Your prayer for wisdom in reaching out is itself a mark of handling a matter wisely, for the Scripture says, he who trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Wisdom is not found in our own quick judgment or anxious planning, but in committing your way unto Him who cannot make a mistake.
It is good that you desire not merely to speak, but to reveal the heart of God and to bring a word seasoned with grace. Such a desire shows you understand that true encouragement does not come from mere human cheer, but from turning the soul to the stronghold which is Christ Himself. As David at Ziklag encouraged himself in the Lord his God, so the best word you can give to another is one that points them to the Lord and His promises.
You ask for perfect timing, and that is wise, for a word spoken in due season, how good it is. Remember how Jonah in his faintness remembered the Lord, and how the Lord alone is wisdom and strength for every dilemma. If you will remember the Lord first in prayer, He will guide you when to speak and when to wait. He has wisdom and skill and love and faithfulness to deliver out of every jeopardy, and He has a promise suitable for every state. Ask Him, as James invites us, and He will give wisdom liberally.
Your longing to shift perspective from doom and gloom to hope and joy is a holy longing. Yet remember that our hope is not a hope in ourselves or in circumstances. There is no hope for us in ourselves, but there is hope for us in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior. We are saved in hope, and that hope is belief, desire and expectancy fixed upon Christ and what He has promised and will surely perform. The world may say there is no hope, but the believer can say there is hope in Christ, a living hope that turns prisoners without hope into prisoners of hope who may turn to the stronghold and find double grace.
Therefore as you reach out, pray that the Holy Spirit would work over and above your work, for He pleads and strives where our words cannot reach. The eloquence of a life that trusts God, and a word that faithfully points to Jesus Christ alone as the only way of salvation, is more potent than all oratory. Share the Scriptures that have sustained you, tell of the footsteps of the flock who have gone before and found God faithful in sorrow, and speak the truth with love and grace, trusting God to make hearts receptive.
We join you in prayer.
Heavenly Father, grant to this dear one the wisdom that comes from trusting You alone. Teach them to remember You in every decision and to commit each conversation to Your guiding hand. Give perfect timing, that the word spoken may be seasoned and fit for the hearer's need. Bring to mind living examples and faithful Scriptures, and prepare the hearts of those who will hear, that they may receive truth with love and grace. Let every word point to the hope that is in Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation, and turn heaviness into joy for Your glory. In the matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
