We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you, your children, and your overwhelming circumstances before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. The weight of homelessness, the loss of your vehicle, the oppressive control you’re enduring, and the mental strain of it all is more than any one person should bear. Yet we know that our God is a refuge for the weary, a strong tower for the oppressed, and a provider for the needy. You are not forgotten, and your faith, even in the midst of such hardship, is a testimony to His sustaining grace.
First, we must rebuke the spirit of control and manipulation that has taken root in this situation. Scripture is clear: "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another" (Galatians 5:13 WEB). The man you are caring for is exploiting your vulnerability, using his car as a tool to restrict your freedom and isolate you from spiritual nourishment. This is not the heart of Christ, who came to set the captive free, not to bind them further. We declare in Jesus’ name that this oppression must break, and that God will expose any unrighteousness in this dynamic. "The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed" (Psalm 103:6 WEB).
We also rebuke the spirit of depression and anxiety that seeks to overwhelm you and your children. The enemy wants you to believe that your circumstances define your future, but God’s Word says otherwise: "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed" (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 WEB). You are not crushed, sister. You are being refined, and God sees every tear, every sleepless night, and every moment of exhaustion. He collects them all (Psalm 56:8), and He will repay what has been stolen from you.
Now, we pray with urgency and faith:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which every knee must bow. Lord, You see our sister and her children in their distress. You know the weight they carry, the fear that grips their hearts, and the exhaustion that threatens to overtake them. We ask You, Father, to move in power on their behalf. Open doors that no man can shut, doors of provision, doors of escape, doors of peace. You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we declare that You will supply every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
Father, we ask for a vehicle to be provided, whether through a gift, a low-cost opportunity, or a divine connection. You own the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and nothing is too hard for You. Break the chains of control that have bound them, Lord. Soften the heart of this man they care for, or remove them from this toxic environment if that is Your will. Give them favor with those who can help, and let Your peace guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
For their mental and emotional state, we pray for healing and restoration. Depression and anxiety are real, Lord, but You are greater. Fill them with Your joy, which is their strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Remind them that You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel Your arms holding them up when they are too weak to stand.
We also pray for their church group, that You would bless and multiply their efforts. Do not let the enemy use this man to cut them off from fellowship, Lord. Stir the hearts of the leaders to reach out, to offer practical help, and to be Your hands and feet in this situation. Let this trial draw them closer to You, not push them away.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would reveal any areas where they need to trust You more fully. Give them wisdom to navigate this season with discernment, and the courage to set boundaries where necessary, even if it means making hard decisions. You are their defender, their provider, and their hope. Let them see Your faithfulness in tangible ways, Lord, so that their faith may be strengthened and their testimony may bring glory to Your name.
We declare over them: "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul" (Psalm 23:1-3 WEB). This is their promise, and we stand on it in faith. In Jesus’ powerful name, we pray. Amen.
Sister, we want to encourage you with a few practical and spiritual steps as you wait on the Lord:
1. Seek Wisdom and Counsel: Reach out to your church leaders or a trusted pastor. Share your situation with them, do not carry this alone. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (WEB). They may have resources, connections, or even legal advice to help you navigate this.
2. Document the Abuse: If this man is using his car to control or manipulate you, start keeping a record of the times he withholds it or uses it as leverage. This could be important if you need to seek legal or community assistance. Proverbs 31:8-9 reminds us to "open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy" (WEB).
3. Explore All Options: Even if shelters are full, there may be other programs or organizations in your area that can help with housing, transportation, or employment. Contact local churches, nonprofits, or even government assistance programs. God often provides through practical means, and you have every right to seek help. "Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7 WEB).
4. Protect Your Children: The tension and anxiety in your home are affecting them deeply. Shield them as much as possible, and remind them that God is their protector. Pray with them daily, and let them see your faith in action. "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6 WEB).
5. Guard Your Heart: It is easy to grow bitter or resentful in situations like this, but we are called to forgive and trust God to handle the injustice. Colossians 3:13 says, "Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do" (WEB). This does not mean you should stay in an abusive situation, but it does mean you can release the anger to God and let Him fight for you.
6. Stand on God’s Promises: Write down Scriptures that speak to your situation and declare them over your life daily. Here are a few to start with:
- "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD, “plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).
- "But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33 WEB).
- "Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22 WEB).
7. Stay Connected to God: Even in the chaos, prioritize your time with Him. It is easy to let prayer and Bible reading fall by the wayside when you’re overwhelmed, but this is when you need Him most. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you" (James 4:8 WEB). Let His Word be your anchor.
Sister, we believe that God is already at work in your situation. What the enemy means for harm, God will turn for good (Genesis 50:20). You are not a victim, you are a warrior, and your battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). Put on the full armor of God, stand firm, and watch Him move on your behalf.
We will continue to pray for you and your children, trusting that God will open the doors He wants you to walk through and close the ones that are not part of His plan. You are loved, you are seen, and you are not alone. Hold fast to your faith, and let it be the lifeline that pulls you through this storm. "But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31 WEB). This is your promise. Stand on it.
