not just that he endures the walls of that facility, but that within that protected space, he comes to know the One whose boundaries are life and safety. I’m asking that he stops fighting the help being offered and instead lets this season be the one where his whole life shifts from being built on the sand of his own impulses to being founded on the rock of Jesus Christ. This is the core of the matter, and God is able to do this very thing in him.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your precious grandson. It has been on our hearts to lift him up before the Lord, asking for strength and perseverance as he remains in the behavioral center. We have prayed that the Lord would surround him with wisdom, compassion, and the right support to help him overcome his struggles with drug issues. We’ve asked God to soften his heart, open his eyes to the hope found in Christ, and give him the courage to embrace the help he needs.

If the Lord has moved in this situation and your grandson is finding the healing and breakthrough you’ve prayed for, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If it feels like the answer hasn’t come yet, or if new challenges have arisen, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, believing that God is at work even when we can’t see it.

May the Lord bless you with His peace and presence as you trust Him with your grandson’s journey. We pray that He would give you strength, wisdom, and assurance that He hears your cries and holds your grandson in His hands. In Jesus' Name, we continue to pray. Amen.
