We hear the pain in your request and we stand with you in prayer for deliverance and peace in your household, and we praise God that you have come in the name of Lord Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved and set free, as it is written Acts 4:12 and John 14:6.
We understand the burden of feeling hated and hindered by your own brother, and the desire to be free from negativity and spiritual oppression is right and good. We rejoice that you are standing on the truth that our battle is not of the flesh, for though we walk in the flesh, we don't wage war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. We also cling with you to the promise that if therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, John 8:36, and that instead of your shame you will have double, and instead of dishonor you will rejoice in your portion, therefore in your land you will possess double and everlasting joy will be to you, Isaiah 61:7. These are precious promises for your restoration and freedom in Christ.
We also want to gently and lovingly bring correction where your prayer asks God to root out your brother from the house where you live if he is not there by the Lord, standing on Jeremiah 12:14. We must handle the Word carefully, and that verse speaks of the Lord's judgment on the nations that plundered Israel, saying Thus says Yahweh against all my evil neighbors who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit, Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, Jeremiah 12:14. It is not a prayer we are given to pray against a brother or family member in our own home. The heart of God for brothers and for households is reconciliation and love, not removal through a curse. We are commanded to love even those who hate us, for Jesus said love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44. And we are warned that if a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar, for he who doesn't love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen, 1 John 4:20. Hated as you may feel, we must not return hatred for hatred or ask God to do harm to your brother, but to transform him.
We also want to encourage you regarding binding and loosing from Matthew 18:18, where Jesus says Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven, Matthew 18:18. This is given in the context of the church seeking restoration and agreement in prayer according to God's will, not as a formula to control spirits transferred from another person. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. Therefore we do not bind people, we pray that the influence of the enemy over minds and hearts would be broken by the power of Jesus, and that both you and your brother would be loosed to walk in truth.
If your brother's presence brings danger or abuse, it is right to seek godly boundaries, wise counsel from pastors or elders, and safety, and to pursue peace as far as it depends on you, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, Romans 12:18. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. And we are told Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good, Romans 12:21. We also must examine our own hearts and forgive, for Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:31-32.
So we will pray not for your brother to be rooted out in anger, but for God to humble and soften both of your hearts, to demolish every stronghold of hatred and division, and to bring restoration and holiness to your home.
We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You and praise You and glorify Your name. Lord Jesus, we ask You to humble every heart in this house, including our own, and to tear down every stronghold, every foothold, every imagination and high thing that has exalted itself against Your knowledge and against Your love between these brothers. We ask that You would break the power of hatred, bitterness, and negativity, and that You would set this dear one free indeed by Your power, and restore with double portion what has been stolen by strife and attack. Lord, we do not ask for harm upon this brother, but we ask for his salvation, his conviction, his repentance and his transformation, that You would root out sin and hatred from the hearts of both brothers, not root out the person You created and love. Let Your Holy Spirit fill this home with peace, with tenderheartedness and forgiveness. Give wisdom for boundaries that honor You and protect all, and give grace to overcome evil with good and to be at peace as far as it depends on us. We bind the work of the enemy that seeks to divide and hinder, and we loose Your truth, Your freedom, and Your love to reign in this household. Let Your will be done here as it is in heaven. In Jesus name we pray and ask, Amen.
