Bible Verse for Today

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

—Colossians 3:4 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

My world is beautiful today — great weather, wonderful church, loving spouse, great kids, and blessed with all I truly need. But this will certainly change. Life is bound up with mortality. Love is connected to imperfect people. Separation by geographical distance, disagreement, and death are bound to happen at different points in our...

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

—1 Corinthians 3:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The Corinthians boasted in their wisdom, giftedness, and tolerance. Yet this wisdom, gifted, and tolerance were worldly and not holy. No matter how gifted a church, how full of earthly wisdom its leaders may have, or how tolerant they are to other opinions, if the people of that church are caught up...

And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

—Matthew 3:1-2 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

John's words sound strange in a world afraid to tell the truth about sin, wickedness, and evil. Yet all lost people — people who do not know Jesus and those who claim to follow him but don't obey him — we all desperately need to repent. That means changing our hearts and lives, seeking after God, and turning our behaviors around to live for Jesus as LORD. We choose to...

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

—1 John 3:1 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Some gifts are too precious for words and too wonderful to fully appreciate. The greatest of these gifts is that we are God's children. We have been adopted into the Father's family. Jesus claims us as his younger siblings in God's family (Hebrews 2:14-18). Even though...

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

—Luke 2:29-30 (KJV)

---

Welcome to Leap Day! I wanted to remind you that we are basing our Scripture verses this year on the day — February 29, or 2/29, becomes Luke 2:29. And my prayer for you on this Leap Day is that your relationship with Jesus makes you want to leap for joy and bow in reverent thanks to Jesus for all he has done...

But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

—Jeremiah 2:28 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Let's focus on a straightforward concept today. We must worship God alone! Based on the allocation of our time, interests, lifestyle, money expenditures, and speech, who or what is our god? Is it the Lord God? We do not want to be followers of Jesus...

Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, "The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; but there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets ..."

—Daniel 2:27-28 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Daniel spoke the ageless truth to King Nebuchadnezzar when he wanted his dream interpreted. The question for us is straightforward: "Do we believe what Daniel said?" What is the bedrock...

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

—James 2:26 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

By this definition, I fear that many people claiming to be believers are spiritual corpses. For our faith to be genuine, James says it must express itself in good deeds. Jesus said something similar in his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:21). Faith not only moves mountains but must also move believers to act in ways that honor God and bless others...

And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

—John 2:24-25 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Jesus knows people. He especially knew the crowd and how fickle and selfish people often can be. Jesus did not minister to people, heal the broken, or teach the truth to those who would listen to garner public approval or attention. He wanted our selfish fickleness transformed into character, commitment, and compassion. So, if we're going to know how to...

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

—Acts 2:23 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

When we think of the Cross, we must never associate the words "tragic accident" with it. In this message at the first Pentecost following Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, Peter insisted that two separate streams of power converged at the Cross.

1. Evil had its way and brought the Son of God...
