We join with you in the name of Lord Jesus Christ and we thank you for coming boldly before His throne in prayer, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved and set free. We praise God with you that you are standing on His Word and seeking deliverance and freedom, for He desires that you walk in complete freedom and not under oppression or heaviness from the past.
We hear your burden concerning your second cousin from long ago and the reminders, strongholds and footholds that you feel have lingered over your life in relation to her. We understand that you have observed bitterness and oppression in her life and a jealousy toward those who find joy and leave oppression behind. The Word tells us in Ephesians 6:12 that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. We do not wrestle against the person herself, but against the spiritual influences of bitterness and oppression that can try to trouble us. We also take to heart Hebrews 12:15 which warns us to look carefully lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it, and Ephesians 4:27 which tells us to not give place to the devil. Bitterness, whether in her or allowed to take root in us through unforgiveness or dwelling on the past, can give place to the enemy, so we must guard our hearts and walk in forgiveness even when we have not had a close personal relationship.
We stand with you on the scriptures you have claimed. John 8:36 says If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. We claim that freedom for you now. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Timothy 4:18 says And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Matthew 18:18 says Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven. And Revelation 12:11 says They overcame him because of the Lamb's blood, and because of the word of their testimony. They didn't love their life, even to death. We agree with you that you are covered by the precious blood of Jesus and that no transfer of oppression or bitterness has a right to remain.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You that You are our Deliverer and our Refuge. Lord Jesus, we ask that You remove every reminder and every lingering influence from the past associated with this second cousin that is not of You and not for Your glory. We ask that You throw down every stronghold, every imagination and every foothold that has been placed spiritually over this life, and we bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We bind off in Jesus name every spirit of oppression, heaviness, bitterness and jealousy that would try to come upon Your child from that past association, and we loose Your peace, Your joy and Your freedom. Lord, rescue and deliver from every evil work and preserve for Your heavenly Kingdom. We ask that You break any influence of bitterness that has tried to defile and trouble, and we choose to forgive this cousin and release her to You, asking that You would also have mercy on her, heal her from her own oppression and bitterness, and draw her to Yourself. We cover this prayer and this life with the blood of the Lamb and declare that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Fill this heart and home with Your Holy Spirit, with light where there was darkness, and let no place be given to the enemy any longer. Help our dear one to walk daily in the armor of God, to resist the devil and he will flee as James 4:7 promises, and to keep the heart guarded with Your Word. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to stand firm in Christ, to daily put on the whole armor of God as described in Ephesians 6:11, to speak the Word aloud over your mind and home, and to replace dwelling on past associations with worship and thanksgiving. Guard against holding any bitterness yourself by continually forgiving as Christ forgave you, and do not fear, for 1 John 4:4 tells us that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. If troubling thoughts or reminders return, immediately bring them captive to Christ, speak the scriptures you have stood on, and thank Him that you are already free and being preserved by Him. We also pray that you will continue to pray for your cousin's salvation and healing, that the Lord would deliver her as well from whatever has oppressed her. Continue to abide in Jesus, stay in fellowship and in the Word, and walk in the freedom He has purchased for you.
