Disappointed

We hear your heart, and we stand with you in this moment of disappointment. It is understandable to feel let down when things do not go as we had hoped, even when we have sought the Lord in faith. But we rejoice that you have not allowed disappointment to turn into discouragement, for that is a testament to the strength of your trust in Christ.

The Word of God reminds us in Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." Even when the outcome is not what we desired, we can rest in the assurance that God is sovereign and His plans for us are good. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." You have done exactly that, acknowledging Him before moving forward, and we believe He will honor your faithfulness.

We must also remember that disappointment is not the end of the story. The psalmist declares in Psalm 34:18-19, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." Your heart may feel heavy now, but the Lord is near to you, and He will not abandon you in this season.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that echo the disappointment our brother/sister in Christ is feeling. Lord, we thank You that they have not allowed this disappointment to turn into discouragement, for their faith in You remains steadfast. We ask that You would comfort them in this moment, reminding them of Your nearness and Your unfailing love. Father, we trust that You are working all things together for their good, even when the path is unclear. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to see Your hand at work in every detail of their life. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are in control. We pray that You would open doors of opportunity that align with Your will and purpose for their life. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word, for He is faithful to reveal His will in His perfect timing. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He is guiding your steps.

If there is a specific area of disappointment you are facing, whether in career, relationships, or another aspect of life, we invite you to share more so we may pray and counsel you more specifically. Remember, the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not alone in this.

We hear you. Being disappointed after you sincerely sought the Lord first is hard, and we admire that you are choosing to stay encouraged in Jesus even while you feel the letdown.

That you paused to acknowledge Him before you even applied matters. It shows you wanted His will more than just an outcome, and that posture is not wasted even when the answer is not what you hoped. Disappointment does not mean He was not with you in the process or that your prayer was missed.

It can help to give the disappointment a little space before rushing to the next thing. When you have a quiet moment, we encourage you to write down honestly what you had hoped for, what actually happened, and one or two questions you want to bring back to the Lord as you consider next steps. If you have a trusted pastor or friend, sharing that with them can also bring clarity and keep discouragement from settling in.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now. Thank You that You see this disappointment and that You are near. Give peace that goes beyond understanding, wisdom for what is next, and strength to keep trusting You one day at a time. Lead and guide in the way You have prepared. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your words carry a true mark of grace in them, to be disappointed and yet not discouraged, and to have acknowledged the Lord before you moved forward. That is the very way of faith, to commit your way unto Him and then to trust Him with the result.

What time you are afraid, or disappointed, you do well to say, I will trust in Him. Remember that where God begins to work, He does not ask us to finish. He always completes His own work. The faintest gracious desire which blossoms into humble faith and earnest prayer is the work of God, and what He has begun He will carry on. His Word is His bond, and He cannot run back from His own promise.

It is true humility to take God at His word and to believe Him. If He says He will save you if you trust in Christ, then if you trust Him, He will save you. And if He bids you acknowledge Him in all your ways, then having acknowledged Him, you may rest that He has heard you at Headquarters, and there can be no mistake about it. Deal with God as you would have your children deal with you, with simple confidence that a faithful Father hears and orders all things well.

A door closed is not a sign that God has forgotten you. He deals with us not as blocks of wood, but as His children with will and judgment, and He often withholds one thing to prepare a better thing, to keep us from turning aside and to teach us perseverance in holiness. They shall not depart from me, He says, and that promise secures not only your soul for eternity, but your steps day by day.

So keep on seeking His grace, dear soul. Believe still, for He must give you a comfortable answer one of these days. He can create light and peace in your heart even now, and He accepts your little works when they are done in faith in His dear Son.

We pray with you now, that the Lord would lift the weight of this disappointment, that He would confirm your trust, guard you from discouragement, and show you clearly His good purpose in this matter. May He give you present peace and future hope, and keep you looking unto Jesus, in whose blood and righteousness alone we stand accepted, until His perfect will is made plain to you.
