You have cried out for God's preserving hand, and He hears you. In your fear of death, you are reaching for life, and that is the right place to be. The Scriptures lay before us two clear paths: the way of life and the way of death. The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. That choice is before you even now, and your desire to live more for the Lord shows the Spirit drawing you toward life.
The very thing you fear, death, has already been met and conquered by Jesus Christ. The wages of sin is death, but He tasted death for every one of us. He bore your sins in His own body on the cross. The penalty that was yours, He paid. Through His death, He destroyed the one who held the power of death, the devil, and broke the claim of death over all who trust in Him. Satan cannot hold you if you belong to Jesus. His grip was shattered at the cross.
When you were baptized into Christ, you were baptized into His death. Your old life, with all its sin and its just sentence of death, was crucified with Him. That means the law of sin and death no longer has the final word over you. Another law is now at work, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, and it is far stronger. It sets you free.
This is not to dismiss the real dangers around you. You are in a pit, facing countless threats, and you need deliverance today. God knows that. He is not distant. He can send His angels, and He can lead you to a place of safety, if that is His will. Keep asking, keep trusting, and keep submitting to His will, just as you are doing. But know this as well: even if the outward danger remains for a time, the resurrection life of Jesus inside you is unshakable. For the child of God, death is not an end; it is a doorway into the fullness of His presence. It has become a transition from this frail tent into a house eternal, and that truth removes the bondage of fear.
You said, “If it is His will.” That is the very heart of faith. Jesus Himself prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” God’s will for you is not destruction, but salvation and life, abundant life in His Son. Hold fast to that. The hand that holds you is stronger than every enemy. He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for you will not abandon you now. Whether He preserves your physical life for more days of service or brings you through death into His nearer glory, you are safe. No man, no power, no circumstance can deliver you out of His hand.
So do not let fear rule. Let the perfect love of Christ cast it out. You want to live more for the Lord. That is the Spirit’s work. Rise up inside, and choose life. Cling to Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life. He has already rescued you from the deepest pit: separation from God. And He will walk with you through every earthly valley until you see His face. May the Lord be your shield and your very great reward, now and forever.
