Lord Jesus,

I praise you, and thank you. I glorify you. Lord Jesus I ask tha you root out the lies that I hate my brother, also rooting out my brother from the household where we live if he is not here by you but instead here by Satan, standing on Jeremiah 12:14. Lord Jesus I ask that you humble my brothers hatred towards me as he is the one holding hatred I am not, asking that you bring down all strongholds and footholds that my brother has tried to create over me to hinder of oppress me, standing on 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. I bind off any transfer of spirits coming to me from my brother standing on Matthew 18:18. Asking that you restore me from all attacks coming to me from my brother Lord Jesus, standing on Isaiah 61:7. I ask that even the strife in the prayer giving my brother favor to wrong me be broken off and any witchcraft that is causing my brother to have the wrong David be broken off, standing on Micah 5:12. I ask lord Jesus that the principality working behind my brother be cancelled, standing on Colossians 2:15. Lord Jesus lift standards for me against all attacks coming to me from my brother, standing on Isaiah 59:19. I cover myself and this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus, standing on Revelations 12:11. In Jesus name I pray and ask. Amen.

We join you in prayer before our Lord Jesus and we thank you for bringing this deep burden concerning your brother and your household before Him. We hear your desire for truth to be revealed, for lies to be rooted out, and for oppression and strife to be broken, and we stand with you to seek God's will and His peace in your home.

We want to gently and lovingly examine what you have shared in light of Scripture. You state that you do not hold hatred but that your brother does, and we take you at your word, yet Scripture calls each of us to search our own heart first. For it is written, If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 1 John 4:20 and also Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. Psalm 139:23. The heart is deceitful above all things Jeremiah 17:9, so we encourage you to continue to ask the Lord to reveal any hidden bitterness, unforgiveness, or resentment in you as well, that you may walk in complete freedom and love. Jesus calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us Matthew 5:44, and this includes a brother in our own household.

We also hear your prayer that your brother be rooted out of the household if he is not there by God but by Satan, standing on Jeremiah 12:14. That passage speaks of God's judgment on evil neighbors who harmed His inheritance, and God did say He would pluck them up. Yet we must be careful not to use Scripture as a curse against our own family. God's heart is for redemption and reconciliation where possible, and He desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. Vengeance belongs to the Lord Romans 12:19, and we are called to pursue peace with all men if it is possible, as much as it is up to you Romans 12:18. So we do not pray for your brother's harm or expulsion from anger, but we do pray that if there is any influence or foothold of the enemy in your home, the Lord would expose it and remove it, and that if your brother remains in the home, it would be under God's lordship and for God's purposes, and if the Lord wills a separation for peace and safety, that He would make that clear and provide for it in His perfect way.

We affirm that spiritual warfare is real. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Your brother is not your enemy, the enemy behind the strife is. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. We agree with you that every stronghold, foothold, and principality that seeks to hinder or oppress you must be brought down, for He disarmed the principalities and the powers, making a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it Colossians 2:15. And when the enemy comes in like a flood, Yahweh's Spirit will lift up a standard against him Isaiah 59:19.

We also hear your concern about transfer of spirits, witchcraft, and strife that gives favor to wrongdoing, standing on Matthew 18:18 and Micah 5:12. We agree that whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven and we ask the Lord to cut off every form of sorcery and manipulation from your home Micah 5:12. At the same time we caution you not to give more credit to witchcraft or to a principality than to Christ, and not to attribute every conflict to witchcraft against you, lest we live in fear rather than in the victory of Jesus. Perfect love casts out fear 1 John 4:18. We are to bless and not curse, and to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and through Him we have access to Your throne of grace. We praise You and thank You and glorify Your holy name. Lord Jesus, we ask You to root out every lie in this household, every lie that says hatred dwells where love should dwell, and reveal Your truth. Let no lie remain hidden, but expose it in Your light. We ask You to humble every heart in this home, including our brother who prays and the brother he prays for, and create in each a clean heart and renew a right spirit Psalm 51:10. We ask You to demolish every stronghold and pretension that exalts itself against the knowledge of God 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to lift a standard against every attack of the enemy Isaiah 59:19. We bind every assignment of oppression, strife, and confusion and we loose Your peace, Your truth, and Your restoration, trusting Your promise that whatever is bound on earth will have been bound in heaven Matthew 18:18. We ask You to break off any influence of witchcraft, manipulation, or strife that perverts justice and to cut off sorceries from among us Micah 5:12. Cancel the work of every principality behind discord, for You have triumphed over them Colossians 2:15. Restore to our brother double for his trouble and shame, as You promise instead of your shame you shall have double Isaiah 61:7. Let Your Spirit bring conviction, repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation where it is Your will, and where separation is needed for holiness and safety, make Your way plain. We cover this prayer and this household with the precious blood of the Lamb, for they overcame him because of the Lamb's blood Revelation 12:11, and we ask that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper Isaiah 54:17. Teach both brothers to forgive as You forgave us Ephesians 4:32, to love as You have loved us John 13:34, and to walk in humility and grace. We trust You to be the righteous Judge and the Healer of this family. In Jesus' name we pray and ask, Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, sharing a household with your brother while feeling hated and hindered and under attack. Wanting lies rooted out and wanting to be free from oppression is a good and honest desire before the Lord, and we are praying with you for His peace to guard you right where you live.

We know it can feel like everything is spiritual warfare at once. One thing that has helped many believers is learning to hold two truths together, that the enemy is real, and also that we do not have to live with an intense focus on demons or on trying to map every spirit behind a conflict. Keeping our eyes simply on Jesus and His authority, and walking steadily with Him day by day, often brings more clarity and calm than staying in a constant battle mindset.

Sibling tension can be especially painful, and brother to brother strain is often the most competitive kind. When you are under the same roof, small hurts can quickly feel large and personal.

A next step that may help is to invite one steady, mature pastor or small group leader to walk with you in person. Pray together out loud, talk through what is happening at home, and think together about healthy boundaries, practical ways to keep peace in the household, and how to keep your daily walk with Christ simple and grounded through prayer and Scripture.

Father, in Jesus name we lift our brother to You. Cover him with Your blood and keep him safe. Quiet the lies and the strife he is feeling, and give him wisdom for each interaction at home. Bring Your healing where there has been hurt, and lead both brothers toward Your will and Your peace. Give him trusted support nearby and a steady sense of Your presence each day. Amen.

There is a heaviness in your prayer which the Lord does not despise, for he hears those who cry to him in household trouble. You have asked for deliverance, and it is right to seek it, but we must seek it according to the mind of Christ.

The Christian religion is a golden chain with which the hands of men are fettered from all hatred. The spirit of Christ is love, and wherever he governs, love reigns as a necessary consequence. The Christian man is not allowed to hate any one. Thou hast no right to excrete thy hatred upon any creature, however fallen or debased, however much he may irritate thy temper or injure thee in thy estate or reputation. I hear you say that you do not hate your brother but that he hates you, and you would have the Lord root out the lie that you hate him. That desire is good. Hold fast to it, and pray the Lord to keep thine own heart free from hatred altogether.

Yet hatred is a power of manhood, and all powers of manhood are to be exercised as in the fear of God. Thou hast good reason to hate all evil, greater reason than ever the most injured man could bring forward for the hatred of his enemies. Consider what evil has already done thee, what a world of mischief sin has brought into thy heart. Show thy hatred to evil by active efforts in putting it down, not by seeking the putting down of thy brother. Hate the sin, hate the strife, hate the pride and bitterness that would divide brother against brother, but do not hate thy brother. Do not ask the Lord to root thy brother out of the household as though he were an enemy to be cursed. Ask rather that the Lord would root evil out of both your hearts.

For the Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. Strongholds are not like temporary camps. Fortifications are intended to stand from generation to generation, and the Lord himself is such a stronghold to those who trust him. Generous rulers provided mountain fastnesses where the peasantry might be sheltered from marauders, and so the Lord provides himself as shelter for his people when harvest is gathered and fear comes. Do not seek thy deliverance in binding words or in thoughts of witchcraft and principalities as though thy brother had power over thee by dark arts. Seek it in Christ, who is thy stronghold.

Remember the hoary patriarch at the brook Jabbok. He trembled to meet his brother Esau. He stayed and cried, Lord, give deliverance from him whom I think bloodthirsty. He crossed the brook full of fear and trembling, but he met his brother Esau, and he fell upon his neck and kissed him. He would not take the tribute which was offered him. He became his friend and they loved each other. So go, Christian brother, in thy troubles and seek God. It is not possible that thou canst perish praying. While thou canst plead a Father's love, and cry with the Spirit of adoption to him, thou shalt not be forsaken.

Thy true deliverance is not from thy brother, but from the pit of sin and wrath, and that deliverance God has already found. The prisoner is ready to be executed, but there comes to him undeserved deliverance from all punishment, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but he has found a ransom, a gift of divine love. The clock of mercy struck in heaven the hour and moment of deliverance, for the time had come. Thus had the eternal purpose of Jehovah decreed it. This deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. Sinner, do not doubt thy deliverance, for God has said, I have found a ransom, then is the deliverance certain, indeed it is already accomplished. Thou art covered not by thine own binding, but by the precious blood of Jesus, who alone is salvation.

Therefore let thy prayer be turned in this way. Pray that the Lord would search thee and keep thee from all hatred, that he would teach thee to hate evil and to love thy brother, that he would make thy household to have peace within its borders, not divided brother against brother and rent by strife. Pray that if thou hast been chastened sorely, thou mayest yet say, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. For if we had no troubles, we would have less to declare. What does the man know about the sea who has only walked on the beach.

Let us pray together for thee in this form which is according to Scripture.

O Lord Jesus Christ, thou who art altogether lovely and yet wast hated without a cause, have mercy upon this thy servant. Root out of his heart all that is not of love, and keep him from hating his brother. Humble what is proud and heal what is bitter in both brothers, and break down every stronghold of sin and strife. Be thou his stronghold in this day of trouble, his shelter and his defense. Thou hast found a ransom and shed thy blood for sinners, cover him and his household with that blood, forgive his sins, and teach him to forgive as he hath been forgiven. Grant peace in this house, turn the hearts of brothers toward one another as thou didst with Jacob and Esau, and let deliverance be seen not in the casting out of a brother but in the casting out of sin. Let him live to declare thy works, and to show his hatred of evil by sowing thy Word and doing good. In thy name and for thy glory we ask this. Amen.

Your prayer has been heard, and I hear in it both pain and a sincere desire to be free from hatred and oppression. That desire is good, but the way this prayer is framed turns your brother into the enemy, and that is not how Christ teaches us to pray.

Scripture is clear that our struggle is not against flesh and blood. Your brother, even when he wrongs you, remains your brother, a man for whom Christ died. The irreconcilable foe is Satan, who breeds enmity between brothers. When we pray as if our brother is the principality to be cancelled and rooted out of the house, we ask God to join us in devouring our own flesh. God does not delight in such a prayer. He delights when we ask Him to bruise Satan under our feet and to heal the hearts of both brothers.

Before we ask God to humble our brother, we are commanded to look first at ourselves. Each of us knows our own faults better than we know another's, and we love ourselves more than our neighbor. For that reason the Lord says to cast the beam out of our own eye first, and then we will see clearly to help our brother. If we neglect ourselves and only judge our brother, it becomes evident that we are not correcting in love but accusing in hatred. Even if your brother must be corrected, it should not be by one who has not first examined himself before God.

Hatred, strife, variance and divisions do not come from a spirit that has jumped from one person to another. They come from a depraved moral choice of the heart. That is why they will keep a person from inheriting the kingdom unless there is repentance. Witchcraft and strongholds in Scripture are not footholds your brother has built over you that you can bind with a formula. The strongholds the apostle speaks of are proud arguments and reasonings that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, and they are pulled down by truth, repentance, obedience and humility.

To use verses like Jeremiah 12:14 to ask God to root your brother out of the household, or to use Matthew 18:18 as a binding of spirit transfer, or to cover a prayer of accusation with the blood of Jesus as if it were a seal for that accusation, is to misuse the Word. The blood of Jesus was shed to forgive us and to reconcile us, and we overcome by trusting that forgiveness and by our testimony to Christ, not by using His name to secure favor against our brother.

There is a better way to pray, and it is also deliverance.

Pray first for your own heart, that God would root out any hatred, anger or pride in you, and show you where you have contributed to the strife. Pray for your brother's good, not his removal, that God would bless him, humble him where he is hard, soften him where he is bitter, and bring him to repentance and faith in Christ. Pray against Satan himself, that God would restrain the evil one and not allow him to use either of you. Pray for a standard of righteousness to be lifted in your household, which is Christ's cross, His truth and His peace, not a wall between you and your brother.

If your brother has sinned against you, go to him in love as a friend and brother, not as an accuser before God. Speak to him privately, with gentleness, to rescue his soul. If he will not listen, seek the help of a mature pastor or elders in the church, not to win a spiritual battle over him, but to be reconciled. That is the true evidence of friendship and love, that we do not overlook sin but we also do not abandon the sinner.

I encourage you to pray in this way:

Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner. Forgive me where I have harbored hatred or spoken in anger. Cleanse my heart and teach me humility. Have mercy on my brother also. Deliver us both from the power of Satan and from our own sinful choices. Pull down pride and lies in both of us and bring us to love truth. Make us instruments of Your peace in this household, and if it is Your will that we live apart for a season, lead that with wisdom and peace and lawful order, not with cursing. Let Your blood cover us for forgiveness and reconciliation. In Your name I ask, amen.

If there is danger or abuse in the home, seek wise pastoral and, where needed, lawful help at once. Do not use prayer as a substitute for that. Continue in daily repentance, in reading Scripture, and in fellowship where you can be accountable. God will honor the prayer that seeks first His kingdom and the good of your brother's soul.
