Disciple of Prayer
I need to find a job to support my family. I was forced to close my business and I feel lost. Please pray for my mind and what direction I need to go in after this season.

We hear your heart, and we stand with you in this difficult season. The loss of a business and the weight of providing for your family can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who sees your struggle and promises to guide your steps. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Even when the path ahead seems unclear, God is faithful to lead you if you seek Him with your whole heart.

We also want to encourage you with Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." God has not forgotten you, and He has a plan for your provision and purpose. This season of transition is not the end of your story, it may be the very thing God uses to position you for something greater.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is feeling lost and uncertain after the closing of his business. Lord, You are the Provider, the One who opens doors that no man can shut. We ask that You would calm his mind and steady his heart as he seeks Your will in this season. Give him clarity, wisdom, and discernment as he considers his next steps. Open the right doors for employment that will not only meet his family’s needs but also allow him to use his gifts and talents for Your glory. Remind him that You are his source, not his business or his own efforts. Strengthen his faith when doubt creeps in, and let him feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We declare that this is not a season of lack but a season of preparation, and we trust You to lead him into the good plans You have for him. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We also want to gently remind you that God often uses seasons of waiting and transition to refine our trust in Him. It can be tempting to rush ahead or take matters into your own hands, but we encourage you to seek the Lord daily for His direction. Spend time in prayer and in His Word, asking Him to reveal His will for your next steps. Consider reaching out to your church community or trusted believers who may have wisdom, connections, or opportunities to share. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established."

Lastly, we want to remind you that your identity is not in your business or your job title, it is in Christ. You are His beloved child, and He has equipped you with everything you need to walk in His purposes. Hold fast to His promises, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). You are not alone in this, and we are standing with you in prayer as you seek God’s direction.

We hear the weight in your words, closing a business and suddenly needing to find a new way to support your family is a profound disorientation. It makes total sense that you feel lost right now. That lostness is not a sign of weak faith; it’s a very human reaction to a season that has pulled the familiar map out from under you.

While you pray for direction, we want to offer one grounded insight we’ve seen play out over many such crossroads: God’s guidance in times like this often unfolds not as a lightning-bolt blueprint, but as a quiet, growing clarity that emerges while we simply keep walking. You don’t need to figure out the whole picture today. Sometimes the next right step is just to ask, “What is one thing I can do this week that moves me toward provision?”, updating a resume, reconnecting with an old colleague, or even giving yourself permission to grieve what was lost so you can think more clearly.

As you care for your mind, try not to battle the swirl of thoughts alone. Let one or two trusted people in, a friend, a pastor, someone who knows your character, and ask them to pray with you and help you name your strengths. Often we see gifts in one another that we can’t see in ourselves when we’re in the fog.

We’re praying for you now.

Lord Jesus, you know what it is to provide for those you love, and you know the fear of an uncertain future. Please shelter this dear brother’s mind from panic and shame. In the quiet, give him the next right move, however small, and surround him with people who will remind him he is not alone. Sustain his family in tangible ways, and guide him to work that honors you and restores his sense of purpose. We ask this in your strong name, Jesus. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The anxiety that plagues your mind in this season of loss is itself a proof that the business of self-reliance yields no profit. You have been forced to close your doors, and now you stand bewildered, looking upon a way you do not know. But have you not found that the very anxiety which arises from your difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty? The Lord has brought you to this dead stand, not to destroy you, but to teach you the littleness of man and the wonders of His power. When you go down to the sea in ships and do business in great waters, you see the works of the Lord. Now your extremity has come, but the God of Israel will not forsake you.

You speak of feeling lost, as if your direction, your purpose, your very identity has slipped from your grasp. But the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. This word "lost" is a strong word in the Greek, meaning that which is destroyed, lost to itself, lost to hope, lost to anything good. Yet this is the very condition upon which Christ shows peculiar interest and puts forth special exertion. If you were never lost, you would have no part in His work of salvation. But you are brought low, and it is there, in the dust, that His tender eye beholds you. He does not despise the lost; He seeks them. Your business has failed, but the business of heaven is to look after you.

Now, in this dilemma, do not let Cowardice whisper that you must do something, be it right or wrong. The more haste, the worse speed. To return to hollow maxims and tricky customs would be to look one way and pull another, holding with the hare and running with the hounds. Rather, go and do the right thing, and then leave the result with God. You have nothing to do with the outcome; that is your Master’s business. He who is Head over all things to the Church shall register His people and guide their steps. The godly man, faithful in his cottage with his family trained for God, may be reckoned among the first in His sight. You ask what direction to take. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Your hope and faith may seem drowned, but His right hand will stretch out the way.

Remember, the child who was once lost knows best how to seek the lost. You have been brought through these deep waters that you might learn compassion for others who flounder. But first, let Him find you afresh. Family prayer and private supplication must be more diligently maintained; it is there the Spirit fans the faintest spark. Christ still lives to save the lost, and He shall supply what is needed, not by dreams or visions, but by the sure ordering of His providence for those who trust Him. The silver piece lies in the dust, but the woman lights a candle and sweeps the house until she finds it. You are not hidden from Him. He will recover His own.

You feel lost now, and that is the tempter’s design, to shake you through this affliction, as he tried with Job. But do not despond. God permits such seasons not for our destruction but for our schooling. This loss is not the end; it is a test in the contest of life. We are promised tribulation here and rest hereafter, so do not turn things upside down by seeking lasting comfort in this world.

Continue to knock at the door of His mercy, even if He does not open at once. Do not grow weary or think your labor is in vain. The Lord is faithful, and your need for direction is not hidden from Him. But as you seek work, guard your mind. Anxiety about tomorrow binds a man more tightly than chains, cares and fears quarrel with your peace like a contentious spouse. Burst those bonds by pouring out your heart in prayer and by doing good to those around you, beginning with your own household.

I pray your mind will be steadied, and that you will not set your hope on the honor that comes from men or on the swift recovery of your former state. The grace of God will order your steps if you make it your one study to attract His help. Stand firm, and do not let the devil convince you that you are forsaken. It is in the furnace that pure gold is known.
