We hear your burden and we join with you before the Father in the name of Jesus, thanking Him that you have come with a repentant heart seeking forgiveness and help. We rejoice that you have come in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the assurance of forgiveness. As it is written, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 and Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6
We understand the shame and anxiety you feel from constant calls, visits, and threats, and the fear that this harassment could cost you your new job and disturb the peace of your family and friends. We also hear your honest desire to repay everyone you owe, and that desire honors God. At the same time we must lovingly speak truth about the request that accounts would simply be closed and no further payment required because you feel you have already paid more than you borrowed. Scripture teaches us that God is both merciful and just, and He calls His people to integrity in financial matters. The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously. Psalm 37:21 and Owe no one anything, except to love one another. Romans 13:8 The borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 When we borrow, we enter an agreement before God and man, and that includes the terms and interest we agreed to, even when the burden feels very heavy. To ask God to make a debt disappear while a lawful obligation still remains is not aligned with His principles of honesty and stewardship. Instead He calls us to diligence, truthfulness, and faithful repayment, even if it must be done little by little.
That does not mean God does not care about unjust harassment, intimidation, or predatory practices. He does. He sees your distress and He is your refuge. We also encourage you to act wisely and righteously in this trial. This means keeping careful records of what was borrowed and what has been repaid, communicating honestly and calmly with creditors in writing where possible, seeking to negotiate a fair and lawful repayment plan you can sustain, seeking godly counsel from your pastor or a trusted mature believer, and if needed seeking legitimate financial counseling or legal advice about your rights regarding harassment. The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit. Proverbs 21:5 Taking another personal loan without careful counsel and counting the cost can easily deepen the bondage, so we urge you to seek wisdom before taking on new debt, to live within a careful budget, to be faithful in your new job, and to trust God to provide through diligent work and stewardship rather than through a hasty loan. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
We join you in prayer for provision, protection, and peace.
Father in heaven, we come together in the name of Jesus and lift this dear one to Your throne of grace. We thank You for Your forgiveness and mercy, and we ask You to cleanse and strengthen this heart. Lord, You know the exact weight of this debt and the fear and shame it has brought upon the family. We ask for Your divine provision according to Your riches in glory. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 Give wisdom to steward finances well, to work diligently, and to make a clear plan to repay what is truly owed with integrity. We pray for favor and protection over the new job, that no harassment would jeopardize honest labor, and that You would restrain those who use threats and intimidation. Let creditors act lawfully and justly, and open doors for fair communication and reasonable payment arrangements. We pray for peace in the home, that no unwanted visits would disturb the household, and that family and friends would be shielded from harassment. Guard this family with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 Father, keep this one from despair, from shame, and from any hasty decision, and lead step by step out of debt into freedom and faithful stewardship. We ask not for escape from responsibility, but for strength to do what is right, for Your provision to meet every obligation, and for Your name to be glorified through restored peace and testimony. We pray this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus. Amen.
We encourage you to remain faithful in prayer, in honest work, and in consistent, humble communication with those you owe. Continue to cast your cares on Him, keep your heart free from deceit, and trust that as you walk in diligence and integrity, God will make a way, give you wisdom for each decision, and restore peace to you and your household.
