Warfare

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I posted this yesterday: "I have been targeted for years by spiritual warfare that has been harassing me for leaving the new age and coming back to Christ. This warfare often influences people to be harmful toward me for no reason. Today, two people in my life (and possibly more people than that) were randomly behaving weird toward me out of nowhere and I'm pretty sure it was due to this warfare. I'm really tired of having to deal with this kind of behavior where people turn on me for no reason especially when I'm trying to be as kind and loving to them as I can. I really don't want to interact with any of the people who were used today by this warfare for the unforeseeable future. Please pray for me about all this." I just want to add context that one of the people who I believe was being affected by this warfare is my boyfriend. He was behaving differently than normal and I have strong reason to believe it was because he was being influenced by this warfare. Since this warfare started, I always said I didn't want to ever be involved with someone romantically who could be affected by it. I wanted at least one relationship in my life that was safe from it. This warfare is difficult and painful enough but to have someone I'm romantically involved with behaving negatively toward me due to it is even more hurtful. Now, it's the next morning and I haven't heard from my boyfriend yet. Usually, he will text me in the morning especially before work but I notice that when this warfare seemingly uses him, I don't hear from him for so long throughout a day and other hurtful things happen as well. I really wonder sometimes whether my boyfriend and I will end up together at the end of it all. I don't know for certain that it's God's will for him to be with me. Things like this just make me question the relationship more. Please pray. Thank you.

We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we stand with you in the authority of Jesus’ name against the spiritual warfare that has relentlessly targeted you since your return to Him. The enemy seeks to isolate, discourage, and wound you through the very people you love, and we recognize the deep pain this causes. You are not alone in this battle, we take up the full armor of God with you, as Ephesians 6:12 reminds us: "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."

First, we must address the matter of your relationship with your boyfriend. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). However, the relationship you describe does not align with God’s design for courtship leading to marriage. The term "boyfriend" implies a romantic involvement outside of the commitment of marriage, and the instability caused by spiritual warfare in this relationship is a red flag. We must ask: Is this relationship honoring to God? Is it built on a foundation of mutual faith in Christ, or is it vulnerable to the enemy’s schemes because it lacks the protection of a godly covenant?

1 Corinthians 7:39 states, "A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she desires, only in the Lord." This principle applies to both men and women, marriage is to be "only in the Lord." If your boyfriend is not firmly rooted in Christ, or if he is easily influenced by spiritual warfare, this relationship may not be the safe haven you long for. We must rebuke the lie that this relationship is your only source of love or security. Your identity and worth are found in Christ alone, not in the affections of another person.

We also must address the sin of fornication. Scripture is unequivocal: sexual intimacy outside of marriage is a violation of God’s commands (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). If this relationship involves physical intimacy, it is grieving the Holy Spirit and opening doors to further spiritual attack. We urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, trusting Him to cleanse and restore you. Confess this sin before the Lord, and ask Him to give you the strength to honor Him with your body, as you are a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Now, let us pray for you with the authority of Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, the One through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. We lift up our sister who is enduring relentless spiritual warfare, and we declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, we rebuke the enemy’s schemes to use people in her life to wound her. We break every assignment of the enemy over her relationships, her mind, and her heart. We command every spirit of division, confusion, and strife to flee in Jesus’ name!

Father, we ask You to surround her with Your angels, as You promised in Psalm 91:11-12: "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone." Protect her from the fiery darts of the enemy, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we pray for wisdom and discernment regarding her relationship with her boyfriend. If this relationship is not Your will, give her the courage to walk away, trusting that You have something far better for her. If it is Your will for them to be together, we pray that You would draw him to repentance and a deeper relationship with You. Convict his heart of any sin, including the sin of fornication, and lead him to walk in holiness. Surround him with godly men who can disciple him and hold him accountable. Father, we ask that You would heal any wounds in their relationship caused by the enemy’s influence, and restore trust and love that honors You.

We declare that our sister is not a victim, she is a victor in Christ! We speak life over her, declaring that she is more than a conqueror through Him who loved her (Romans 8:37). Strengthen her faith, Lord, and remind her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Fill her with Your joy, which is her strength (Nehemiah 8:10), and let her hope in You be renewed.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would bring godly, Christ-centered relationships into her life, friendships and, if it is Your will, a future spouse who loves You above all else. Prepare her heart for the husband You have for her, a man who will lead her in righteousness, cherish her as Christ cherishes the Church, and stand with her against the enemy’s attacks. Until that day, let her find her completeness in You alone.

We pray all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the One who has already defeated the enemy at the cross. Amen.

Sister, we encourage you to stand firm in your faith. The enemy wants you to feel isolated and defeated, but God has not abandoned you. Here are some practical steps to take as you navigate this season:

1. Put on the Full Armor of God Daily: Ephesians 6:13-18 outlines the spiritual armor we must wear, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. Begin each day by putting on this armor in prayer, declaring your protection in Christ.

2. Flee Sexual Immorality: If this relationship involves sexual sin, repent and end that aspect of it immediately. God’s grace is sufficient to help you walk in purity. Seek accountability from a trusted, godly sister in Christ who can pray with you and encourage you in this area.

3. Seek God’s Will for the Relationship: Spend time in prayer and fasting, asking God to reveal His will for this relationship. If it is not His will, trust Him to close the door and provide healing. If it is His will, pray for His restoration and for your boyfriend to grow in his faith.

4. Guard Your Heart: Proverbs 4:23 warns, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." Be cautious about investing emotionally in a relationship that is unstable or not rooted in Christ. Your heart is precious to God, and He wants to protect it.

5. Surround Yourself with Godly Community: The enemy thrives in isolation. Seek out a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith, find support, and build godly friendships. Let others stand with you in prayer and encouragement.

6. Renew Your Mind with Scripture: The enemy will try to fill your mind with lies, lies about your worth, your future, and God’s love for you. Combat these lies with the truth of God’s Word. Meditate on verses like Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:28, and Psalm 37:4-5.

7. Forgive Those Who Have Hurt You: Even when people are influenced by the enemy, their actions can wound us deeply. Choose to forgive them, not because they deserve it, but because Christ forgave you (Colossians 3:13). Forgiveness is a powerful weapon against the enemy’s schemes.

Remember, the battle you are facing is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces. You are not fighting for victory, you are fighting from victory. Jesus has already won the war, and He has given you authority over the enemy (Luke 10:19). Stand firm, sister, and trust that God is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). You are deeply loved, and your future is secure in Him.

We hear how wearying this has been for you, not just the spiritual opposition itself, but the loneliness of watching it touch someone you care about. When you've been fighting to stand firm after leaving the new age, it makes complete sense that you would long for at least one relationship that feels steady and safe. Having the person closest to you suddenly feel distant or act out of character cuts deep, and we're sorry you're walking through that this morning.

Often when we're in the thick of spiritual battle, we can start looking for a dramatic deliverance or a clear sign that will settle everything at once. But spiritual growth and freedom usually come the way a child learns to walk, one ordinary, wobbly step after another, not in a single event. The enemy loves to keep us fixated on what feels chaotic so we lose sight of the quiet, daily work God is doing. Right now, the most grounded thing may be to step back from trying to decode every interaction as warfare and instead simply watch and pray. Pay attention to your boyfriend's consistent character and patterns over time, not just these painful episodes. That's where you'll see whether this relationship is something healthy and lasting.

In the meantime, you don't have to sort everything out today. Give yourself permission to let the silence sit without rushing to fill it with conclusions. Ask God for clarity about what is truly from him, and trust that he is not threatened by your honest questions. We're praying with you.

Lord Jesus, you see the exhaustion our sister carries and the hurt she feels when those close to her seem caught up in the battle against her. Guard her heart and give her wisdom. Where this relationship is not your will, give her the courage to see that clearly and the strength to walk away. Where there is something true and right, protect it and bring healing. Calm her spirit this morning with the steady assurance that you hold her future, and silence the voices of fear and confusion that only add to her weariness. We ask this in your strong name. Amen.

The flesh profits nothing. It is only the spirit, the spiritual receiving of Christ, that can be of any use whatever. You are learning this in the crucible of conflict, and though the lesson is bitter to the taste, it is sweeter than the honeycomb in its outcome, for it drives you to the one safe stronghold. Man, by nature, since the fall, is dead, and the natural man cannot perceive the things of God. Do not marvel, therefore, when those still in the grip of spiritual death, or those who walk as mere professors with no root, are swayed by every wind of dark influence. Their conduct is a revelation of their inward state. When a man is not quickened by the Spirit of God, his course will be unsteady, and his affections, however tender they may seem, will fail you in the hour of trial.

The great work of God in you must be a spiritual thing. You have been called out of darkness, and in that calling you have become a new creature. The promise is not that the thorn shall be trimmed and pruned into presentable shape; the promise is a thorough restoration and strengthening of the entire spiritual constitution. Stand upon that. If your well-being depends upon the steadiness of any mortal, you build upon the sand. Many live far below their spiritual income; they have an infinite income of grace, an income of promises, yet they look to men for what only God can supply. Your safety is not in a relationship where warfare cannot reach, for no such earthly sanctuary exists. Your safety is in getting near to Christ, and staying near to Him. He who lays hold of Christ has grasped very God of very God.

As for this young man, I bid you look with clear, unflinching eyes. Spiritual trading without capital is common, and puffery and deception are every-day practices. There may be a fair show for a while, and then in the end a crash. Do not mistake natural fondness for spiritual life. The doctrine is plain: that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and it profits nothing. If he is not born again, regenerated by the Spirit of God and wholly made a new creature in Christ, he remains a natural man, subject to spiritual slumber and illegitimate ease. And if he is a true believer, yet living at a distance from his Lord, he is easy prey for the enemy, and you will find only a well-nigh famished soul with nothing to give. You have already seen that when this darkness encroaches, his affections grow cold and his words fail. Lay this before the throne. Do not wonder whether it is God’s will for you to be with him; rather ask first whether he is a spiritual man, for only in that union can there be a yoking that is not unequal and a foundation that endures the storm.

When sin is put away, God has no cause of warfare against His creature. Christ has put our sins away, and therefore substantial peace is established between God and our souls. Let this be your resting place. Do not let the ill behavior of others, however wounding, steal your peace. You are weary, and the hurt cuts deep. Yet the real gleaner, the one who gets any spiritual food, will have to stoop to pick it up. Stoop low in this painful field. Glean here a sheaf of election, there an ear of covenant faithfulness. Do not let a good thought drop as soon as another comes. Hold fast the truth that God, by His grace, is able to work moral and spiritual transformations, and He is working one in you even now, turning this present chaos into a new heaven and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness. Your expectation is from Him alone. Therefore, step back from the striving and the speculation, and let your soul draw near to Christ. In Him is life, and that life is the only light safe enough to steer by when all other lights go out.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You are in a good warfare, the contest of faith, but do not think it strange that fiery trials beset you. The enemy, having lost you, now rages, and he strikes through companions, even those dear to you. Remember, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual hosts of wickedness. When people act as instruments of conflict, do not let your heart be troubled; our Commander stands ready to help, and without Him we can bear nothing.

You say you wished for a relationship safe from this battle. But no earthly bond can be a fortress unbreached by the enemy. Seek your safety in Christ alone, and let every human affection be secondary. If you anchor your peace in a man, you will be tossed about. Examine whether this yoke draws you nearer to God or entangles you in worldly cares. True love is found in the household of faith, where many become one soul, not easily divided by the adversary’s schemes.

Do not seek ease now; this is the season of combat, the narrow way that leads to life. Endure hardship as a good soldier, repenting of every stain, and committing your future into the hands of the One who knows your path. Pray without ceasing, and find your company among those who share your warfare, that you may stand firm and not be shaken.

The ache you feel when someone close to you suddenly turns distant or hurtful cuts deep, especially when you see it as another layer of the spiritual battle you have faced since turning wholeheartedly to Christ. That weariness is real. The enemy would like nothing more than to use these pains to isolate you, to make you question God’s goodness, and to wear down your resolve.

What must remain fixed in your mind is that lasting fruit in your life is not produced by trying to manage people or decipher their every mood. It comes from your own living relationship with Jesus Christ. When that relationship is the one you are most conscious of, when you are walking in His love, receiving His grace, and letting His Word shape your heart, He becomes the steady anchor even when others waver. The covenant God has made with you is not like a fragile human agreement. He has written His law on your heart, given you His Spirit, and promised to complete the work He began. That work cannot and will not fail.

In the turmoil, you are wondering what God’s will is concerning this man and your future together. I understand the longing for just one relationship that feels safe from the warfare. But seeking God’s will often gets tangled when we try to read it through the shifting signals of another person’s behavior. God’s will is first that you be His in a trusting, obedient love. He does not want a mere legal arrangement where you do your part and then He must do His. He wants a loving intimacy where you consent for Him to do what He desires in and through you. Prayer becomes that consent, not a list of demands, but a yielding. You can honestly pour out your hurt and your confusion, then lay the outcome with Him. He will not violate your boyfriend’s choice, nor yours. But He can guard your heart and give you clarity.

The enemy is a liar. He will press the notion that sin and brokenness really don’t matter, that God’s patience means nothing will change, and that you can somehow manage the hurt by pulling back or grasping tighter. But changed hearts come from the inside out. You cannot change your boyfriend’s heart by altering what you do, and you cannot manufacture lasting security for yourself. Only the Spirit can bring about a true sorrow that turns away from sin entirely and produces a deep shift. So do not exhaust yourself trying to control what only God can do.

At the same time, remember the foundation of forgiveness. You have been loved immeasurably. Walk in that love, not by pretending the hurt didn’t happen, but by releasing the bitterness that would poison your own soul. This does not mean you must ignore wisdom or place yourself in a pattern of harm, but it does mean your heart can stay free before God.

I long with you for that day when every tease of the enemy is silenced, when all relationships are pure and no one turns on another without cause. That hope is not wishful thinking; it is a fixed reality toward which we are moving. In the meantime, you are sustained by the promise, not by the perfection of your circumstances. Let that hope steady you. Invest your deepest energy in the relationship that cannot be shaken: your own yieldedness to Jesus Christ. When your heart is right there, your perspective on every earthly tie is gradually purified. What is truly His will for you will then become less a frantic question and more a quiet, settled knowing as you keep walking with Him.
