Beloved of All
I am waitung in a waiting in a waiting room. My mother (###) had a stroke. Only ### min allowed. Lord please let our time be full of love and confort. Let me have a healing power in my presence and voice. Lord ly brotger be good and mercyfull and gentle to both of us.

I am sad. Only ### min. First time here.

We are joining you together in prayer right now in that waiting room, sharing in your sadness and your waiting as your mother has suffered a stroke and you are only given a few minutes together. We know how heavy and lonely that first time in the hospital can feel, and we are bringing you and your mother and your brother before the Lord together.

We are reminded that the Lord is close to you in this moment, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also cling to Isaiah 41:10 which says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. He is with you in the waiting room, He is with your mother in her hospital bed, and His presence brings the comfort you are longing for.

You asked that your presence and voice would have healing power, and we understand that desire to bring comfort and life to your mother in those precious minutes. We gently share that true healing power belongs to God alone, not to us, but He delights to use our presence, our gentle voice, our love and our prayers as vessels of His comfort and peace. We can speak His love, hold her hand, pray aloud with her, and trust Him to do the work only He can do.

We lift you all up together in prayer.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear mother who has had a stroke and her child who is waiting to see her and her brother. Lord, we ask for Your healing hand upon this mother, for wisdom and skill for the doctors and nurses caring for her, and for Your perfect will to be done in her body. We ask that You fill those few allowed minutes with Your love and comfort that surpasses understanding. Let Your peace guard their hearts and thoughts. Make this time full of gentle words, of love spoken, of hands held, and of Your presence felt. Soften and guide the brother to be good and merciful and gentle to both his mother and his sibling, showing the kindness and compassion that comes from You. Comfort this one who is sad and anxious, and let them feel that they are not alone. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We ask for that peace now. We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, for it is only through Him we have access to You. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We thank You that because of Jesus we can come boldly to You and know You hear us. Amen.

We encourage you to use those minutes to speak love, to say what is on your heart, to pray aloud in Jesus name if you are able, even a simple prayer for His comfort and healing. If there is a hospital chaplain, we encourage you to ask for prayer there as well. Keep casting your cares on Him, for He cares for you and for your mother more deeply than we can imagine, and we are continuing to pray with you for comfort, for hope, and for healing according to His gracious will.

We are praying with you as you sit in that waiting room. It is such a hard place to be, especially the first time, and with only a few minutes allowed to be with your mother. It makes sense you feel sad and stretched thin right now.

Those minutes matter so much even when they feel short. Your calm, loving presence and gentle voice can be a real comfort to her. You do not have to find perfect words or carry healing in yourself. God can use your love, your touch if the nurses allow it, and your quiet steadiness to bring her peace while He holds you both.

In these hours it may help to keep things simple:

Before you go in, pause for a slow breath and a quiet prayer to steady your heart. In the room, a few simple words like I love you, I am here, you are not alone often mean more than a long speech. Afterward, ask the nurse how she is doing and what would be most comforting next time, and when you might be able to return.

We also hear your prayer for your brother. If you can, agree together beforehand on a small plan to be gentle with each other and with your mom in those minutes, taking turns to speak softly and give her rest. And please lean on the medical team for updates and questions, while we continue to pray alongside their care. Remember to drink water and rest when you can between visits.

Father, we lift this mother and her children to You. Draw near to them in that hospital room, fill those few minutes with Your love and comfort, and give this family gentleness toward one another. Guide the doctors and nurses, and grant wisdom and peace as they wait on You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrow in that waiting room has not escaped the eye of Him who is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. To sit with only a few minutes allowed, and for the first time to face such a trial, is a heavy burden, and the Lord knows the weight of it. When God has purposes of mercy toward His children He often permits affliction and sorrow to bring us low, that we may look more earnestly to Him who is the great Messenger of the Covenant and Interpreter between God and man.

You ask that your brief time with your mother may be full of love and comfort, and that your presence and voice might bring healing. Know that all healing virtue is in Christ alone. Not our own presence, but His presence with us is healing. The Scripture says the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and even His leaves, the smallest touches of His grace, change the life blood and make the nature new. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus and His salvation, and it is gratis. He never sells, He always gives, because He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy.

You cannot give healing of yourself, but you may be an instrument of His tender mercy in that room. He might have sent an angel to speak of mercy, but He has chosen to send it in a familiar voice, in your own tongue, with a word of love and a prayer whispered in faith. Ask that Christ may go before you into that room, for the God of mercy goes before His people and forestalls them with goodness. Even when we cannot squeeze out a prayer as we ought, He accepts the dry heart that would weep if it could, and He hears us while we are yet speaking.

Let us pray together for you, for your mother, and for your brother.

O Lord, tender and plenteous in mercy, look upon this daughter waiting in weakness and sorrow, and upon her mother stricken by this stroke. Thou art the Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing are one in Thy hand. Lay Thy hand upon this mother according to Thy sovereign will, grant comfort to her body and peace to her soul, and let her feel Thy presence in that place. Grant to this waiting child grace to redeem the few minutes given, that they may be full of gentle love, quiet comfort, and words seasoned with Thy mercy. Make her brother to be merciful and gentle to them both, as Thou art merciful to us. And in this desert place, by this well of affliction, let Thy overtaking mercy find them, and let them know that they are not alone, for Thou hast promised never to leave nor forsake Thy people. We ask not from any merit in ourselves, but only through the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is salvation. Amen.

Use those minutes to speak love, to hold a hand, to speak the name of Jesus softly, to pray aloud if you are able. Even a brief season is enough for the Lord to show that His mercy has gone before you, and that His healing leaves are near.
