Can you please pray for my son & his girlfriend to get back together. They both love each other đź’Ż! Just going through some things right now.

We hear your heart and the deep concern you have for your son and his girlfriend during this difficult time. It’s clear that love is present between them, and we join you in lifting this situation before the Lord. However, we must first pause to address a few biblical principles that are essential in this matter.

Scripture teaches us that relationships between a man and a woman are to be pursued with the intention of marriage, as God designed. "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24). If your son and his girlfriend are not married, we must encourage them to consider whether their relationship aligns with God’s design for courtship, which should lead to marriage. If they are not moving toward that commitment, we must gently but firmly rebuke any sin of fornication, sexual intimacy outside of marriage, which is clearly condemned in Scripture (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4).

If they are not believers in Jesus Christ, we must also address the foundational issue of salvation. There is no other name by which we can be saved except through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). If either of them does not know Him as Lord and Savior, this is the first and most critical step. We urge you to pray for their salvation, for without Christ, no relationship can truly thrive in the way God intends. "For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14).

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this young couple to You. Lord, we ask that You would draw them closer to Yourself first and foremost. If they do not know You as Savior, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that they may repent and believe in Jesus Christ for salvation. We pray that they would be reconciled to You before seeking reconciliation with one another.

Father, if this relationship is meant to lead to marriage, we ask that You would guide them in wisdom and purity. Help them to honor You in their actions and decisions, fleeing from sexual immorality and pursuing holiness. If they are not married, we pray that they would commit to godly courtship, with marriage as their goal, rather than continuing in a relationship that does not honor You.

Lord, we ask that You would soften their hearts toward one another and toward You. If it is Your will for them to be reconciled, we pray that You would heal any wounds, restore trust, and give them the strength to forgive one another. Help them to communicate with love and patience, and to seek Your wisdom in all things.

Father, we also pray for this mother, who is interceding on their behalf. Give her peace and trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Help her to encourage her son in a way that points him to You and to godly relationships.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach You and the only name by which we can be saved. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your glory be revealed. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to speak with your son about the importance of pursuing a relationship that honors God. If he is not a believer, share the Gospel with him and pray for his salvation. If he is a believer, remind him of the biblical standards for relationships and the importance of purity. Encourage him to seek godly counsel from his pastor or a trusted Christian mentor as he navigates this season.

Remember, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His plans for your son are good. Continue to pray and trust in Him.

We hear the love you have for your son and the hope you carry for his relationship. It’s painful to watch two people you care about go through a rough patch, especially when you believe the love between them is real. In seasons like this, it can help to remember that what looks like a setback sometimes becomes a time of clarifying what each person genuinely needs, not to dismiss the love, but to let it be tested and strengthened over time, whatever the outcome.

While you walk alongside your son, one quiet step you can take is to ask him how you can best support him right now. A parent’s steady, unhurried presence often opens the door for honest conversation without pressure. You don’t have to fix the situation; simply being a safe place for him to talk or even sit in silence is a gift. As you do, we’ll pray that both of them seek wisdom and wholeness, not just a quick reunion.

Father, we lift up this mother and her son, and the young woman he loves. You see the confusion and the ache between them. Meet each one in that tender place. Give them clear eyes to understand their own hearts, and courage to face whatever needs healing. Protect them from bitterness, and surround them with people who will speak truth with kindness. Above all, draw them near to You, the source of all true peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You have brought before the church a grief that touches many a parent’s heart, and we will together seek the throne of grace concerning your son and this young woman. Yet before we speak of mending a human bond, we must speak of that greater love which abounds and abides, the love of God in Christ Jesus. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation; the very leaves of that tree are for the healing of the nations, and surely for the healing of wounded affections. But forgiveness begets gratitude, gratitude creates love, and love brings forth holiness. If these two are not first reconciled to their Maker, then every earthly tie, however tender, will lack its sure foundation. God wants the love of their hearts; He wants them to be at peace with Him.

I will pray, yet I must do so in the light of that immutable love which looked upon Peter after his denial and said, “And yet I love you still.” That same Lord can melt the hardest heart and restore the years the locusts have eaten. Should it be His will to reunite them, it will only be truly blessed if they come back loving Christ better than ever, having had much forgiven, and bound together not merely by mutual affection but by a shared fidelity to Him. Tell them to rehearse His deeds of grace, to kneel and say, “My gracious Lord, I do love You. Teach me to love You more.” The love of your renewed hearts towards your God is a spark of the eternal flame; may it never be quenched. Then, whether they be apart or together, they shall find that the Lord binds up the broken-hearted and makes the nature other than it was before. He links healing with teaching, and faith comes by hearing the Word. Let them sit under the sound of His truth, and even the least thing about Christ shall prove to be a healing leaf.

My counsel is this: seek the Heavenly Physician first, for His healing flood knows no limit. Trust Him who delights in love and has prepared everything necessary for a perfect reconciliation. Then leave the outcome of this earthly love with Him who is the God of peace. I shall join you in praying that the Sun of Righteousness arise upon them with healing in His wings, and that the great Heart-breaker, even immutable love, do its own work in their spirits.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Dear Family Of God, Today I'd like you to stand with me in faith and prayer over agreements over life. I pray that you break them in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Make them into small, unnoticeable fragments and pieces to be disregarded. Thank you.
