We join you in lifting up this workweek to our Heavenly Father, knowing that all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. It is good to see you bringing your work before the Lord, for Scripture reminds us in Colossians 3:23-24, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* Your labor is not in vain when done unto Him, and we pray that your efforts this week would be fruitful and pleasing to God.
Yet we must also gently remind you that while it is good to pray for favorable circumstances, our ultimate trust must rest in God’s sovereign will—not merely in outcomes we desire. James 4:13-15 warns us, *"Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit,' whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will both live and do this or that.'"*
Let us pray together for your week:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, asking for Your favor and guidance over this workweek. You alone know the plans You have for this brother, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). We ask that You grant him strength, wisdom, and diligence in his tasks. May his work be excellent, reflecting Your glory, and may he find joy in laboring as unto You. If it is Your will for him to take on this additional responsibility of splitting shifts, provide the endurance and clarity he needs. Guard his heart from anxiety or pride, and remind him that his worth is found in You, not in his performance.
We also pray that if there are any areas in his work where he may be tempted to cut corners, act dishonestly, or neglect integrity, You would convict him by Your Holy Spirit. Let him be a light in his workplace, showing kindness, patience, and honesty to his colleagues. May his speech be seasoned with grace, and may he have opportunities to share the hope of Christ with those around him.
Father, we ask that You would go before him this week, ordering his steps and opening doors no man can shut. If there are challenges, use them to refine his faith and draw him closer to You. And if there are blessings, may he steward them with gratitude and generosity.
Most of all, we pray that his heart would remain fixed on You, seeking first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33). May this week be a testament to Your faithfulness, and may he grow in trust that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28).
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Brother, as you go into this week, remember that your work is a platform for worship. Whether the week goes as you hope or takes unexpected turns, fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). If you face frustration or weariness, cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). And if the Lord blesses you with this opportunity to split shifts, do so with a heart of thanksgiving, knowing that every good gift comes from above (James 1:17).
Lastly, we encourage you to start and end each day this week in prayer, surrendering your plans to the Lord. Ask Him to align your desires with His will, for His will is perfect, pleasing, and good (Romans 12:2). Walk in obedience, and trust that He is with you every step of the way.
