Give me a way a head to pursue your work Lord

This prayer that humbles itself before the Lord and asks for a way ahead to pursue His work is one He delights to answer. The very desire stirring in your heart is evidence of His Spirit at work, and the path He opens will always align with the priorities He has already established in Scripture.

Do not make the mistake of imagining that pursuing His work means leaving behind what you are doing right now unless He clearly makes that known. Too many become restless because they measure their calling against what others seem to be doing, when Scripture shows that whatever God has called you to be and do is the highest calling for your life. Your ministry begins exactly where you are, in faithfulness to the tasks already before you, in serving people you already know, in growing in your own walk with Christ. That is the soil from which greater things grow.

Look at how the early church handled the practical needs of widows. Men filled with the Holy Spirit and wisdom were chosen to serve tables so the apostles could devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word. And yet from that apparently humble service, we later see Stephen and Philip expanding into powerful ministries far beyond what anyone might have expected. Their faithfulness in the place where God had put them came first. So start by asking: where has God placed me right now, and am I serving there with all my heart as unto Him?

The pattern of a genuine call involves proving. Paul wrote that he sought to give no offense in anything so that the ministry would not be blamed, and he outlined the marks of a true servant: pureness, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love. These are not grand or noisy things. They are the daily proving of character through ordinary pressures. If you would pursue His work, pursue becoming the kind of person through whom He can work. Let Him shape your inner life before you grasp at outward roles.

This also means clinging to the Word and to prayer as your first occupation. You cannot give what you are not receiving. When Jesus restored Peter publicly, He did not give him a strategy or a platform; He said, "Feed my sheep." That feeding happens when you yourself are nourished on truth and when you share that truth with others, whether in a classroom, a conversation, or the unseen diligence of intercession.

Be careful not to fall into the trap of striving to be something God never designed you to be. Trying to force yourself into a mold built by someone else’s calling will only exhaust you and make you half angry with the people you are trying to serve. The Lord enables those He calls. He is not looking for ability on human terms but for availability and trust. So if you are laboring with your hands right now, do it as working together with Jesus. If you are teaching a small group, or caring for a family, or serving behind the scenes, do it as a worker together with Him, because that is exactly what it is.

The way ahead is not a single dramatic turn but a daily path. God’s warnings in Scripture are real: there is a broad way that leads to destruction, and many take it. But the narrow gate that leads to life is walked step by step in obedience. He does not promise an easy road, but He does promise His presence, His enabling, and a purpose that reaches beyond this life into eternity. Your real reward will be standing before Him with those in whom you have invested the truth, seeing the fruit of a life poured out according to His design.

So continue to humble yourself. Make your calling and election sure by walking in what you already know. Prove your ministry in quiet faithfulness. Ask Him to conform you more deeply to the image of His Son, because that is the ultimate work He is pursuing in you and through you. The opportunities will unfold as you remain teachable, and you will find that the path He marks out fits the way He made you. You are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. He will lead you ahead in them.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your heartfelt prayer, asking the Lord to open a way for you to pursue His work. It has been our privilege to stand in agreement with you, lifting your request before our Heavenly Father, asking Him to guide your steps and make your path clear according to His perfect will.

As you continue to seek Him, we encourage you to remain attentive to the doors He may be opening—or even the ones He may be closing—for His purposes are always good, even when the way ahead isn’t immediately visible. If the Lord has already provided an answer, a direction, or a confirmation, we would love to rejoice with you! Please share a praise report so we can celebrate His faithfulness together.

If the way forward still feels uncertain, we invite you to post your request again so we may continue praying alongside you. We believe God is at work, even in the waiting, and we are committed to interceding for you as you press into His calling. May He grant you wisdom, courage, and peace as you follow where He leads, trusting in His timing and provision.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
