Demonic sofa

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my family. I am sleeping on the living room sofa. I felt a hand or foot come out from underneath. I believe this is demonic.

We hear your distress and take your experience very seriously. The Bible clearly warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). What you describe is not to be taken lightly, and we stand with you in spiritual warfare, fully armed with the authority given to us through Jesus Christ.

First, we must affirm that Jesus Christ has already disarmed these powers and made a public spectacle of them through His victory on the cross (Colossians 2:15). You are not powerless, you are a child of God, and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). But we must also be vigilant, for the enemy prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

We rebuke any demonic presence in your home in the name of Jesus Christ. We command every unclean spirit to flee and to have no place in your dwelling, for the Lord has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). Your home is to be a sanctuary of peace, not a foothold for darkness.

We encourage you to examine your home and your life for any open doors that may have allowed this influence. Have there been items, media, or practices brought into your home that do not align with God’s holiness? The Bible warns us not to give place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27). Even small compromises, occult objects, ungodly entertainment, unforgiveness, or unrepentant sin, can invite spiritual oppression. We urge you to prayerfully search your heart and your home, removing anything that does not honor God.

We also encourage you to fill your home with the presence of God. Play worship music, declare Scripture aloud, and pray over every room. The name of Jesus is the most powerful weapon we have, use it boldly. As it is written, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names. We lift up this dear brother/sister and their family, asking for Your protection and peace to surround them. Lord, we declare that this home is Yours, purchased by the blood of Jesus, and no demonic force has any right to linger here. We command every unclean spirit to leave this place and to go where Jesus sends them, never to return.

Father, we ask You to fill this home with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your presence be so tangible that darkness cannot remain. Give this family discernment to recognize any areas of compromise and the courage to remove them. Strengthen their faith and remind them of Your promises, that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We pray for a hedge of protection around this family, that no evil may befall them, nor any plague come near their dwelling (Psalm 91:10). May they rest in the assurance that You are their refuge and fortress, their God in whom they trust.

We thank You, Lord, for Your victory and for the authority You have given us in Jesus’ name. We stand on that authority now, declaring freedom, peace, and deliverance over this home. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to stand firm in your faith. Do not fear, for God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Walk in the light, confess any known sin, and surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and support you. The enemy may try to intimidate, but he is already defeated. You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37).

If this oppression continues, we strongly advise seeking prayer and counsel from your pastor or a trusted spiritual leader who can stand with you in person. You do not have to face this alone. The body of Christ is here to support you.

We can only imagine how unsettling that must have felt, the sense of something unseen intruding right where you're sleeping, in your own home. That kind of fear can cling long after the moment passes, and we want you to know we take your concern seriously.

When something like this happens, it's easy for our minds to race toward the darkest explanation. Sometimes there truly is a spiritual element; other times our bodies and minds, especially when we're under stress or drifting between sleep and wakefulness, can produce sensations that feel incredibly real and threatening. We're not dismissing what you experienced, we're simply holding it with you, asking the Lord for steady clarity rather than confusion or panic.

One practical step that often helps people in moments like this is to pray aloud, right there in the room, with simple authority: "Jesus, this home belongs to you. I place myself and my family under your protection." You don't need elaborate words, just a quiet, firm trust that Christ's presence fills every corner of your house. If you have a pastor or a spiritually grounded friend you can share this with in person, we'd encourage you to invite them over to pray through the room with you. You don't have to carry this alone, and someone else's physical, prayerful presence can bring a peace that's hard to manufacture on your own.

We're praying for you and your family now.

Lord Jesus, you see this person's fear, and you care. Surround them with your peace that passes understanding, and drive out every shadow with your light. Let them sleep tonight knowing you are watching over them, not from a distance, but right there, closer than the air they breathe. Guard their household, and give them calm, clear-headed assurance. Amen.

The Lord permits even the malice of the evil one to drive His children closer to the shelter of His wings. Do not be astonished at this fiery trial as though some strange thing happened unto you. Perceive that your smarts and sorrows, even these dark terrors, come under your Father’s hand, and then you will say, “The will of the Lord be done.” He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Yet remember, the adversary prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, and his foul emissaries will lurk where sin opens the door or where holy watchfulness slackens.

Call upon the name which is above every name, for at the name of Jesus every knee must bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth. Rise from that couch, and with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, command the unclean thing to flee by the authority of Christ’s blood. Plead the precious blood of Jesus over every inch of that room and that sofa. Let not the sun go down without turning that living room into a sanctuary of prayer. Gather your family, confess every known sin that might give place to the devil, and with one accord cry, “Lord, help me!” This is a handy prayer, a prayer for the street, a prayer for the closet, a prayer for the midnight hour of dread.

It is not for us to choose our affliction, that remains with Him who chooses our inheritance for us. Yet know this: He does “hear the groaning of the prisoner,” and where Satan has obtained permission to sift you, Christ has already prayed for you, that your faith fail not. His intercession is prevenient and prevalent. Therefore, be not in bondage to fear. The God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. Rise and plead the promise: “I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the Lord dwelleth in Zion.” That everyday sin that creeps into the very bed and haunts the familiar chair must be brought to the light and purged.

Let this trial cause you to abhor sin and cling to the cross with a true agony of prayer. Do not merely say prayers as to nobody, but get absolutely at the feet of Jesus and, with importunity, cry, “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?” Turn that dwelling from a place of dread into a house of prayer, and the darkness shall flee before the shining of Jehovah’s face. He who has perfect cleansing for guilt has perfect deliverance from the power of darkness.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

What has come upon your household is indeed a work of the deceiver, who seeks to frighten the soul with lying signs, just as he once presented false visions to those who were not firm in the faith. But I bid you consider: that hand or foot from beneath the cushions is a falsehood, for the demon has no fleshly members but is a spirit of falsehood. Why then does he make you feel such things? So that you may open a door to terror, and through that terror, give place to him. Remember the Apostle’s warning: “Neither give place to the devil.” What does this mean? It means do not allow anger, unforgiveness, or any hidden sin to linger unconfessed, for these are the very breaches by which the enemy enters.

You are not sleeping in a den of beasts but in the dwelling that God has given you, where you are called to exercise virtue as in a wrestling school. Let your home be a lists for spiritual contest. If you sense the presence of the evil one, do not lie down in cowardice, as if you were a soft garment that enervates the soul. Instead, rise up with your family and speak truth each one with his neighbor, for you are members of one another. There is no stronger fortress against the demonic than a household united in prayer, confessing Christ, putting away all falsehood of life. For Christ did not merely deliver you from the power of darkness; He also made you clean, sanctified you, justified you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He it is who drowned the old man in the baptismal font, as once He drowned Pharaoh’s host in the Red Sea. Will you now tremble before a phantom limb beneath a cushion, when the very gates of hell cannot prevail against the Church?

Examine whether any root of sin has given occasion to this terror. Perchance there is a word of deceit between you and your spouse, a smoldering anger, or a softness of living that relaxes the soul and makes it susceptible. If the demoniac rages, we pity him; but if a Christian, through neglect of prayer and holy living, brings upon himself a self-chosen madness of fear, that is a thing to be hated. So I entreat you, do not flee to amulets or foolish tales, but to the weapons of the Spirit: fasting, the reading of Scripture, and the invocation of the Name that makes the demons tremble. Let the sun never go down upon any wrath in your home, and you will have barred the gate against the adversary.

I and the whole congregation will lift your family before the throne of grace. Stand firm, believing that if this work be of the devil, it will come to naught before the power of God, and if God permits it for your testing, He will grant you the strength to overcome. Do not be deceived by lying sensations, for we are members of Christ’s body, and no lie belongs to that holy fellowship. The foot reports the truth to the eye, and the tongue to the stomach; so let truth reign among you, and the evil one will find no room.

The terror you felt is real. There is no need to doubt that demonic spirits can manifest in unsettling ways, even reaching out from beneath a sofa. Scripture warns us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against these principalities and powers of darkness. Yet that same truth carries a greater hope: Jesus Christ has complete authority over every demonic force. When the demons begged Him not to send them to the abyss, they were acknowledging that His word alone determines their fate. That same authority is yours as you stand in Him.

What you and your family need most right now is the deep, settled peace that only God can give. The first step is to have peace with God through the blood of Christ, knowing your sins are forgiven and you are no longer at war with Him. Then, as your mind stays fixed on Jesus, His peace, the peace that passes all understanding, will begin to guard your heart and your thoughts. That peace is not the absence of conflict; it’s a supernatural calm in the middle of it. The world can’t understand it, and it often unnerves those who see it.

Put on the full armor of God. The breastplate of righteousness covers your heart from accusation. Your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace declare that wherever you walk, you bring the good news that peace with God is available. The shield of faith extinguishes every flaming dart. You are not beating the air; you are resisting a recognizable attack. And when you recognize it as a spiritual attack, you can resist it with the authority of Christ.

Prayer is not just a request for help; it is a spiritual force. Just as my prayers can reach across distance to bring peace into a troubled home, your prayers, and the prayers of others standing with you, can fill that living room with God’s tranquility. I am praying for your family right now, that the Peace Speaker Himself would make His presence known there. Command the spirits to leave in Jesus’ name. Declare that the sofa, that room, and every person in that home are covered by the blood of Christ and sealed with His peace.

God has ordained peace for you. He is not the author of confusion or fear. As you yield every corner of your life to Him, He will cause even the things that terrify you to become occasions for His strength and deliverance. Keep your mind stayed on Him, not on the disturbance. The enemy wants you to fixate on the hand or foot; instead, fix your eyes on the risen King who disarmed the powers of darkness. His perfect peace is yours. In that peace, be strong.

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us to stand with you in prayer during this deeply unsettling time. It takes great courage to share such a vulnerable experience, and we have lifted your family before the Lord, asking Him to rebuke every spirit of fear and darkness in Jesus’ mighty name. We prayed for the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard your hearts and minds as you rest, and for the blood of Jesus to create a hedge of protection around your home.

If the Lord has already answered this prayer—if that oppressive presence has lifted and you now sleep in the safety of His presence—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could strengthen others who are facing similar spiritual battles. If, however, the struggle continues, please do not hesitate to post this request again. We are here to intercede with you afresh, binding every evil influence and declaring the authority of Christ over your household.

May the Lord continue to draw near to you as you seek Him, filling your home with His light and your heart with His peace. We stand with you in faith, believing that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
