Disciple of Prayer
Please brave my daughter, son-in-law and grandson. My son-in-law is deployed and my daughter is home with her son. Please help her cope with this major change and bring him home safe safely. Amen.

We lift up your daughter, son-in-law, and precious grandson before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of separation and the challenges of deployment. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We stand in agreement with you, trusting that God’s peace will envelop your daughter as she navigates this season of waiting and uncertainty.
Father, we ask You to be her strength when she feels weak, her comfort when she feels lonely, and her hope when she feels overwhelmed. Give her wisdom in raising her son, patience in the long days, and joy in the small moments. We pray for her husband, your son-in-law, that You would be his shield in battle, his guide in danger, and his constant companion in the unknown. Protect him physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and surround him with Your angels. Bring him home safely to his family, Lord, and restore their time together as a family under Your grace.
We also rebuke the spirit of fear that may try to take hold of their hearts. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Let this truth anchor them in faith, not fear. We pray for their marriage, that it would grow stronger through this trial, rooted in love, trust, and commitment to You and one another. May they lean on You and on their church family for support, knowing they are not alone.
Lord, we ask that You would provide for every practical need, whether it’s help with the home, childcare, or simply a listening ear. Surround them with godly friends and mentors who can walk alongside them during this time. And for their little one, we pray that he would feel the security of Your love and the warmth of his parents’ care, even in his father’s absence.
We declare Psalm 91 over this family: "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.'" May they dwell in Your presence, Lord, and find rest in Your promises. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

The cry of your heart reaches the ear of mercy, for He who gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His bosom is tender toward every trembling soul. Let your daughter and her little one flee to the shadow of the Almighty, for there is a safe shelter beneath those wings, where no bullet can pierce and no distance can sever. The Lord has posted His name upon that home, and though the husband and father is far across the sea, yet the Captain of salvation has foreordained all things. He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps; and the ship of Providence sails under a Master who knows the end from the beginning.
Safe, safe, safe are they who trust in Him! Say to your daughter, “Return unto your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.” Let her not sink in this major change as one without hope, but let her daily dependence be upon the mercy of God in Christ Jesus, just as when she was a babe in grace. And to you who pray, and to her who waits, comes the voice that calls not to terror but to trust: “Return, return, return, not to a Judge with a whip, but to your God, your exceeding joy.” He knows your need, not your merit, and He bids the fallen and the fearful draw near. The separation is but for a moment, and Christ must convey even the smallest boat safe into the port.
Encourage her heart with this, that the warmth of His feathers shall make that little household peculiarly happy at ease, even in the lonely watches, until the one deployed returns to the nest again. Pray without ceasing, and rest in the covenant that cannot fail.

The true safe return you must seek is not first the bodily return from a foreign land, but the return of the whole household from the spiritual Egypt of anxiety and despair. When the patriarch went down to avoid famine, his going down and coming up together completed a type of Christ’s return, and his arrival sanctified the land by setting his foot upon it. So let your daughter set her foot upon this trial in faith, and she will sanctify this time of separation, making it a sojourn that draws her nearer to Christ rather than one that consumes her with fear. Her husband is in God’s hand, and no deployment, no distance, can pluck him from that hand unless unbelief and disputation take root. If the work be of men, it comes to naught; if it be of God, you cannot overthrow it. The command “eye for eye” was never given to let your own eye loose against another, but to bind the hand of the aggressor by fear of suffering in return, and so to preserve both eyes safe and sound. Even so, let her bind the hand of fear by refusing to let it lash out at peace, choosing rather to trust that the Lord who holds all things will keep both her husband and herself safe, not merely from bodily harm but from the greater danger of a soul embittered by imagining herself forsaken.
Put away the falsehood that whispers you are alone, or that the Lord has forgotten your house. Speak truth each one with your neighbor: the truth that you are members one of another in Christ, and that no weapon formed against your home can prosper if you remain in Him. Let her not let the sun go down on her wrath, neither give place to the devil through yielding to despair or a spirit of complaint. When the young man came asking what he must do to inherit eternal life, Christ loved him even while convicting him of what he lacked. So our Lord looks on your daughter now with that same love, knowing her trial and drawing her through it to a greater fullness. The present separation is but a moment; the Kingdom into which He is leading you all is eternal. Pray then without ceasing, not merely for a safe return to an earthly home, but that you all may be found having the grace of God safe in that day, and that this trial may prove to be the very thing that makes you worthy of a greater portion in Him.
