We join you in thanking our Father for this wonderful prayer from the Apostle Paul and we agree with you for this deeper revelation of who He is.
We love how Paul prays not for more earthly things but for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, as it is written Eph 1:17-20 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places. This is the heart of the gospel, that we would know God intimately and not just know about Him.
Scripture tells us this knowing is eternal life itself, John 17:3 This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. And Jer 9:24 let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for I delight in these things, says Yahweh. We are so encouraged that you desire this, for God delights to reveal Himself to those who seek Him with their whole heart, and that He has already given us everything we need to know Him through Christ and His Word.
We also rejoice that you prayed this in the name of Jesus the Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is that same power that raised Christ from the dead that is now at work in us who believe, Phil 3:10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection.
We pray together with you,
Father, we thank You for Your great love and for the hope of Your calling upon our lives. We ask You to give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know You better. Flood the eyes of our hearts with light, that we may truly comprehend the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe. Help us to walk worthy of that calling and to live in the reality of the resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, not only in this age but also in that which is to come, Eph 1:21. Draw us into deeper intimacy with You, teach us to abide in Christ daily through Your Word and prayer, and transform us to reflect Your glory. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
