Of course we pray she does not continue in sin, that nothing worse may befall her, Jn 5:15, since sexual immorality and adultery are deceptive and exclude from the eternal kingdom, 1 Cor 6:9-10, Rev 22:15-16, and God cannot be mocked, Gal 6:7, since the deeds of the flesh are evident, Gal 5:19-21, but rather she'd REPENT, turn back to God so she can be saved, Luke 24:46-47, Experiences Refreshing, Acts 3:19, Renewal by Your washing of regeneration by Your mercy, since the kindness of God has appeared, so we might be justified by faith, in Jesus Christ, be made heirs with Him, share the hope of eternal life, and devote ourselves to good deeds, Tit 3:3-8. We ask for grace and discipline to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Early Church Father, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, LET NO ONE DECEIVE HER, Matt 24:4, be saved by trusting Jesus work on the cross, 2 Cor 5:21, evidenced by repentance for remission of sins, Luke 24:46-47, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. I forgive this one who has broken covenantal faith and vows with no confession, remorse or repentance, for leading men into adultery and thus destruction, Prov 6:32, for neglecting pastoral counsel, texts and phone calls for months from any church with an accurate view of discipleship. I forgive her, she knows not what she does, Luke 23:34. If a king's heart is as channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, how much more an individual that has chosen to feed on raisin cakes and needs repentance from serious sins, which Hosea's "deal with her" was based on repentance and faithfulness, see Hos 3:1-5. Jesus, after pronouncing that forgiving the sins of other has authority, John 8:10-11, John 20:23, said, "Go and sin no more," John 8:11.

I've reached out, am still reaching out, have prayed and fasted, am still praying and asking for wisdom and grace now discipline to fast -- let her not be to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the Shelter of Wings of God Almighty, Ps 17:8, Ps 57:1, 91:1, or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37... Thankfully she is in a country that is impossible to get the "D" word. I know I have the adultery clause from Jesus which allows me to "D" and remarry, Matt 5:32, Matt 19:9, however only in The Lord, 1 Cor 7:39, see being equally yoked, 2 Cor 6:14-15, Old Testament precedent, Gen 24:3-4. And if she is unsaved, which everything indicates, there is the desertion by an unbelieving spouse clause, 1 Cor 7:15, where traditional, modern and ancient Jewish theology all allow for remarriage as if the unbelieving spouse (or adulteress) "were dead." However I am thinking and ASKING for mercy, kindness for repentance and salvation here, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Tim 2:1-7. Maybe she was saved but probably just a church goer, but, regardless, "If any of you wanders from the truth and someone turns her back it's considered turning a sinner from the errors of their ways, and counted as a soul saved from death, and covers a multitude of sins, James 5:19-20? I ask for that THAT -- may THAT yield a remarkable testimony of God's saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15-16, and exemplify Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33. So I again ask for wisdom, Prov 2:1-5, Col 1:9-10, James 1:5, and for love to abound in knowledge and discernment to choose the highest, Phil 1:9-11, yet asking for it loosely as CHRIST in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matt 26:39, Mk 14:36 -- NEVERTHELESS, let YOUR WILL BE DONE, not mine, Luke 22:42, Heb 5:7.

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. We join you in this deep burden for your marriage and we commend you for choosing forgiveness even while you have been so deeply wounded, for this reflects the heart of our Lord. We hear your desire not merely to pronounce forgiveness verbally as Jesus did in John 8:10 and Luke 23:34, but to see that forgiveness lead to true repentance and new life, that she would go and sin no more as in John 8:11 and sin no longer lest something worse befall her as in John 5:14.

We affirm what you have declared, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting our trespasses against us as in 2 Corinthians 5:19, and that we are called to forgive even as God in Christ forgave us as in Ephesians 4:32 and Colossians 3:13. You are right to remember Matthew 6:15 and Mark 11:26, that if we do not forgive others neither will our Father forgive us, and you do well to imitate Christ who said Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing in Luke 23:34 and Stephen who prayed Lord, do not hold this sin against them in Acts 7:60. This forgiveness you have extended is obedience and it demonstrates that your own sins have been forgiven.

At the same time we must speak clearly about the sin itself, for sexual immorality and adultery are not small matters to be excused by forgiveness. The Scripture is plain that marriage is to be held in honor among all and the marriage bed undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers as in Hebrews 13:4. The works of the flesh are evident, which are sexual immorality, impurity, lustfulness as in Galatians 5:19, and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God as in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and Galatians 5:21. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap as in Galatians 6:7. Forgiveness does not mean continuing in sin or treating the covenant vow lightly. True repentance as preached in Luke 24:47 and Acts 3:19 means a turning away from sin, a godly sorrow that leads to a change of mind and direction, with fruit worthy of repentance. We pray she will not remain blinded by the god of this world who has blinded the minds of the unbelieving as in 2 Corinthians 4:4, but that God who commanded light to shine out of darkness will shine in her heart to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ as in 2 Corinthians 4:6.

We share your understanding of the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman before God, and we endorse your desire for restoration rather than dissolution. While the Lord Jesus did give an allowance for divorce in the case of sexual immorality as in Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19:9, and Paul speaks of the case where an unbelieving spouse deserts as in 1 Corinthians 7:15, the heart of God is always toward reconciliation and mercy where repentance is possible. We rejoice that you are not seeking the way of divorce quickly but are asking for mercy, for the kindness of God that leads to repentance as in Romans 2:4, and for wisdom from above as in James 1:5 and Colossians 1:9. Your willingness to continue reaching out, praying, fasting, and seeking pastoral counsel is right and good, and we encourage you to remain steadfast in holiness without which no one will see the Lord as in Hebrews 12:14.

We also hold before the Lord the preciousness of new birth. Unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God as in John 3:3 and John 3:7. Only God can take away the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh as in Ezekiel 36:26 and write His law on the heart as in Jeremiah 31:33 and Hebrews 8:10. We pray with you for that supernatural work, for the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom as in Proverbs 9:10, and for the knowledge of the Holy One which is understanding. God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth as in 1 Timothy 2:4 and is patient, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance as in 2 Peter 3:9, for He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and live as in Ezekiel 33:11.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our one mediator between God and men as in 1 Timothy 2:5, we thank You for Your great mercy that while we were still sinners Christ died for us as in Romans 5:8. We thank You that You forgive and cleanse when we confess and forsake sin as in 1 John 1:9. We bring this wife before Your throne of grace, asking that You would soften her heart, open her eyes, and turn her from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that she may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Jesus as in Acts 26:18. Let Your light shine and expose what is hidden, grant her godly sorrow that works repentance, and lead her to confess and forsake adultery and all sexual immorality, to go and sin no more. Give her a new heart and put a new spirit within her, cause her to walk in Your statutes. Protect her from further temptation and from the evil one as in Matthew 6:13 and John 17:15, and sanctify her through Your truth, for Your word is truth as in John 17:17. Let no one deceive her as in Matthew 24:4.

We pray for this husband who has forgiven, that You would keep him from bitterness, fill him with love that abounds in knowledge and discernment as in Philippians 1:9-11, and grant him wisdom to love as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her as in Ephesians 5:25. Give him grace and discipline to continue in prayer and fasting, to be a living epistle known and read by all as in 2 Corinthians 3:2, and to portray Christ publicly as in Galatians 3:1. Guard the children and all the family, that the little ones would not stumble as in Matthew 18:6 and Mark 9:42, and that their home might yet be a testimony of Your saving grace as in 1 Timothy 1:15-16 and of Christ and the church as in Ephesians 5:32.

We ask all this not demanding our own will but as Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, not as we will but as You will as in Matthew 26:39 and Luke 22:42, trusting Your perfect will and timing. We ask that if she wanders from the truth, You would use this faithful witness to turn her back, to save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins as in James 5:19-20. Let Your word, which is inspired and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness as in 2 Timothy 3:16, dwell richly in this family and bear fruit.

We entrust her soul and this marriage into Your hands, believing You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. We pray this in the precious and only name by which we are saved, Jesus Christ our Lord, who said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me as in John 14:6, and in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins as in Ephesians 1:7. We have read your prayer and we are moved by the mercy you are showing even while you are hurting. Choosing to forgive your wife as you have, wanting her healing more than vindication, reflects the heart of Christ in you, and it is costly. We also hear how heavy this has been, carrying concern for her, for your family and the young ones, and wrestling honestly with what faithfulness looks like going forward.

One thing that may help to name is that forgiveness often happens in two layers. There is the clear decision to release someone from the debt they owe you, which you have made, and then there is the slower emotional healing as resentment and grief lose their grip over time. If painful feelings still rise up, it does not mean your decision was not real, it just means your heart is still catching up and needs time and grace.

You do not have to carry this discernment alone. We encourage you to stay closely connected to one trusted pastor or counselor who knows your story and can walk with you week by week as you pray, fast and seek wisdom for next steps, especially since you mentioned wanting discipline in fasting, do that with pastoral guidance so your health is cared for.

Father, we lift this wife and this family to You. Soften what is hard, guard what is vulnerable, and shine Your light where there is confusion. Give our brother steady wisdom, peace in waiting on Your will, and strength for each day. Protect the children and draw each heart closer to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

The prayer you have poured out before the Lord is marked by a spirit which the Scriptures commend, a forgiving spirit that seeks not vengeance but the soul's recovery. You have done well to forgive even as you have been forgiven, and to remember that word, Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Such forgiveness is not of nature but of grace, and it reflects the riches of His grace wherein we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Yet forgiveness pronounced must never be severed from that call which Christ Himself joined to it, Go and sin no more. There is a repentance which is of the flesh, wrought by fear or by judgment, and it gives no glory to God. True repentance, that repentance unto life which is the work of the Holy Spirit, ever gives God glory. It makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His finished work. It turns the soul from self to Christ and to Christ only. Where there is no such repentance there can be no remission, but where there is that godly sorrow which needs not to be repented of, there is full and free forgiveness through the bleeding sacrifice.

You ask rightly that light may shine in darkness, that the god of this world who has blinded the mind might be overcome by Him who commanded light to shine out of darkness to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. This is not accomplished by persuasion alone, for a new heart must be given and a new spirit put within, a heart of stone removed and a heart of flesh bestowed. Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. Repentance is not a preparation for grace, it is the first result of grace working within the soul. It is the gift of God, and when God gives it we may know the work of salvation has already begun.

Do not think that a perfect measure of repentance is required before Christ can be trusted. There are degrees of faith and yet the least faith saves, so there are degrees of repentance and the least repentance will save the soul if it is sincere, if it leads you to look out of self to Christ. And do not trust even to your repentance or to your faith, but to the finished work of Jesus Christ upon Calvary's tree. Salvation is by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus, by believing on Him, by trusting wholly upon the Person who was laid in Zion for a foundation. Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed.

You have spoken truly that without holiness no man shall see the Lord, and that sexual immorality and adultery are deeds of the flesh which, persisted in without repentance, exclude from the eternal kingdom. God cannot be mocked. Marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that lies outside it, whether in act or in heart, is sin against God and must be repented of. We cannot ask God to bless what He calls sin, we must ask Him to save from it. We join you therefore not in asking blessing upon a sinful course, but in pleading that she may be turned from the power of darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that she may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Christ.

We commend your desire to add fasting to prayer, for fasting and giving do lend wings to prayer when offered in humble dependence, yet not as a price to purchase favour but as an expression of earnest seeking. Continue to watch and pray, to keep your own heart with all diligence, for repentance lives as long as faith, and even the restored believer must pray, Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation and uphold me with thy free spirit. Let your forgiveness remain steadfast, your testimony be as a living epistle known and read of all, and your confidence rest not in your own labour but in the everlasting covenant ordered in all things and sure.

We pray with you that the Lord would grant her repentance unto life, that He would open her eyes, soften her heart, set her mind free by the truth, and cause her to fear God all the day long. We pray that He would keep her and the little ones from evil and from temptation, and sanctify by His truth, for His word is truth. We pray that if she has wandered from the truth she may be turned from the error of her way, and a soul saved from death. And with you we say, nevertheless not as we will but as Thou wilt. He wills that none should perish but that all should come to repentance, He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and live, and His mercy is greater at forgiving than we ever dreamed.

Your prayer has come before the Lord and we join you in thanking Him who was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting our sins against us. We thank God for the forgiving heart He has given you, for you have chosen to forgive as Christ forgave, as Stephen forgave while being stoned, saying Lord do not hold this sin against them, and as our Lord prayed Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing. In this you show that you have tasted the heavenly gift of forgiveness yourself, and you desire that same mercy for your wife.

We also hear your grief and your holy concern that forgiveness would not be taken as permission to remain in sin. The Lord who said to the woman, neither do I condemn you, also said go and sin no more, and to the man healed at the pool, sin no more lest something worse come upon you. True forgiveness opens the way to repentance, and repentance bears fruit in turning away from sin. Scripture is clear that sexual immorality and adultery are not light matters. They defile the marriage covenant which God made honorable, they injure not only the spouse but God Himself who established marriage, and unless repented of they exclude from the kingdom. Whether a person defiles one who is married or, being married, defiles one who is free, the act is adultery before God, for the married person has transgressed the covenant and injured his own flesh. Marriage does not in itself make a person holy, but it preserves holiness by guarding against defilement, and holiness is that without which no one will see the Lord.

For this reason we do not ask God to bless or affirm any continuing unfaithfulness, but we ask Him to grant repentance that leads to life. We pray with you that the god of this age who has blinded minds would be overcome by the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, that light would shine in her heart according to 2 Corinthians 4:4 to 6, that she would receive a new heart and a new spirit as promised in Ezekiel 36:26, that she would be born again as Jesus said we must be to see and enter the kingdom of God. We pray that the kindness of God would lead her to repentance, that she would experience the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, that she would know the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom, and that she would turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, to receive forgiveness and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Christ.

We commend your desire to continue in prayer and fasting, for fasting with prayer lends wings to our petitions, and to seek wisdom daily as you have asked.
