We join you in lifting this important interview before the Lord, asking for His divine favor and guidance. Your dependence on God is evident, and we believe He hears your cry. The Bible assures us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a promise that God will direct your steps as you seek Him.

We also affirm the truth of James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." You are right to ask for wisdom, God delights in granting it to those who seek Him. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, and He will bring to your remembrance the words and confidence you need (John 14:26).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You go before [] in this interview. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, and we ask that You align them with Your perfect will. Grant them wisdom, clarity, and peace as they answer each question. Let Your Holy Spirit fill them with confidence and grace, so that they may excel and reflect Your glory. Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we trust that You will open the right doors for them. May this opportunity be a testimony of Your faithfulness and provision. We ask for favor in the eyes of the interviewers and for Your perfect timing to prevail. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to rest in the truth that God is already at work on your behalf. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Even as you prepare, trust that God’s peace will guard your heart.

Remember, too, that God’s plans for you are for good and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Whether this job is part of His plan or another opportunity lies ahead, He is faithful to provide. Keep your focus on Him, and let His Word be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105).

Go into this interview with the assurance that you are not alone, God is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). May His name be glorified in all you do!

We’re standing with you as you head into this interview. Three hours is a long stretch, and it’s completely normal to feel the weight of needing to perform well, especially when you’ve already laid it before the Lord. Your prayer puts the right things first: dependence on God’s grace and wisdom, not just your own abilities. That doesn’t mean you stop preparing, rather, it means you prepare from a place of settled trust. Go back over the job description and your own experience, and practice articulating a few clear examples that show how you’d bring value. That simple rehearsal quiets the mind and helps you sound like yourself, not a manufactured version.

Remember that your worth isn’t wrapped up in this outcome. You are already fully known and fully loved by the One who gave you every skill and good impulse you’ll bring into that room. Whether this door opens or another does, that remains solid ground. It frees you to engage the interview with genuine curiosity and calm, instead of desperation.

We’re asking God to steady your heart, sharpen your thinking, and let the conversation unfold in a way that reflects your real strengths.

Lord Jesus, be very near to our friend today. Fill that interview room with Your peace. Grant a clear mind, unhurried words, and a calm, warm presence that puts everyone at ease. Guide the interviewer to see the person and the potential You have shaped. And whatever the answer turns out to be, anchor this soul in the unshakable hope that their future is secure in Your hands. You enter that interview room with the sense that your own strength is nothing, and that is the surest preparation for success. How our Lord outruns us! Your sense of need is not as swift of foot as His perception of your need. The very sigh that went up in your prayer was met by preventing grace already marching ahead of you into that room. Stand then upon this truth: when you are altogether out of joint, it is then that God comes in and shows what His wisdom and power can do.

A three-hour trial of your wits feels like a vast sea, and you tremble to see yourself so small a vessel. Yet place a grain of divine grace against a ton of worldly wisdom and see which scale flies upward with a crash. The powers we possess are absolutely insignificant compared with God’s. Do not measure the outcome by the hourglass or by your own faltering tongue; the Holy Spirit illuminates all the souls that look to Jesus. Go in looking unto Him, and that cramped interview room becomes a place where the dew of His grace settles upon you. He will give grace upon grace, and if your capacities feel too narrow to receive today, He will enlarge your desires till you receive from His fullness for every pointed question.

Some will tell you that a man’s career rises or falls by accidents and clever answers, but well I am persuaded that even the smallest outcome is part of the divine purpose. His wheels grind much more accurately than the wheels of your mental calculations, and He is in one mind. Nothing in that room will involve a digression from His plan for you. Let this truth cool your brain and calm your heart. You are free, absolutely free, to speak and to act, yet the divine purpose stands. Herein is wisdom, and it is unsearchable, so rest in it. By God’s grace, deliberately take the fretful matter of the result and put it upon the shelf. If it does not get right, that is now His business and not yours.

Let every word you speak in that room be a quiet speaking on God’s behalf. You need not preach a sermon on the spot, but let the integrity and calm reliance of your spirit testify of the goodness and guidance you have had from your Master. A man who has tasted that the Lord is gracious carries an influence into a room before he ever opens his mouth. Do not let the employer entertain hard thoughts of our Lord because His servant walks in wearing a mask of worldly anxiety. Be yourself, be natural as grace makes you natural, and such freshness will be your strength.

When every other door seems shut and the single post seems blocked by a thousand other candidates, remember that the door of God’s grace is always open. The harbor of infinite love and unfailing care cannot be closed by any devil in hell or any rival on earth. Whether you emerge as the best in the eyes of men or not, look for the special revealing of the Lord to your own soul. Before you can see Him as your provider in this, He must be your Lord and your God. Let the breathing of your contrite heart be, “My Lord and my God,” and you will find that relief is bound up with that intense pleasure. Go, then, quiet and composed, for in all this you shall not sin by unbelief, and the greatness of the trial will only increase the honor of the victory when grace covers you.

You pray for victory in your interview, asking God to lead you to emerge as the best. The desire is natural, yet pause and consider what true victory is. For often we seek a victory which the world applauds, but which in God’s sight is no victory at all. I have said before: he that overreaches or exalts himself may seem to conquer, but it is an evil victory bringing destruction. But he who is wronged and bears it with self-command, or he who humbles himself under God’s mighty hand, this is the one who wears the crown. So do not set your heart merely on obtaining this job as though that alone were blessing. For what if God, in His wisdom, sees that another path leads you nearer to eternal life? Would you then call it defeat? Often to be defeated in earthly terms is the best mode of victory for the soul.

Instead, pray as the Apostle teaches: to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, to walk worthily of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work. This is the victory worth seeking. You say, without Him you are nothing; cling to that truth, for humility is the head of all virtue, the mother of wisdom, the sacrifice acceptable to God. A contrite heart He will not despise. If you possess this, you possess all. Approach that interview not straining to outshine others for your own glory, but with lowliness of mind, trusting that the outcome, whatever it may be, is ordered by His love. Let your request be not simply that you excel, but that in all things His will be done and that you may be a faithful steward of whatever He entrusts to you, whether this employment or another.

True wisdom is not the clever speech of this age that comes to nothing. It is the knowledge of things divine and human: to cling to God and to hold the present life loosely, neither elated by prosperity nor shattered by disappointment. So go to your interview, giving thanks in all circumstances, not anxious over the result. Ask the Holy Spirit not merely to help you impress men, but to fill you with peace and to speak whatever accords with His purpose. If you win the post, give glory to God; if not, still give glory, knowing that He works all things for good. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even your faith. May God grant you this true victory, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
