depression

We join with you in bringing this heavy burden of depression and anxiety before the Lord, for He hears the cries of His children and desires to carry what feels too heavy for you to carry alone.

We are reminded of how tender God is toward those who suffer in this way, as it is written in Psalm 34:18, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And in 1 Peter 5:7 we are told to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Your struggle is not hidden from Him, and you are not alone in it.

Scripture gives us a beautiful promise for anxious hearts in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. This peace is not something we can manufacture ourselves, it is a guard that God Himself places around our hearts when we bring our needs to Him. We also cling to Isaiah 41:10, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We want to gently share with you that we noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we do not want to miss the opportunity to speak of how precious that name is. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can come boldly to His throne of grace. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 tells us, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we encourage you to call upon Him, confess your need for Him, believe that He died for your sins and rose again, for Romans 10:9 says if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name that we pray and find true and lasting hope, not only for relief in this life but for eternal life with Him.

We encourage you to continue to bring your depression and anxiety daily to the Lord in prayer, to stay in His Word, and to not walk through this alone. God often brings His comfort through His people, so we urge you to seek fellowship with faithful believers, to share your struggle with a trusted pastor or biblical counselor, and if needed, to seek help from a medical professional, for God can use many means to bring healing and strength.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You see the weight of depression and anxiety that has settled on their heart and mind, and You know every anxious thought and sleepless night. We ask in Jesus name that You would draw near and let Your presence be felt in a powerful way. Lord, lift this heavy burden and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Strengthen them when they feel weak, uphold them with Your righteous right hand, and remind them that they are deeply loved and cared for by You. Help them to cast every worry upon You and to trust You day by day. Lead them to godly community and wise counsel, and guide them into Your Word where they may find comfort and truth. Above all, we pray they would know the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ and call upon His name. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, Amen.

We are grateful you shared this honest prayer with us. That ache for depression and anxiety to lift is so understandable, and bringing it to God in a few simple words is itself an act of faith. We hear how heavy this feels.

Please know you are not alone in carrying both at once. It is very common for anxiety and low mood to feed each other, which can make days feel especially exhausting. That does not mean you have failed or that God is distant. He sees you in this and remains near even when relief feels slow.

One step that often helps alongside prayer is letting one other person walk with you in it. If you have someone you trust, a pastor, a counselor or your doctor, consider sharing how you have been feeling and that you would value both prayer and ongoing support. You do not have to sort through this by yourself, and reaching out can make next steps clearer. If symptoms persist or worsen, we gently encourage you to reach out to a medical or mental health professional as well as continuing in prayer.

We are praying for you now.

Father, in Jesus name we lift up our friend to You. You know the weight they are carrying and how much they long for peace. Give them comfort today, wisdom for each next step, and people nearby who will listen and care well. Draw them close to Your presence and keep them in Your care. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request concerning this heavy burden of depression and anxiety has been heard and we have carried it before the throne of grace with you.

We know that the mind is the main thing, for it will bring you daylight or midnight, peace or war, and that the very anxiety which arises through your being in difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Yet there is a word of promise for such a state as yours, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This is not a peace far off, but a present possession to be enjoyed even with sorrows surging round, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

Scripture tells us that He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ has healing virtue. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, but even His leaves change the life blood and make the nature new. So far as you yourself are concerned there may seem to be no hope, but there is help laid upon One that is mighty to save, even Jesus Christ. Look out of yourself to Him and you shall live. There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Saviour of such as you.

We pray for you now. O Lord our God, who knows the weight of this darkness, look in mercy upon this afflicted one. Pardon, heal and give perfect peace. Stay this mind upon Thyself, breathe into the soul a peace with God which passes all understanding, and let the healing virtue of Christ flow into the wounded spirit. Grant rest under pressing duties, comfort in lonely hours, and hope where hope has seemed to fail. Lift this burden of depression and anxiety, and fill the heart with the finest of the wheat of Thy presence, that joy in God may return. Keep this dear soul in Thy keeping, and call it at last to Heaven's perfect peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your honest prayer for relief from depression and anxiety has been heard, and I am joining you in prayer before God for His mercy and help.

Scripture speaks of different kinds of struggles, and one of the heaviest is the war within ourselves, when the heart and mind are troubled and restless. That inward turmoil can make even quiet days feel heavy and painful, and it is why we need a deeper peace than circumstances alone can give. The Lord Jesus spoke of this when He promised His followers a peace that the world cannot give, a peace that steadies us even when troubles remain around us. He is called the God of peace, the One who can calm the storm within and bring healing to the wounded heart.

I am praying that God will lift this burden from you, that He will quiet anxious thoughts, comfort you in depression, and fill you with His peace in all godliness and honesty. I pray that He will strengthen you day by day, give you hope, and remind you that you are not alone and that He wills your good and your salvation and draws near to all who call upon Him in truth.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, and may the God of peace crush every work of darkness under your feet and grant you rest for your soul. May He guide you to supportive community around you, and give you wisdom to reach out for help from faithful pastors, trusted believers, and caring counselors or medical help when needed. You do not have to carry this alone.

I will continue to pray that your depression and anxiety will ease, that God will renew your strength, and that you will know His presence, His comfort, and His unchanging love in Christ.

Amen.
