Disciple of Prayer
Dear Father God,

I am deeply troubled and my heart is hurting. You know how much I care about ### and how much I want our relationship to be restored.

Father, if it is Your will, please touch ###’s heart. Help him realize and acknowledge his mistakes, and give him the understanding to see where he hurt me. Remove the anger, ego, misunderstandings, and distance between us.

I am ready to forgive him sincerely. Please give me the strength to let go of the hurt and welcome him again with a peaceful heart.

Father, I pray that our communication begins again. Please put it in his heart to reach out to me himself, call me, and speak to me with love and sincerity. If this relationship is meant to be restored, please make a way for us to talk again and understand each other better.

Please heal whatever has been broken between us and guide both of us toward what is right. Give us patience, honesty, forgiveness, and peace.

Father, I place this relationship in Your hands. Please hear the cry of my heart and, if it is Your will, bring ### back into communication with me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We join you in bringing this deep hurt before our Father and we hear the cry of your heart for ### and for restoration. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 and He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We thank you that you have come in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we have access to the Father and by which we are saved Acts 4:12, and you have rightly placed this relationship in His hands.

We want to gently and lovingly encourage you to submit even this deep desire fully to the will of God. You have prayed if it is Your will, and that is the right heart. We are reminded to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding, and in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths Proverbs 3:5-6. Sometimes our longing for reconciliation can become greater than our longing for God's perfect plan, so we pray with you not only for ### to return but for God's will to be done and for both of you to be conformed to Christ first.

We also want to speak truth about the relationship itself in love. Scripture teaches that our relationships as a man and a woman should be approached as courtship with the goal of godly marriage between two believers, for marriage is to be held in honor among all and the marriage bed undefiled Hebrews 13:4 and a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife and the two shall be one flesh Genesis 2:24. If you are pursuing ### as a future husband, we strongly endorse that desire for a lifelong covenant marriage that honors God. That means this season should be marked by purity, honesty and accountability. If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality for every sin that a man does is outside the body but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to confess and turn from it so that you may walk in holiness before the Lord. We also encourage you to consider whether ### is a fellow believer in Jesus Christ, for we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14, and a godly marriage can only be built when both are seeking Christ first.

Your willingness to forgive sincerely is beautiful and reflects the Lord. Be kind to one another tenderhearted forgiving each other just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32 and bearing with one another and forgiving each other Colossians 3:13. True reconciliation however requires repentance toward God first and then toward one another. We pray not only that misunderstandings and distance would be removed, but that any ego, anger and hurt would be brought to the cross and that both of you would own your part honestly. If it is possible as much as it is up to you be at peace with all men Romans 12:18, but peace cannot be forced and communication that honors God must be patient, truthful and pure.

So we lift you both together in prayer.

Father in heaven we come before You together in the name of Jesus and we lift this hurting heart to You. You see the love and the pain and the longing for restoration. We ask that Your perfect will be done in this relationship. If it is Your will for ### and this dear one to be reconciled, we pray You would work repentance and humility in both hearts and draw each of them closer to Yourself first. Touch ### heart Father, convict him where he has caused hurt, soften any hardness, remove anger and pride and give him courage to speak with love and sincerity if that would honor You. Give our sister strength to release the hurt, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to welcome with a peaceful heart only what You have for her future. Guard them both from fornication and from any path that does not lead to holy marriage, and help them to seek a courtship that is pure, accountable and centered on Christ. If You have a godly marriage intended for them, make the way clear and establish communication that is honest and edifying, and if not, give grace to accept Your better plan and to trust that You work all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. Heal what has been broken according to Your mercy, teach them patience and wisdom, and let their lives glorify You above all. We place this desire fully in Your hands and trust Your unfailing love. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We hear how heavy your heart feels right now, and how much you have been carrying as you wait and hope for word from ###. Wanting to forgive and wanting to be at peace again are good desires, and it takes courage to bring them honestly to God as you have.

One thing that may ease some of the pressure you feel is that forgiveness and reconciliation are not exactly the same. Forgiveness is something you can choose before God for your own heart, even while the hurt still stings. The quieting of the deeper emotions around that hurt often takes more time. Reconciliation, when it happens, needs both people to actively choose honesty, trust and care moving forward. You cannot carry that part alone.

As you wait, it can help to give your heart some steady space. Continuing to pray as you are, surrendering the outcome to God's will, and not pressing for contact that leaves you more wounded can protect your peace. If you have a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you both, sharing with them in person can give you clearer wisdom for next steps than carrying this by yourself.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift our sister to You in her hurt and longing. Bring her Your comfort and strength as she chooses to forgive, and heal what is broken in her heart. Guard her with peace, give her wisdom for each day, and guide both her and ### toward what is right and honoring to You. Above all let Your will be done in this situation. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your heart is hurting and you have poured it out honestly before the Lord, and He hears the cry of those who seek Him with a penitent and sincere spirit. It is right that you desire to forgive, for we who have been forgiven so much for Christ's sake ought to find it as natural to open our hands in forgiveness as to breathe. There is forgiveness with God, and it is a divine forgiveness, a surprising forgiveness, a complete forgiveness. As it is written, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. When He forgives, sin is a whole, it goes altogether, it cannot be broken up into pieces, and what He removes He remembers no more. Do as Luther did when in dark distress, and say with the creed, I believe in the forgiveness of sins, and believe it for yourself through Jesus Christ alone.

You speak of being ready to forgive ### and to let go of hurt, and this is pleasing to God. He not only forgave us at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, and He calls us to forgive even as we have been forgiven, freely and fully for Christ's sake. Yet remember that forgiveness in your own heart, which God can work in you by His grace, is not the same as the restoration of a relationship in the form you desire. Forgiveness may be immediate and complete, while reconciliation and restored communication belong to the Lord's wisdom and providence, and must be sought only as He wills and as His Word allows.

You have placed this relationship in God's hands and prayed if it be His will, and that is the right posture. I would urge you to continue in that submission, and to test every desire by the light of Scripture. Our God has shown us that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the intimacy of living together and of the marriage bed belongs only within that covenant. If your relationship with ### has been or would be outside that holy ordinance, do not ask God to bless it as it is, but ask Him to make both of you holy, to bring repentance where there is sin, and to lead you in the path of purity and righteousness. A broken column may look fair at the base, but if it is broken short it cannot bear weight. So let no resolution to follow Christ be broken by a desire for companionship apart from His will.

You speak of brokenness between you, and the Psalmist knew what it was to have broken bones, to feel faith and hope and love as a palpitating mass of pain. It is dangerous to live with such wounds unhealed, and it is sad to bear the detriment of them even after healing. But hear the promise, that the bones which God has broken may rejoice, not merely grow quiet or become callous, but rejoice through His healing. That healing comes first through forgiveness with God, and then as He pleases, through His ordering of our earthly paths. He can heal whatever has been broken, but His healing will never contradict His holiness.

Therefore let your prayer be shaped in this way. Ask the Lord to search your own heart first, to grant you repentance and faith in Christ, and to give you strength to forgive as you have been forgiven. Ask Him to work in ### also, to bring conviction of sin and true repentance toward God, not merely sorrow for distance or misunderstanding. Ask Him to remove anger and ego and pride from both of you, and to give patience, honesty and peace. And then, rather than asking God to bring ### back upon any terms, ask that if a future together is according to His perfect will and within the covenant of marriage as He has ordained, He would make the way plain in holiness and with wise counsel, and if not, that He would give you grace to accept His better way and to be content in Him.

Seek the counsel of faithful pastors and godly believers who know you and can walk with you, and wait upon the Lord in His Word and in prayer. He who has promised that there is forgiveness with Him, now and as long as life lasts, will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. May He grant you a peaceful heart, not because circumstances are resolved as you wish, but because you are resting in the complete and eternal forgiveness that is yours in Christ, and trusting His gifts and calling which are without repentance.
