Your words show a heart that is still trusting God even while feeling disappointment, and that is a faithful response. It is right and good that you acknowledged the Lord before you applied, for Scripture tells us to commit our way to Him and trust Him to direct our paths.
Disappointment does not mean God has not heard you or that your faith has failed. Even the disciples faced moments when their hopes were shaken, yet God was still working out His purpose through it all. To be disappointed but not discouraged is to say with the psalmist that though we may feel cast down, we will still hope in God.
God sees your diligence, your prayer, and your desire to honor Him in this process. His answer is not always immediate and His provision is not always in the form we expect, but His care for you is constant. He uses even closed doors to guide us, to shape our character, and to lead us to what is best in His perfect timing.
Continue to bring your requests before Him with thanksgiving. Ask Him for wisdom for the next step, for peace while you wait, and for strength to keep doing good work as you wait for His opening. Rest in the truth that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
I pray for you now. Father in heaven, thank You for this one who seeks to honor You and who turns to You in disappointment. Grant peace that passes understanding, guard the heart from discouragement, and provide clearly for every need according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. Help this dear one to keep trusting You, to keep walking faithfully, and to see Your hand at work in due time. Give hope for the future and joy in Your nearness today. Hearing that you are disappointed yet not discouraged shows a heart that is trying to hold fast to hope. It is good that you acknowledged the Lord before you applied. That is the right way to walk, to bring everything before Him and invite Him into your decisions.
At the same time, acknowledging Him is not a way to make God do what we have asked. He is always the One who initiates and we are the ones who respond to His love and grace. There is no work we can offer that obligates Him to answer in the way we expect. When we try to use prayer or acknowledgment as a way to force our preferred outcome, we put ourselves back into trusting our own effort and wisdom rather than resting in Him. True peace comes when we recognize that we do not have it in ourselves, but God is at work in us both to desire His will and to do it, and we can rest in Him even while we feel disappointed and imperfect.
Disappointment can tempt us to lean on weak supports, like trusting in a particular result or in empty assurances. Scripture warns against trusting in a broken reed that cannot hold weight. Learning to know the Lord more deeply is what helps trust grow. Jesus invites us to learn of Him, and as we come to know His character, His uprightness and faithfulness, it becomes easier to trust Him even when an answer is no or not yet. He is not sleeping or unaware. He sees you, and His promise is to go before you and to be behind you, to lead and to guard.
This is a moment to persevere and not drift backward. The danger for any of us is to start well with the Lord and then pull back when things do not go as we hoped. Serving the true and living God is always for your good, even through disappointment. It shapes you and makes you more like Christ, while turning to other hopes only brings confusion and hurt. God delights to use ordinary, flawed and weak people who have a heart that is turned toward Him, and He looks for those He can work through to accomplish His purposes. Your life remains His house as you hold fast your confidence in Him to the end.
It is better to fall into the hands of God than into the hands of people or circumstances. He is merciful and gracious, and He does not count iniquity against those who are trusting in Jesus Christ, even when they stumble. The record God has given is that He has provided eternal life, and that life is in His Son. If you are trusting in Jesus for salvation, you can come to Him honestly with this disappointment and leave it with Him.
May the Lord give you peace as you rest in Him, increase your knowledge of Him so your trust deepens, and keep you pressing forward into His will rather than drawing back. May He show you His good purpose in this closed door and open the right one in His time, and may you continue to respond to His goodness with love and thankfulness for all He has already done for you in Christ.
