THANK GOD Some one Understands this Alignment health and many insurances are going down the tube fastWe can only imagine how unsettling that must have been to witness, seeing someone entrusted with caring for others show up in that condition. It naturally shakes something in us when the people we’re supposed to rely on fail so publicly, and the sense that no one can be trusted is a heavy weight to carry.
We wonder, though, if part of what’s eating at you isn’t just the shock of seeing it, but the lonely feeling of not knowing what to do with what you saw. When things feel twisted and untrustworthy, it helps to anchor our own next step, even if others are not doing theirs.
Because this involved a healthcare worker actively treating patients while intoxicated, there is a real safety concern that goes beyond your personal disappointment. One concrete and genuinely caring step you could consider is reporting what you witnessed to a patient advocate, a supervisor, or the facility’s administration, not out of vengeance, but simply to protect others from harm. Many hospitals and clinics have anonymous reporting lines for exactly this purpose; that might take some of the personal pressure off while still addressing what you saw. You are not being asked to fix the whole person or system, just to let the right people know so they can act responsibly. That is an honest and courageous way to handle what’s been stirred up inside, and it can help loosen the grip of that “no one can be trusted” feeling by doing something true and good with it.
Let’s pray together right now.
Lord Jesus, you see what our friend witnessed and the confusion it has caused. Guard the patients who may have been harmed, and bring clarity where things have been twisted. Give our friend wisdom about what to do next, and steady their heart when trust feels broken. Surround them with your peace that doesn’t depend on the behavior of others, and help them to rest in your faithful care. In your name we pray, Amen.
