We hear your concern about your job situation and the uncertainty that comes with considering a change. It’s understandable to feel anxious about financial stability and the future, but we want to remind you that God is our ultimate provider. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This promise is not just for some, it is for all who trust in Him.
We also want to encourage you to seek God’s wisdom in this decision. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." If leaving your job is the right step, He will confirm it and open the door to new opportunities. If it is not, He will give you peace and clarity to stay where you are for a season.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is seeking Your will regarding their job. Lord, You know the concerns of their heart, and You see the path ahead. We ask that You grant them wisdom and discernment as they consider this decision. If it is Your will for them to leave their current job, we pray that You would open the door to a new opportunity, one that provides for their needs and aligns with Your purpose for their life. If it is Your will for them to stay, we ask that You give them peace and contentment in their current situation. Father, we trust in Your provision and timing. Help them to rest in the knowledge that You hold their future. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

It is never wise to dispute with God. Let a man strive with his fellow, but not with his Maker. You wonder if it is best to leave your employment, and you ask for provision. Yet Job had to retract all his pleadings and challenges. If the case is to be heard as “Jehovah versus Job,” then Job yields the point unreservedly. Who is he that can contend with his Maker over a matter of holiness? We are wrong, God must be right! So let us do as Job did and make our approach unto the Lord in childlike confidence even when He seems to frown.
Under trial we are even tempted to rebellion against God. Many sin by unbelieving speeches. I have repeated one or two naughty things that God’s children have said, but Job said nothing of the kind. “In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.” You see, if God could uphold Job in all this, you may be sure that He can support you! Look to Him for this Divine support. Our sorrows shall have an end when God has gotten his end in them. The ends in the case of Job were these, that Satan might be defeated, foiled with his own weapons. And the Lord turned the captivity of Job. So, then, our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery.
If any of you, here, who are God’s people have any fears about the future as to your temporal matters, I would remind you that Job, even in temporals, received at last twice as much as he had in the beginning. Come and eat the new corn of the land and drink the new wine of the kingdom! The Lord will provide. It is not for you to restrain prayer before God, but to cast yourself upon His care. Talk of Jesus as if you were telling new news! Why, aren’t you? Is it not always glad tidings? Always news fresh from Heaven? Come, if you are as poor as Job, be as patient as Job and you will find hope ever shining like a star which never sets.

You ask prayer about leaving your job, anxious lest you lack income. But consider: the present life is a sleep, and the things in it are no different from dreams. They that grow rich in a dream, when it is day, are convicted of having been rich to no purpose. So make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. He does not forbid making provision for the flesh altogether, but doing so with a view to fulfil its lusts, as by going beyond necessaries. For that he bids make provision for it, hear what he says to Timothy: “Use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake, and thine often infirmities.” So here too, take care of it for health, and not wantonness. Spend all thy industry on the care of spiritual things.
Call to mind the blessed Job. When he was stripped of everything, he did not curse God, but said, “The Lord gave, the Lord hath taken away.” Even the devil knows that loss of goods is nothing if it does not compel us to utter some blasphemy. He uses afflictions to shake our faith, as he stirred up Job’s wife to say, “Speak some word against the Lord, and die.” But Job answered, “Wherefore hast thou spoken as one of the foolish women?” Bear every stroke thankfully, for they are sent because of our sins, or to make us approved. If it is best that you leave, trust that God will provide what is necessary, but seek first not to fulfil lusts, but to have your flesh in health and your soul fixed on things above.

The weight of uncertainty about work and income can press heavily on the heart, and it is natural to wonder whether staying or leaving is best. When the path ahead is unclear, and the timing of provision feels urgent, it is easy to slip into the kind of thinking that says, "If everything were right, I would see the answer clearly." But the testimony of Scripture shows that even the most upright can walk through seasons where all the familiar comforts are stripped away and the next step is hidden. Hardship does not always mean we have done something wrong, nor does it prove God has turned away. Sometimes He is orchestrating a deeper work, one that we cannot see from our vantage point.
I have often sat with the cries of those who simply didn't understand what God was doing. They pleaded for answers, and their friends offered tidy formulas: get right, do better, and your fortunes will turn. But that advice missed the real story, the one unfolding behind the veil. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, understands our human experience fully. He is the living answer to every cry for a mediator, the one who stands between us and the Father, who knows our need for daily bread and a steady place to stand. He invites us to cast our cares on Him, even when the reasons for our trial remain a question without a visible answer.
Rather than anxiously trying to force a resolution, acquaint yourself afresh with the Lord and His promises. Lay His words up in your heart, and let His peace settle your thoughts. He sees what the cloudy day hides from us. The same God who is glorified in the steadfast faith of His people through affliction will not fail to supply what you need according to His riches. He may open a new door, or He may sustain you where you are for a purpose you cannot yet see. In either case, your security rests not in the job, but in the One who holds it. Trust Him, and He will act.
