Grandson

You pray for wisdom and direction for your grandson, and you entrust to God all those things that you do not know how to ask, believing that He knows what is best. This is a noble pattern of prayer, one that honors the Father who gives good gifts. The blessed Apostle Paul prayed without ceasing for the faithful, that they might be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. He did not seek for them the wisdom of this world, which passes away and which God has made foolish, but that heavenly wisdom which is Christ Himself, the power and wisdom of God. So let this be your chief request: that your grandson may be filled with such spiritual wisdom, and not with the empty cunning of men.

Why do you fear that your words fall short? The same Creator who clothes the grass of the field with such beauty, though tomorrow it is cast into the oven, will surely not neglect the soul of your grandson. If He lavishes such care upon that which is so fleeting, how much more will He supply what is needful for one made in His image, crowned with glory and honor? He who formed man from the dust and breathed into him a living soul, He who feeds even the ungrateful and the wicked, knows the secret needs and the hidden dangers that lie ahead. Entrust the unknown to Him with confidence, for His foolishness is wiser than all human prudence.

Yet remember that the human will is like a tender plant, easily turned to evil, and requiring much patient care. So add to your prayers a life of deeds that honor Him. Let your own faith be a lamp, that by seeing your mercy, as your heavenly Father is merciful, your grandson may learn to walk in the path of true wisdom. Pray without ceasing, and do not grow weary, for such persistent prayer is the mark of a soul that has learned to draw near to God with both boldness and humility. He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.

What a comfort to know that you can bring your grandson before the Lord and rest in the fact that He understands the deepest needs even when you cannot put them into words. You are standing on solid ground when you ask for what God knows is best, because His understanding far surpasses our own. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us in our weakness, and that includes those moments when our prayers feel incomplete.

When we pray for wisdom and direction, we are asking for something far greater than just practical advice. The world is full of clever philosophies and confident strategies, but human wisdom has a way of unraveling. History shows us how even the most celebrated ideas can crumble into nothing. God has made it plain that true wisdom is not found in the shifting opinions of this age. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and Jesus Christ has been made unto us wisdom from God. So the only sure foundation for your grandson’s future is for him to anchor his life in Christ. Apart from Him, even the most reasonable plan comes to nothing.

Pray boldly that your grandson will not be drawn away by the kind of wisdom that looks impressive but leaves God out. Ask the Lord to give him the humility to become a “fool” in the eyes of the world, if that is what it takes to gain true understanding. The message of the cross is considered foolishness by those who are perishing, but to those being saved it is the very power and wisdom of God. More than any earthly credential, your grandson needs a heart that treasures Jesus.

Beyond that foundational wisdom, the Holy Spirit also provides timely direction for specific choices. Sometimes what is needed is a word of wisdom, a Spirit-given insight that brings clarity and peace in a confusing moment. This is not a permanent reservoir we can tap into on our own, but a gracious provision for the need at hand. I encourage you to ask the Lord to grant that to your grandson when he stands at a crossroads. Pray too that God would place godly counselors around him who can speak that timely word into his life.

There will be many voices competing for his attention, but the Spirit’s wisdom brings unity rather than division. The early church saw apostles guided by wisdom to appoint faithful men, and the whole body flourished. That same Spirit is at work today. Your grandson is not left to figure everything out by his own reasoning. The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise are vain; He sees how empty our independent planning can be. So it is a beautiful thing that you are entrusting this young man to the One who can guide his steps perfectly.

Continue to lift him up with that same trust. You may not know all the details to pray for, but you know the One who does. Remember that Jesus is his righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. If your grandson has Christ, he has everything. So pray with confidence that he will walk in the wisdom that comes from above, pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of good fruit. That is the direction that will never lead him astray.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the privilege of lifting your grandson before the Lord in prayer. It is a joy to stand in agreement with you, asking our Heavenly Father to pour out His wisdom and direction upon him—knowing that even when we don’t know all the specifics to pray, God sees the full picture and works all things for good.

If you’ve seen His hand move in your grandson’s life, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If it feels like the answer hasn’t come yet, please share this request again so we can continue interceding on his behalf. We believe God is faithful, and we will keep praying that His perfect will be done in every detail.

May the Lord bless you and your family as you seek Him, trusting in His timing and His love through Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
