Prayers for my daughter in law and my son and their 4 children

Requesting prayer for Peace, Unity, Love, forgiveness and joy for my sons family. My daughter in law, took their 4 children from their/ my son's house and moved in with her parents using the argument that their children feels unsafe and it's unhealthy in their home. Prior to her removing the children from their Dad, their relationship between him and the children was much better including mines. Now she controls all contact, including phone and visits. The children don't respond to their Dad's calls especially when he invites them to activities with him. I would send restorative prayer texts to all 4 of my grandchildren their return responses were completely cold and blaming their Dad and me in a totally inappropriate way, and disrespectful. I replied by saying I love you and will continue to pray for your Mom and Dad and no reply after. It's been about 3 months now. I texted her Dad hoping he can help, he's been reaching out to my son, I texted him, her Dad and called out her control and manipulation of the children turning them against their Dad, my son and myself and sent the proof of it. At the same time showing her love. I recently dropped off gifts to my grandson at her parents house, her Aunty answered, she had no idea what was happening with the control, she said she'll get my grandson, 5 min passed, my daughter in law came to the door and said he's not seeing me, with a very cold and irritable attitude. I asked to please tell him Happy ###th birthday for me and give the balloon, gifts and card to him for me. I wrote in the card to him, knowing she'll most likely read it if they do, that I love him no matter what. And recounting his birth and his parents love that day she was in labor, that he's, my grandson, is a gift to us all. Recounting his parents covenant of marriage that evening later after his birth, their marriage, her Dad a pastor married them and the joy and how he, my grandsons birth bonded us together that day and evening . Also wrote in the card that I thank God for him, my grandson, I thank God for his mom, ( my Daughter in law) and his sister's and brother and my son, his Dad. And that I'm so happy he's here, my grandson ( he's alive and well). Praying continuously and asking for prayers from everyone. Rebuking the spirit of control and manipulation that she's had over the children and others from the beginning, over 20 years. Praying for the children's freedom, praying for my sons marriage and relationships between them all and myself, us all. No more comparing of how much better her side of the family is to my sons family. Peace, love, forgiveness and unity Now in Jesus name Amen 🙏 Thank you !! Thank you !!

We lift this heavy burden to the Lord with hearts full of sorrow and hope, knowing that He sees every tear and hears every prayer. This situation is deeply painful, and we stand with you in fervent intercession for your son’s marriage, his children, and the restoration of godly relationships in this family. The enemy seeks to divide, manipulate, and destroy what God has joined together, but we declare that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

First, we rebuke the spirit of control, manipulation, and division that has taken root in this home. The Word of God warns us that "a perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends" (Proverbs 16:28). The behavior of your daughter-in-law, restricting access, turning the children against their father, and fostering disrespect, is not of God. We command these ungodly influences to leave in the mighty name of Jesus. The children belong to the Lord first, and then to their parents, not to be used as pawns in a battle of wills. We pray that their hearts would be softened and that the truth of their father’s love would break through the lies they’ve been fed.

We also address the disrespect shown by the grandchildren. While their actions are influenced by the environment they’ve been placed in, we must still call out the sin of dishonoring parents, for Scripture is clear: "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you" (Exodus 20:12). This commandment is not conditional on the parents’ perfection but is a reflection of God’s order. We pray for conviction and repentance in their hearts, that they would see their father, and you, as gifts from God, not as enemies.

Your son’s marriage is under attack, and we stand in the gap for its restoration. Marriage is a covenant before God, not to be broken by the whims of man (Matthew 19:6). The enemy has exploited feelings of insecurity and fear ("the children feel unsafe") to justify separation, but we declare that God’s design for family is unity, not division. We pray that your daughter-in-law’s heart would be turned back to her husband, that she would repent of her controlling ways, and that the Lord would heal the brokenness in their relationship. We also pray for your son, that he would remain steadfast in love, patience, and wisdom, not returning evil for evil but overcoming evil with good (Romans 12:21).

We are grieved by the comparison and pride that have crept into this family, as if one side is "better" than the other. Scripture warns, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18). We pray that humility would replace pride, that gratitude would replace entitlement, and that the love of Christ would cover all offenses (1 Peter 4:8). Your daughter-in-law’s family, including her father (a pastor, no less), must also be held accountable for their role in enabling this division. We pray that they would recognize the damage being done and intervene with godly wisdom, not worldly tolerance of sin.

Your response, choosing love, prayer, and gentle correction, is a powerful testimony. Even when met with coldness, you have not retaliated but have continued to speak life, truth, and blessing over your family. This is the heart of Christ. We encourage you to keep standing on the promises of God, even when the situation seems hopeless. Remember, "love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:8), and your prayers are not in vain. The Lord is working, even when you cannot see it.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this family to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the pain, the division, and the manipulation that has taken root. We ask that You would break every chain of control and deception in the mighty name of Jesus. Soften the heart of our sister, that she would repent of her ways and return to her husband with humility and love. Restore the relationship between father and children, that they would see him through Your eyes, as a gift, not an enemy.

Father, we pray for the grandchildren, that You would protect their minds and hearts from the lies they’ve been told. Convict them of the sin of dishonoring their parents and draw them back to truth. Heal the wounds in this family, Lord, and replace bitterness with forgiveness, anger with peace, and division with unity. We declare that this marriage will not be destroyed but will be a testimony of Your redeeming power.

We ask that You would give wisdom to this grandmother, that she would know how to pray, how to speak, and when to be silent. Strengthen her faith in the face of rejection, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We also pray for the other family members involved, that they would recognize their role in this situation and act with godly integrity.

Lord, we thank You for the covenant of marriage and the blessing of family. We trust You to restore what has been broken and to bring beauty from these ashes. May Your name be glorified in this family, and may they all come to know You more deeply through this trial.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to Your throne. Amen.

Continue to stand firm, dear one. The battle is the Lord’s, and He is faithful. Keep loving, keep praying, and keep trusting in His perfect timing. The enemy’s schemes will not prevail.

We felt the weight of you standing at that door, bearing gifts and love, only to be met with coldness. That moment alone carries a world of sorrow, and we are holding your heart before the Lord with you. The card you wrote for your grandson, recounting his birth, his parents’ marriage, the bond of that day, was not wasted. Even if it was intercepted and never read the way you hoped, it was a seed planted in love, a quiet witness to truth that no one can erase. In a situation where you’ve been shut out, that act spoke.

One thing that has helped us when relationships feel snatched away is remembering that forgiveness and the fight for justice can walk side by side. Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending the manipulation isn’t real, and it doesn’t mean you stop longing for the children’s freedom and the restoration of your son’s family. It just means you choose, day by day, to hand the hurt and the unfairness to God so bitterness doesn’t take root in your own soul. That’s a decision you can make even while the pain is still sharp. Over time, as you keep releasing it, the emotions often begin to follow. You’ve already been doing that in your prayers, naming the wrong, yet not letting go of love. That’s real spiritual warfare.

A practical step that might bring some steadiness: don’t carry this battle alone. You’ve been reaching out to her father, which was brave, but find a couple of trusted, mature believers at your church who will pray with you consistently, not just a one-time request, but a small circle who will stand with you for the long haul. Isolation in suffering makes it heavier. Let them be the company that holds your arms up when you’re tired. And as you wait, let your expressions of love toward your grandchildren be simple and pressure-free, a card now and then that says “I love you, I’m here” without defending or explaining, just a steady, gentle light they can’t mistake. No response needed. That quiet faithfulness speaks over time.

Now we join you in prayer:

Lord Jesus, you see every hidden thing, and you see this grandmother’s heart, broken but fierce in love. We ask you to break the chains of control and manipulation that have held this family for so long. Guard these four children; let truth reach them in ways their dad and grandmother cannot right now. Bring peace, real unity, and genuine forgiveness in your timing. Give wisdom to this grandmother: when to speak, when to wait, and when to simply love without words. Sustain her when the silence hurts, and let her know she is not alone, you are at work, even in the dark. Shield her son’s relationship with his children and, if it be your will, renew this marriage in a way that brings glory to you. We trust you, Jesus, with the things we cannot fix. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Love love you for your beautiful and wonderful and heartfelt understanding word of encouragement and prayer ! ❤️❤️

The cry of your heart ascends for the knitting together again of a family, for love to cast out the coldness, and for a peace that is more than a truce. This yearning is not a small thing; it touches the very cords of the divine, for our God himself is the God of Peace, and he has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. See what that word is: not that we must find a new path, but that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. If he has done this for us who were his enemies, how much more is he able to heal the breaches of a household? Your grief over the division, over the texts returned with coldness, and over a door shut upon a grandfather’s gift, is seen by him. The Lord does not look on with indifference when children are turned from their father and when a marriage covenant, made before God with joy, is thus assaulted. The enemy loves to take the souls that should be one and scatter them into dry bones in the valley, each separated from the other.

But look well at the means he uses for restoration. Remember Peter, no stranger to grievous fall and bitter weeping. Two outward things the Lord employed for him: the crowing of the cock, a simple reminder of his own word, and a look from the Lord Jesus. That look, full of pained love, severed Peter from the crowd around that fire of denial, and he went out and wept bitterly. Yet even before that look, the Lord had said, "I have prayed for thee." The intercession of Christ came first; the outward means were the crowing and the look, but the secret engine was the prayer of the Son of God. There is your hope. You cannot command a look of grace to fall upon your daughter-in-law, nor can you force the crowing of conscience to break the spell of control. But the same Lord who prayed for Peter that his faith fail not, even now ever lives to make intercession. Present the names of your son, your daughter-in-law, and those four precious lambs before that throne, for the prayer of Christ has a restoring power.

You spoke of the marriage and of that day of joy when the covenant was made. Let us hold fast to what that covenant is. Marriage, in the divine idea, is not a mere contract that may be dissolved when hardness enters. It is cemented by a mutual love that springs from choice, and it is a union so real that the two become one flesh. When that oneness is torn, it is not a trifling matter; it is the dislocation of a sacred frame. And so the coldness, the comparing of one side of the family to the other as if there were two separate kingdoms, and the controlling hand that now bars a father from his own children, these are not mere peccadilloes. They are the working of a spirit that wars against the very picture of Christ and his Church. Yet we are not sent merely to lament the ruin, but to carry the word of reconciliation. And what a word it is! It is not a timid suggestion but an accomplished fact. All things are of God. He has already, in the person of Christ, accomplished all that is needed for perfect peace. Your work is to translate that into the language of lived patience and prayer, to be a living epistle of the reconciliation you have yourself known.

Your actions at the door, recounting in a card the love that surrounded that boy’s birth, the joy of the marriage covenant, and your steadfast love for his mother and father, this is the right spirit. Though your words seem for the moment cast back at you, love leans hard upon the promise that the Word will not return void. To strengthen the brethren is the duty of one who has tasted restoration, and how often that strengthening comes through bearing with the weakness of others and seeing our own weakness in the process. I hear in your request a longing to see your son restored to his place, and the children freed to love without coercion. True freedom will not come by sharper accusations, however truthful, but by the inbreaking of him who is the Lamb. It is as the Lamb that we first come to love him, seeing his wounds, and it is as a lamb-like spirit in his people that we become instruments to win others. The marriage of the Lamb is the end of the whole work of redemption, and all our little marital unions are meant to whisper of that. When they fall into discord, we point them to the Lamb who proved his love by sacrifice, not to a tally of wrongs.

Therefore, the charge is this: pray without ceasing, yes, but also watch that the spirit within you remains one of humble restoration, not of a soldier seeking victory over a foe. You have set your hand to the work of charity, but guard against the temptation to manage the providence. The restoration of these dry bones to life and unity will not come by your might or power, but by the Spirit of the living God. He can breathe upon the valley and cause bone to come to its bone, and sinew and flesh to cover them, until the family stands up again an exceeding great army of love. Wait upon that breath. Let your prayer be, "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live." The marriage feast of the Lamb is the fulfillment of long expectation; let your expectation for this household be fixed upon him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think. Peace, unity, love, forgiveness, and joy, these are not too great for him who has already given us the ministry of reconciliation. Continue in it, not with bitter fretting, but with a quiet confidence in your Lord.
