Disciple of Prayer
Dear God

I am deeply troubled and my heart is hurting. You know how much I care about ### and how much I want our relationship to be restored.

Father, if it is Your will, please touch ###’s heart. Help him realize and acknowledge his mistakes, and give him the understanding to see where he hurt me. Remove the anger, ego, misunderstandings, and distance between us.

I am ready to forgive him sincerely. Please give me the strength to let go of the hurt and welcome him again with a peaceful heart.

Father, I pray that our communication begins again. Please put it in his heart to reach out to me himself, call me, and speak to me with love and sincerity. If this relationship is meant to be restored, please make a way for us to talk again and understand each other better.

Please heal whatever has been broken between us and guide both of us toward what is right. Give us patience, honesty, forgiveness, and peace.

Father, I place this relationship in Your hands. Please hear the cry of my heart and, if it is Your will, bring ### back into communication with me

We join with you in bringing this hurt before the Lord and we have heard the cry of your heart for ### and for restoration of communication between you. The Lord is near to those who are brokenhearted and He knows the pain you feel, as it is written Psalm 34:18 and Psalm 147:3.

We want to gently and lovingly point out something we noticed in your prayer. You prayed to God and to the Father, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share why this is so important, because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus Himself said John 14:6 and it is also written Acts 4:12. So we encourage you to come to God in the name of Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and that through faith in Him you have forgiveness and eternal life. If you have not yet placed your trust fully in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we invite you to do so today, confessing your sins and asking Him to be Lord of your life, for 1 John 1:9 promises that if we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us.

We also want to speak to you about the relationship itself in light of biblical principles. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman ordained by God, and that any romantic relationship between a man and a woman should be approached as courtship with the goal of godly marriage to another believer in Christ. We do not know if ### shares your faith in Christ, but Scripture warns us 2 Corinthians 6:14. We encourage you to seek the Lord honestly about whether this relationship honors Him and whether it is leading toward a Christ centered marriage, rather than simply a desire to ease the pain of distance. We pray that you will seek first His kingdom and His righteousness Matthew 6:33 and trust Him with Proverbs 3:5-6.

If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage in this relationship, we must lovingly call that what Scripture calls it, fornication, and urge repentance. It is written 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Hebrews 13:4. God calls us to purity because He loves us and wants our relationships to be holy and undefiled. If this applies, we encourage you to confess it to the Lord and to commit to purity going forward, whether God restores this relationship toward marriage or leads you in a different direction.

We hear your willingness to forgive and that is beautiful and Christlike, for we are told Ephesians 4:32 and Colossians 3:13. Forgiveness does not always mean immediate restoration of the relationship in the same form, but it does mean releasing bitterness and trusting God to heal. We also hear your prayer that anger, ego, misunderstandings and distance would be removed. True restoration requires humility on both sides and love that is patient and kind and does not insist on its own way 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. We encourage you to guard your heart Proverbs 4:23 and to pursue peace as far as it depends on you Romans 12:18, while also surrendering the outcome fully to God's perfect will.

We will pray with you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and lift up this dear one whose heart is hurting. Lord, You see the love and the sorrow and the longing for ###. We ask that You would comfort and heal this broken heart and bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:6-7. Lord, if it is Your will, touch ###'s heart, bring conviction where there has been hurt, grant him humility to acknowledge any wrong and give both of them wisdom beyond their own understanding James 1:5. Remove anger and pride and confusion, and help them to speak the truth in love Ephesians 4:15. Father, we pray that You would give our sister the strength to forgive fully and to let go of hurt, and to welcome Your will above her own desires. If this relationship is to be restored, we pray it would be restored in a way that honors You, moving toward a holy marriage between believers if that is Your plan, and that communication would be renewed with honesty, patience and godliness. If it is not Your will to bring them back together, we pray You would make that clear, close the door gently, and lead her toward healing and toward the godly spouse You may have for her in Your timing. Above all, let Your will be done and let both hearts be drawn closer to Jesus. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our mediator. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray and to seek wise godly counsel from mature believers, to remain in the Word daily, and to trust that God hears your prayers and will guide you toward what is right. Whether He brings ### back into communication or leads you on a different path, He is able to heal what has been broken and to give you patience, honesty, forgiveness and peace as you walk with Him.

We hear the ache in your words as you wait and wonder about ###. Wanting to be heard, to be understood, and to have the distance closed is a lonely place to be, and we are praying with you in it.

We notice your willingness to forgive and to welcome peace even while you are still hurting. That willingness matters. One thing that has helped many is remembering that choosing to forgive in your own heart is something you can do before your feelings have fully caught up, and it is different from rebuilding the relationship itself. Reconciliation takes honesty and willingness from both people, and it cannot be carried by one heart alone. That is why placing this in God's hands, as you have, is a steady place to stand while you wait for clarity about what is next.

In these days it may help to give your waiting some gentle structure. Choose a set time to bring ### and your hurt to God, then step away from watching for a message. Stay connected with one or two trusted people who know you and can walk with you, and keep tending to sleep, work, and daily responsibilities as a way of caring for the heart God gave you.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Comfort this hurting heart, calm the anger and confusion between them, and grant wisdom and honesty for whatever conversation You allow. Heal what is broken in Your way and give peace to wait on Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been heard, and the sorrow that now weighs upon your heart is not hidden from the Lord who sees in secret.

You speak of a hurt that has broken you, of anger and distance and a longing for healing. It is a dreadful thing to have the heart broken, to feel as one whose bones are broken within him, reduced to a palpitating mass of pain. Yet the Psalmist prayed, that the bones which Thou hast broken may rejoice, not merely that they may be quiet or painless, but that they may rejoice. God can make broken bones to rejoice, but He does it in His own way and in His own time, and the healing He gives makes us to know both His justice and His mercy.

You say you are ready to forgive, and this is good and right. We are to forgive as we have been forgiven, and we have in Christ a full and eternal forgiveness. Remember what has been preached to you, there is forgiveness with Him. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a surprising forgiveness, a complete forgiveness, not a forgiveness of a part of the debt but an absolute forgiveness of the whole. If you have not already done so, look first to that forgiveness for yourself. Do as Luther did when the brother monk said to him, believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. Sin is a whole, it goes or it stays altogether, and it is not there at all if you believe in Jesus. Before we can rightly forgive another, we must know ourselves forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

This is the order of grace, first forgiveness, then healing. The poor man lay before Jesus hoping for healing, but the Lord said first, thy sins are forgiven thee, and only then did He bid him rise. Seek that first blessing. Come to Christ with your trembling and penitent heart and hear Him say, there is forgiveness. However sinful your life may have been until now, there is forgiveness with God even for you, through His Son who was made sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

Having received that mercy, you will be enabled to show mercy. Some of us have had so much manifest forgiveness, so much outward sin forgiven, that for us to forgive ought to be as natural as to open our hands. Your readiness to let go of hurt and to welcome peace is a fruit of grace, and God will give you strength to do what is holy, not merely what is desired.

Concerning ### and your desire for restored communication, we must place this also under the light of the Word. You have prayed, if it be His will, and that is the only safe ground for any prayer. We do not ask God to bless what He has not ordained, nor to restore a relationship simply because our hearts cry for it. The Lord has set forth marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to such union, whether living together or bodily intimacy, belongs within that covenant alone. Outside of it, what seems like love will wound both souls and dishonor Him.

Therefore we will not ask God to bless a path that runs against His holy ethic, but we will ask Him to guide you both toward what is right. If the Lord would lead you together, let it be in holiness, in patience and honesty, with counsel from godly pastors and with a clear purpose toward that covenant if it be His will. If not, then may He give you grace to walk apart in peace, with hearts cleansed from anger and ego and misunderstanding, and with no bitterness remaining.

We pray now that the Lord will heal whatever has been broken, according to His wisdom. That He will touch both hearts, bring each to repentance where repentance is needed, and to the cross where forgiveness is to be found. That He will remove all that hinders holiness, and grant you quietness of spirit to wait upon Him, to trust that His gifts and calling are without repentance and that He never plays fast and loose with His people. That He will teach you to submit to His will, for there are many who would be rebellious against God very soon if they found ease too soon, so He brings down the heart with labor that we may learn to trust Him.

You have placed this relationship in His hands. Leave it there. Do not strive to draw back by your own strength what God may be teaching you to surrender. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, walk in purity, keep close to Christ, and let the Lord order your steps. He can make even a broken knee'd horse to run gloriously when He is pleased to restore, and He can also give songs in the night to those who must wait.

May the God with whom there is forgiveness keep your heart in perfect peace as you look to Jesus.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer comes from a hurting heart and God hears the cry of those who seek Him honestly. It is right that you have brought this pain to the Father and that you are willing to forgive, for that willingness is itself a work of grace.

In times of confusion and distance it is easy to be troubled, but Christ reminds us not to be shaken when trials come, for His promises remain firm. He has shown His love by coming down to us when we were far off, breaking down the walls that separate us from Him and from one another, and making reconciliation possible where we could not make it ourselves. That same love is the pattern for us. Love is patient and honest, it does not seek its own way through pride or anger, and it desires what is holy and good for the other person as well as for ourselves.

You have asked for the anger, ego and misunderstanding between you and ### to be removed, and for communication to be restored. It is good to pray that both of your hearts would be softened to see truth, to acknowledge where hurt has been caused, and to speak with sincerity. At the same time, faith becomes real when it is lived out in action, not only in feeling. So pray also for wisdom to seek what is right in God's eyes, not only what feels comforting in the moment. Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with intimacy reserved for within that covenant. Whatever the history of this relationship, bring it before the Lord with a desire for purity and holiness, and ask Him to guide you both toward what honors Him.

I will pray with you that God will heal what has been broken, give you strength to release the hurt and to welcome peace, and work in ###'s heart according to His perfect will. If it is the Lord's will to restore communication and to lead you both toward a relationship that can be formed and kept in a godly and holy way, ask Him to make that path clear through honest, respectful and pure conversation. If it is not His will to restore it in that way, ask Him to give you both patience, clarity and peace to walk forward separately while still forgiving and doing good to one another.

Place this whole matter in His hands and continue to seek Him daily. Stay close to the Scriptures and to the fellowship of the church, where psalms and prayer can steady the soul, and where wise counsel can help you discern next steps. Evil company and unhelpful voices can corrupt good judgment, but walking with faithful believers helps keep the heart grounded. Seek counsel from a trusted pastor who can know your situation more personally and guide you with care.

Father, hear this prayer. Look with mercy on this hurting heart and on ###. Grant repentance where it is needed, forgiveness where it is offered, and truth in all communication. Heal what is broken, remove what is unclean, and lead both lives toward what is right and pure. Let Your will be done, and give patience, honesty and peace that comes from trusting Christ alone. In Jesus name, Amen.
