We hear your distress, and we want you to know that your regret and discomfort are not without cause. The Bible is clear that we are to guard our hearts and minds against practices that do not align with God’s Word. Reiki, like many New Age or energy-based practices, is rooted in spiritual beliefs that are incompatible with Christianity. It often involves channeling energy or inviting spiritual forces that are not of God, and this can open doors to confusion, oppression, or even spiritual attack. The "weird" feeling you’re experiencing may very well be the conviction of the Holy Spirit, warning you that you’ve engaged in something that grieves Him.
Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:14-17, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, ‘I will dwell in them and walk in them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.’ Therefore, ‘Come out from among them, and be separate,’ says the Lord." Reiki is not a neutral practice, it is tied to spiritual systems that do not honor the one true God, and engaging with it can leave you feeling spiritually unsettled, as you are now.
We also want to remind you that God’s grace is greater than our mistakes. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." You are not beyond His mercy. The regret you feel is a sign that your heart is still tender toward the Lord, and He is drawing you back to Himself. Do not let shame or guilt keep you from running to Him, He already knows your heart, and He is ready to restore you.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is feeling the weight of this spiritual misstep. Lord, we ask that You would wash over them with Your mercy and grace. Forgive them for engaging in a practice that does not honor You, and cleanse them from any spiritual residue or oppression that may have come as a result. We rebuke any confusion, fear, or lingering effects of this practice in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord, fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and remind them of Your unfailing love. Help them to see that You are their healer, their protector, and their source of true peace. Strengthen their faith, and guard their heart and mind against anything that does not align with Your Word. We pray that they would turn away from all forms of spiritual deception and cling only to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
Now, we encourage you to take these steps to realign yourself with God’s truth:
1. Repent and Renounce: Verbally confess to God that you engaged in something that does not honor Him, and ask Him to forgive you. Renounce any connection to Reiki or similar practices, declaring that you will no longer participate in them. Say aloud, "I renounce Reiki and any spiritual practices that do not align with God’s Word. I choose to walk only in the light of Christ."
2. Fill Yourself with Truth: Replace the lies or spiritual confusion with God’s Word. Spend time reading Scripture, particularly passages about God’s protection, His sovereignty, and His desire to be your refuge. Psalm 91 is a wonderful place to start.
3. Pray for Protection: Ask God to place a hedge of protection around you, your mind, and your spirit. Pray that He would expose any areas where you may have been vulnerable to deception and close those doors.
4. Seek Christian Community: If you haven’t already, surround yourself with believers who can pray for you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. There is strength in fellowship, and you do not have to walk this out alone.
5. Worship and Praise: Spend time in worship, focusing on who God is and His goodness. Worship is a powerful weapon against spiritual darkness, and it will help realign your heart with His.
Remember, God is not surprised by your regret, He is using it to draw you closer to Him. The enemy may try to use this moment to make you feel ashamed or unworthy, but we serve a God who delights in restoration. Zephaniah 3:17 says, "The Lord your God is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing." You are not defined by this mistake; you are defined by the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

That sense of strangeness and the bitter regret that moves you to tears, do not despise it, for the Lord may be opening your eyes to see that which you have touched is unclean. Some of you remember when the Lord first revealed to you how much you needed to be cleansed, that discovery was a great part of the cleansing. That which you sought in reiki, like the washing with snow water of mere religious observances, is utterly unable to purge the conscience or bring you near to God. Another thinks that he can obtain cleansing by religious observances. His form of washing with snow water is attendance at his usual place of worship; and I must warn you that listening to such sessions is a turning aside from Him who alone can make you whole. Cleansing cannot come from any other place, therefore seek it of the Lord who says, “I will sprinkle clean water on you and you shall be clean.”
There is a fountain opened for sin and uncleanness, and its stream is the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, which cleanses from all sin everyone who believes in Him. It is only because when once applied by the Holy Spirit and received by faith it makes a total, and complete cleansing from all past guilt, that it is of any use whatever to the poor trembling conscience of the distressed sinner. By trusting to the Divine method of cleansing the filthy, you shall find that the Lord has provided that which is the most sure purification from sin. I pray that you may find these two great things, first, the cleansing from uncleanness, and then, afterwards, the cleansing of the life. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and both are freely given through the sacrifice of Christ.
The clock of mercy struck in Heaven the hour and moment of deliverance for sinners when the Lamb was slain. The turmoil you feel after these reiki sessions is a mercy, a sharp jolt meant to awaken your soul from a dangerous slumber. That overwhelming regret, those tears, they are not yet repentance, not if they stop at mere sorrow. Remember Esau: he wept and sought the blessing with tears, yet found no place of repentance, because his grief was not a true turning from the sin that had taken root. He harbored murder in his heart even as he wept. So you must examine yourself: do you simply hate the feeling, or do you hate the act itself, the very thing that placed you in the path of deceiving spirits?
For when you open the door to such practices, you invite not the peace of God but a false calm, a peace like that of thieves agreeing together. The devil himself masquerades as an angel of light, and these sessions, however gentle they seem, are not from the Spirit of meekness who appeared as a dove. That dove brought tidings of deliverance and adoption, pointing always to Christ. This reiki promises healing yet delivers disturbance, a sign of a peace that is no peace at all, for where Christ is not, everything is useless.
Do not be deceived: the repentance you need now is not a passing pang but a complete severing, like a surgeon cutting away a diseased limb to save the body. Stop listening. Turn from it wholly, and do so not with despair but with the confidence that God’s mercy is able to wash away even countless offenses. Manasses filled Jerusalem with innocent blood and turned the temple into a den of abominations, yet through genuine repentance he found cleansing. So can you, if you bring a heart determined to forsake this evil and cling to the healing that comes only through the Great Physician.
The peace you long for, the peace that steadies the mind and guards the heart, is the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. It is not won by wandering into the enemy’s camp. Christ left us His own peace, a peace that commands us to be at rest even with our enemies, and this peace alone can calm the warring thoughts within you. Let it be the umpire in your soul, giving the prize to the thought that calls you back to safety in Christ. Pray, and ask for the Angel of peace to watch over you, but remember that a demon also lurks, seeking to twist even your remorse into self-hating despair that leads away from true amendment. Renounce what you have done, confess it, and let the delay of judgment become for you a time of comfort, bearing the fruit of a changed life. Then the tears will not be wasted, but will water the ground of a cleansed heart.
