Your request has been heard and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord for your needs and for your husband.
We pray first for your housing and financial burden. You shared about the ### dollars owed from the eviction, staying with your sister for now, and needing a place to stay before she moves in September. We ask God our Father to provide for your daily needs, to open a door for safe and stable housing, and to give you wisdom and help as you seek to meet this debt in an honest and responsible way. We pray that you would know His provision and peace, and that He would guide you to faithful help and counsel in your local church as you look for work, steward what He provides, and make plans for the months ahead. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and we ask Him to show His power and mercy in your situation according to His perfect will.
We also lift up your husband for deliverance, as you asked. You spoke with humility about seeing his hurt and his struggles with drugs, alcohol, gambling and lust. These things bring deep harm to a person, to a marriage, and to a family, and they do not please God. We pray that God would bring him to repentance and to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We pray that the Lord would break the power of addiction and set him free, that He would cleanse his heart from lust and give him a love for purity and self control, and that He would deliver him from the love of money and the deceit of gambling. We ask that God would bring godly men around him for accountability, and help him to seek real help for these struggles.
We thank God for the humility you showed in saying you have often thought only of yourself and not of what he is going through. Scripture calls wives to a gentle and quiet spirit, to meekness and propriety and respect, and calls husbands to love and honor their wives. In that same way Scripture teaches that the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church, and that the wife is to submit to her husband as unto the Lord, and that neither should deprive the other except by consent. It also commands that a wife not depart from her husband, and if she does depart, to remain unmarried or be reconciled. These commands are given for our good and to protect marriage from the schemes of the enemy, who would use separation and hardness of heart to drive a husband and wife further apart and into greater sin. We encourage you, as God gives you strength, to pursue gentleness and meekness rather than harshness, to speak the truth in love, and to seek peace and reconciliation where it is possible, while also seeking wise and safe counsel from mature believers in your church about how to love your husband well and not enable sin.
We pray for you as well, that God would strengthen you, guard your heart from bitterness, and help you to love your husband with a Christlike love that desires his holiness and healing more than comfort alone. May the Lord give you discernment, endurance, and hope, and may He be glorified in your marriage as you both turn to Him.
Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who alone saves. Have mercy on this sister and her husband. Provide for her housing and financial need before September, give her wisdom for each step, and help her to trust You day by day. Have mercy on her husband and deliver him from drugs, alcohol, gambling and lust. Bring him to repentance, wash him clean by the blood of Jesus, and make him a new man who walks in purity and faithfulness. Heal what is broken between them, teach them to honor one another as You have commanded, and keep them from the traps of the enemy. Give them a church family that will walk with them, speak truth, and offer real help. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen.
