Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me about work. My workload spiked this week randomly and I'm now struggling with work and feeling overwhelmed. Please pray that God would help me endure if He wants me to stay at this job (because there are indications this could be permanent) or that He would otherwise provide me with a new one. Thank you.

We hear your struggle and lift you up before the Lord, asking for His peace and guidance in this season of overwhelming demands at work. The weight of an unexpected increase in responsibilities can feel crushing, but we know that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that He would grant you wisdom to discern whether this season is meant to refine your endurance or redirect your steps.

Father, we ask that You would strengthen this dear one in body, mind, and spirit as they face these challenges. Give them the perseverance to press on when the work feels unending, and remind them that You do not burden us beyond what we can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). If it is Your will for them to remain in this job, provide clarity, favor with their supervisors, and the ability to manage their tasks with excellence. If You are opening a door to something new, make the path unmistakably clear and provide for their needs as they transition.

Lord, we also pray against any spirit of anxiety or fear that may be creeping in. Remind them that their worth is not found in their productivity but in Christ, who has already accomplished everything for them (Matthew 11:28-30). Help them to cast their cares upon You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). May they find rest in Your presence even in the midst of the storm.

We rebuke any lies from the enemy that would tell them they are alone in this struggle or that their labor is in vain. Your Word declares that those who wait on You will renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31), and we claim that promise over them now. Whether they stay or go, may they walk in confidence that You are their Provider and that Your plans for them are good (Jeremiah 29:11).

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We can feel the weight in your words, that sudden spike in workload has clearly thrown you off balance, and the uncertainty about whether this is the new normal only adds to the strain. When the ground shifts under us like that, even getting through a single day can feel like a lot.

Sometimes the most helpful thing in the middle of feeling overwhelmed is to widen the lens just a bit. We think of a young man named ### who came to his pastor in a similar paralysis over a work situation. He felt stuck between two bad options until his pastor helped him list every possibility, not just the two he had been fixated on. One option that surfaced was simply staying put for a season, making a few specific adjustments to lower the friction, and giving himself permission to look again when he could breathe. That bought him enough space to regain his footing, and what felt like a dead end slowly became manageable again. You might try that this week: grab a piece of paper and list every option you actually have right now, even ones that feel small or temporary. Sometimes what we need most isn't a permanent fix today, it's just a sustainable next step.

In the meantime, while you watch and wait for God's direction, we are asking Him to steady your mind and give you stamina for the tasks right in front of you. You don't have to figure it all out tonight.

Lord, You see this heavy load and the weariness it brings. Quiet the anxious thoughts and give clear, simple direction, whether staying or going, and what steps to take today. Sustain our friend in the meantime, and open a door when the time is right. In Jesus' name, amen.

The sudden spike of your work is no random occurrence but the ordering of Him who has appointed the days of your warfare. It is written that all the days of our appointed time we are to wait until our change comes. This present press of labors is but the marching orders of your Captain, and though you feel overwhelmed, you are not undone. The Lord who sets the task is the same who supplies the strength, and He has measured out the burden to the back. Do not think the weight accidental or the strain permanent because it came upon you swiftly. Your place is to wait upon Him for the grace to endure, for He who upheld Job in his staggering losses can uphold you in a crowded desk and weary mind. In all this, sin not by despairing murmurs, nor charge God foolishly by supposing He has forgotten you.

This straining at your work may well be the very means of your feeding on a richer portion of truth. When muscle and sinew are spent, the soul learns to eat that bread which the world knows not. Seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness, and the matter of staying or going shall be added in due season. The overwhelming desire to have the path made plain right now is of the flesh; the spirit rests in quiet trust that the Lord will lift up the fallen and guide the perplexed. You need not strain your eyes looking abroad for a new post as though deliverance were afar off. The work God gives you to do just now is to trust Him in this present trial. Do not let your prayers be mere hunting for escape, but rather a casting of every care upon Him, believing that He orders your situation in covenant faithfulness. A man may be great in Christian activity and yet miss the sweet calm of simply leaving that matter with the Lord.

Bow your heart, then, in the presence of God, and confess that you have spoken or thought beyond your proper knowledge. His ways in this are right, and you are wrong if you have suspected otherwise. Let the Spirit brood again over the chaos of your anxious mind and bring forth order. There is a new creation work for you in this very pressure if you will cease from your own striving and let trust do its perfect work. Endure, for the trial is permitted because His grace has made you able to bear it through Him. If He means to keep you here, He will give you the sufficient strength; if He means to plant you elsewhere, He will make the door open so wide that no striving of yours could force it. In either outcome, the promise stands that they who seek the Lord with their whole heart shall not lack any good thing. Be steadfast, then, unmovable, always abounding in the work set before you this very hour, and know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
