Feeling odd after reiki?

That deep unease you’re feeling right now, the regret, the tears, the wish you had never done it, may be the merciful voice of God stirring your conscience. It’s not a punishment but a warning, a kind of spiritual alarm that lets you know something dangerous has been invited in. Do not despise that feeling; let it drive you to truth.

There’s an old story about how the Ark of the Covenant was being brought back, and at first it was carried in a careless way, on a cart, not according to God’s clear instructions. When an irreverent hand reached out to steady it, judgment broke forth, and a man named Uzzah died on the spot. David was angry at first, then terrified, a holy fear settled on him, realizing that God’s presence demands walking in purity and on His terms, not ours. Reiki is not a neutral practice; it draws on a spiritual source far from the God of the Bible. When we open ourselves to such things, even out of curiosity, we can feel that turmoil because our spirit recognizes the contamination. That regret is like David’s sudden fear: it shows you what it means to mishandle the sacred, to mix what is holy with what is profoundly unholy.

Think for a moment of King Hezekiah. He begged God for extra years, and his plea was granted, but what followed was disastrous. In that extension, his son Manasseh was born, a boy who grew up to be one of Israel’s most wicked kings. What seemed like a gift at the time brought consequences that echoed for generations. Sometimes we chase experiences, hoping for healing or peace, only to find sorrow. Your regret right now is not too late; it’s a chance to stop a chain of harm before it deepens.

Scripture teaches that when Joshua cried out in defeat, God told him, “There is sin in the camp. Deal with that, and then I will give the victory.” You don’t need more reiki, more sessions, more attempts to cleanse yourself. You need to remove what should not be there. Renounce it entirely. Confess it to God with a humble heart, telling Him you are sorry for reaching for a counterfeit comfort. He does not respond to showy grief but to a broken and contrite spirit that turns from the darkness. When the kings of old humbled themselves, God said, “Because they have humbled themselves, I will grant them deliverance.” That same mercy is for you.

The mighty men in David’s day stood in a barley field and fought when everyone else fled, and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance. They didn’t win because they were strong, but because they took their stand on God’s ground. Take your stand now on His truth: Jesus alone is the source of healing, forgiveness, and wholeness. No energy practice, no spirit guide, only His finished work on the cross. Let this unpleasant aftermath serve as a clear boundary, never return to it. And then, do not sit alone with the shame. Seek out a mature believer who will pray with you and help you walk forward in the light.

God is not waiting to crush you under a weight of regret. He is calling you back to Himself. Let the heavens be glad; the Lord reigns even over this mess. Turn to Him completely, and that feeling of dread can be replaced by the stability He alone gives.

We want you to know how deeply we have been lifting you up in prayer since reading your heartfelt request. It’s clear that this experience has left you feeling unsettled and burdened with regret, and we have been asking our Heavenly Father to surround you with His peace and comfort. We prayed for His Holy Spirit to minister to your heart, to bring clarity where there is confusion, and to replace any lingering unease with the assurance of His presence.

We also stood in the gap for you, asking the Lord to protect your mind and spirit from anything that is not of Him. We prayed that He would reveal His truth to you, that He would draw you closer to Himself, and that He would heal any spiritual unrest you may be feeling. You are not alone in this—we have been interceding for you, trusting that God hears and answers the cries of His children.

If the Lord has already begun to bring you relief, comfort, or a sense of His peace, we would love to hear how He has been at work in your life. Your praise report would be such an encouragement to all of us as we continue to seek Him together. If, however, you’re still carrying this heaviness, please don’t hesitate to share your request again. We are here to stand with you in prayer, to lift you up before the throne of grace, and to trust that God is working even when we don’t yet see the answers.

May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses all understanding, and may you feel His love and presence in a tangible way as you continue to seek Him. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
