Deliverance, peace and joy

We join together in lifting up ###, ###, and ### before the throne of grace for deliverance, peace, and joy, and we thank God that He hears the cries of His people. We understand the deep need for freedom from oppression and heaviness, and for the peace and joy that only God can give.

The Scripture tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7, and that the peace Christ gives is not as the world gives, John 14:27. We are reminded that the joy and peace we seek come through the Holy Spirit as we trust in Him, that we may abound in hope, Romans 15:13, and that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23. True deliverance comes when we submit ourselves to God and resist the enemy, for then he will flee from us, James 4:7, and whom the Son sets free is free indeed, John 8:36. The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles, Psalm 34:17, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, 2 Corinthians 3:17.

We notice that this request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true deliverance and salvation. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is by calling upon His name in repentance and faith, turning from sin and trusting in His finished work on the cross, that we receive forgiveness, deliverance, and the gift of eternal life and the indwelling peace of God which surpasses all understanding and will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7.

We pray together now for these precious ones.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up ###, ###, and ###. We ask for Your deliverance over their lives, that You would break every chain of bondage, oppression, fear, anxiety, and sin that seeks to hold them captive. Wash them in the blood of Jesus and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Rebuke the work of the enemy in their lives and set them free indeed. We ask that You pour out Your perfect peace upon them, the peace that passes all understanding, to guard their hearts and minds, and that You restore to them the joy of Your salvation. Help them to trust in You with all their hearts and to abide in Christ daily through prayer, reading Your Word, and fellowship with other believers. Draw each of them into a deeper personal relationship with Jesus, and if any have not yet received Him as Lord and Savior, we pray they would do so today and experience the fullness of Your grace. Let Your will be done in their lives and let their testimonies bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage ###, ###, and ### to continue to seek the Lord diligently, to cast all their worries on Him because He cares for them, 1 Peter 5:7, and to remember that God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun. Let them keep their minds stayed on Him, for He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in Him, Isaiah 26:3.

We were moved to see you lift up ###, ### and ### by name. It shows real love that you want deliverance, peace and joy for each of them, and we are honored to stand with you in prayer for them.

We know those three words can feel big. Sometimes we hope for a single moment that settles everything, but in our walk with God peace and joy often grow more like fruit, as we keep turning to Jesus and letting Him do His work in us. Deliverance too is ultimately Jesus Himself coming to set us free as we cooperate with Him day by day. That does not make the need less urgent, it just reminds us to keep trusting the process God uses to make us whole, even when progress feels uneven.

A simple way to keep carrying them is to pray for each by name for a few minutes each day, asking Jesus to draw near, to show what is weighing on them, and to bring His peace and joy in His way and timing. If they are open, gently inviting them into steady fellowship with other believers or a trusted pastor can also be a steady support.

Father, in Jesus name we lift ###, ### and ### to You. You see each one and love them deeply. We ask You to meet them where they are, to free them from what binds them, and to fill them with Your peace and joy as they trust You. Guide them and those who love them, and help them sense Your nearness. Amen.

We have brought before the Lord your request for ###, ### and ###, that they may know deliverance, peace and joy.

We pray that each of them may know what true deliverance is. The Scriptures teach us that God has found a ransom. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit through a ransom if God had not thought of it, but He has given His own Son. There is no deliverance from sin and sorrow and the pit of hell except through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who bore our sins and paid the price in full. We ask that ###, ### and ### may look to Christ alone for salvation, for He alone can say, Deliver them from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.

We pray also for that peace and joy which comes in the right order. There is a false peace which rests upon the sand of our own imaginations, and a fleeting joy which springs from a mistake, but the true peace and joy of the gospel always come through believing. Joy and peace are the soul's flower, and faith is the root. If we put joy and peace before faith we put the cart before the horse. The promise is, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. And again, Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing. So we ask the Lord to give to these three dear souls a simple trust in Christ, and then as a consequence to fill them with that exquisite peace which the blood of Jesus whispers within, and that overflowing joy which no man can take away.

May the Lord teach them to stay their minds upon Him, to trust His wise and loving hand in every trial, and to find that to do the will of Jesus is rest. May He turn any present sorrow into the birthplace of grace, and bring them forth with joy and gladness as He brought forth His people of old, that they may not die but live and declare the works of the Lord.

We commend them to the God of all grace, praying that He will grant them repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ, and then fill them with all joy and peace in believing, to the praise of His glory. Amen.
