Help me to understand who i am in you Lord

We come before the Lord with a heart full of gratitude for your sincere desire to know who you are in Christ. This is a beautiful and essential journey, for understanding our identity in Him is the foundation of a life lived in victory and purpose. Let us explore this together, seeking the Lord’s wisdom and truth.

First, it is vital to recognize that our identity is not found in the world, our past, our struggles, or even our own efforts. Our true identity is rooted in Jesus Christ, who has redeemed us and called us His own. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." This means that when you surrendered your life to Christ, you were made new, no longer bound by sin, shame, or the labels the world may have placed on you.

You are a child of God, adopted into His family through faith in Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:26 says, "For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus." This is not just a title; it is a reality that comes with incredible promises. As God’s child, you are deeply loved, cherished, and valued. Romans 8:16-17 reminds us, "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him." You are an heir to the kingdom of God, called to walk in the fullness of His blessings and purposes.

You are also a saint, set apart for God’s holy purposes. 1 Corinthians 1:2 describes believers as "those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints." This means that God has called you to live a life of holiness, reflecting His character and love to the world. You are not defined by your mistakes or failures but by the righteousness of Christ that has been imputed to you. Romans 5:19 says, "For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous."

Furthermore, you are a temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 declares, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." This means that God’s Spirit dwells within you, empowering you to live a life that honors Him. You are not alone in your struggles or your journey; the Holy Spirit is your Helper, Guide, and Comforter.

You are also called to be a light in this world. Matthew 5:14-16 says, "You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Your life is meant to reflect the love, grace, and truth of Christ, drawing others to Him.

Now, let us pray together, lifting your heart to the Lord and asking Him to reveal even more of who you are in Him.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of praise and gratitude for the work You have done in this beloved child of Yours. Lord, we thank You for calling them by name and for making them a new creation in Christ. We ask that You would open their eyes to see the truth of who they are in You. Remove any lies or distortions the enemy has tried to plant in their mind, and replace them with the truth of Your Word.

Father, we pray that You would help them to fully grasp that they are Your child, deeply loved and cherished. Let them walk in the confidence of their identity as Your heir, joint heir with Christ, and a co-laborer in Your kingdom. Reveal to them the calling and purpose You have placed on their life, and give them the courage and strength to walk in it.

Lord, we ask that You would fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, empowering them to live a life that glorifies You. Help them to see themselves as You see them, a saint, a light, and a temple of Your Spirit. May they walk in holiness, reflecting Your character in all they do.

We also pray for protection over their mind and heart, that they would not be swayed by the world’s standards or the enemy’s deceptions. Guard them from doubt, fear, and insecurity, and let them stand firm in the truth of Your Word.

Father, we thank You for the work You are doing in their life. May they continue to grow in their understanding of who they are in Christ, and may their life be a testament to Your goodness, love, and power. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, meditating on the truths of who you are in Christ. The more you fill your mind with Scripture, the more you will walk in the reality of your identity in Him. Remember, this is not just about knowing facts; it is about living out the truth of who God says you are. You are loved, chosen, and called for a purpose. Walk in that truth, and let it transform every area of your life.

What a deep and honest prayer you’ve brought to the Lord. We hear the genuine longing in your words, and we’re grateful you shared it with us. Wanting to understand who you are in Christ isn’t just a good desire, it’s one He loves to fulfill. The very fact that you’re humbling yourself and asking means the Holy Spirit is already at work, drawing you toward the truth that will steady your heart.

One of the most grounding realities we hold onto is this: you were made in the image of God, created for relationship with Him. That means your worth isn’t something you have to earn or figure out on your own, it’s built into your very design. Sin fractured that clarity for all of us, but in Jesus, you are fully known, fully loved, and fully accepted. Your identity isn’t found in your past mistakes, your achievements, or what others say about you. It’s rooted in being a beloved child of God, hidden with Christ.

A practical way to move from asking the question to receiving the answer is to spend unhurried time with Jesus in the Gospels. Watch how He treats people, the broken, the overlooked, the ones who felt lost. So often we discover who we are by seeing how He sees us. As you read, ask the Holy Spirit to highlight what’s true about you: not just in your head, but deep in your spirit. Sometimes it helps to write down the lies that surface, the ones that say you’re not enough or that your identity is something you have to prove, and then to speak aloud what God says instead. The fruit of the Spirit growing in you, love, joy, peace, will also become a living reminder of who you are becoming in Him.

Let’s pray together now.

Lord Jesus, thank You for this dear one who is seeking to know who they are in You. Quiet every voice of confusion and shame, and let Your voice rise above them all. Root their identity so firmly in Your love that nothing can shake it. Open the eyes of their heart to see themselves as You do, forgiven, beloved, and made new. In Your mighty name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Cast your eye not upon yourself, for in your own flesh dwelleth no good thing. To know who you are, you must look away from the poor dust of your fallen nature and behold your standing in Christ Jesus. It is a grand truth that every believer is perfect in Christ. When the Father chose His elect, He chose them in the Son; they were set in the covenant Head before the world began, and all that Christ is, they are made to be in Him. You are not to patch together an identity from your frames and feelings, your successes or your stumblings. These things shift like the sand, but your union with the risen Lord is fixed as the everlasting hills. You were crucified with Him, your old man nailed to the tree. You were buried with Him, and you are risen with Him, and your life is hid with Christ in God. That is who you are. This is the sweet kernel of the gospel: Christ in you, the hope of glory.

A sense of your own emptiness is no barrier to this, but rather the very porch through which faith enters. When you have no confidence in yourself, there is more room in the soul for faith in Jesus. The greater the emptiness, the more room for His fullness. You humble yourself before the throne of grace, crying that you do not know who you are. Good. That is the posture of a sinner whose right to come lies not in himself, but in the command of Christ to come. The very fact that you feel unworthy is a token that you are in the right state to close with Christ. Believe in the Lord Jesus with a faith that clings to Him alone, and you shall find that in that very act you are one with Him.

What then is your identity? You are a soul in whom the Son of God has come, and whom He has given an understanding to know Him that is true. You are a branch of the living Vine, drawing life from the root that never withers. Your acceptance before the Father is not a thing to be earned by degrees, but a present perfection in Christ’s obedience and sacrifice. When the tempter whispers that you are nothing, remind him that you are nothing in yourself, but Christ is your life. When sorrows swarm, let this be your consolation: you are in Him who is the resurrection and the life, and because He lives, you shall live also. He is your surety, bound under covenant pledges to bring you safely home.

If you would know who you are in Him, then use Him as your own. Christ is yours, His wisdom, His righteousness, His sanctification, His redemption. He is not a treasure locked in a vault, but a possession received by faith. Take Him daily as your bread, your water, your light, your all. In proportion as you draw near to God in Him, you will taste the peace of this union. And do not fret if you cannot feel some singular emotion to prove it; those who trust in feelings often build on a mist. Rest in the naked Word of God: “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.” Believe that, and keep right on believing. The evidence will blossom in its season.

And should you ask what fruit this brings, it brings a holy obligation. Because you are Christ’s, you are bound to walk as He walked. But you will not stir one inch along that heavenly road by gritting your teeth in your own strength. The love of Christ constraineth us. He in you will conquer lurking sin; He in you will fill your heart with love to holiness. Look to Him, and the image of the first Adam will fade as the image of the second Adam shines brighter. You are complete in Him; now let that completeness flood your soul with gratitude and hope. Go your way this day not gazing inward, but upward, knowing that you are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
