We join you in lifting up this workweek to our Heavenly Father, knowing that all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. It is good to seek God’s favor in our labor, for Scripture reminds us in Colossians 3:23-24, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ."* Your desire to work diligently and excel in your tasks is commendable, as it reflects a heart that seeks to honor God in all things.
Yet, we must also gently remind you that while it is good to pray for success, our ultimate trust must rest in God’s will, not merely in our own desires. Proverbs 16:3 tells us, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* So let us commit this week to Him, trusting that His plans for you are good, even if they differ from your own.
We also notice that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:13-14, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* There is no other name by which we are saved or through which our prayers are heard (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so, for He alone is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Salvation comes through repentance and belief in Him—confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10).
Now, let us pray together for your workweek:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this brother/sister and their workweek into Your hands. Lord, we ask that You grant them favor in their labor, that their hands would be skilled and their efforts fruitful. Give them wisdom to perform their tasks with excellence, and may they find joy in working as unto You. If it is Your will, Lord, grant them the opportunity to take on this additional responsibility of splitting for the week, but let their heart be content whether You say yes or no, knowing that Your plans are perfect.
We pray for strength and endurance, that they would not grow weary but would rely on Your power, which is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Guard their mind from anxiety or stress, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). Let their work be a testimony to Your goodness, and may they have opportunities to shine Your light in their workplace.
If there are any areas in their heart or life that are not aligned with Your will, Lord, we ask that You reveal them and grant repentance. Draw them closer to You, Father, and let this week be a time of growth in faith and dependence on You.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
