We have heard your request and we join together to bring it before the Lord in Jesus' name. We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that there is salvation in no other name. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation, Rom 10:9-10. It is through His blood we find forgiveness and freedom.
We pray first for your freedom from sexual addiction. We understand you said there are reasons why you struggle, and we know the Lord sees those deep wounds, histories and hurts, for Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. Yet we must also speak the truth in love that sexual activity outside of marriage between one man and one woman is sin before God. The Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Cor 6:18. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's, 1 Cor 6:19-20. This addiction is not just a habit but a spiritual bondage that can be broken by repentance, confession and walking by the Spirit. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. We encourage you to bring this struggle into the light with a trusted mature Christian believer, pastor or biblical counselor, for confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed, James 5:16. Make no provision for the flesh, remove access to temptation, and pursue purity daily, for God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Cor 10:13.
We also pray for your freedom from maladaptive daydreaming. We understand this often comes as an escape from pain, loneliness or trauma, but God calls us to bring every thought into obedience to Christ, for we are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Cor 10:5 and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God, Rom 12:2. Daydreaming that replaces reality, feeds lust or fantasy, or consumes hours that God intends for purposeful living can become an idol and a stronghold. We pray that you will learn to take those moments of escape and turn them into prayer, Scripture meditation and true fellowship with God and others. Fill your mind with what is true, honorable, just, pure and lovely, Phil 4:8.
We join you in praying for the African American community. We agree that false teachings and wolves must be exposed and removed, for Jesus warned, Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves, Matt 7:15. It grieves us that many are led astray because the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts, 2 Tim 4:3. We pray that God will raise up faithful teachers and shepherds who preach the whole counsel of God, who rightly divide the word of truth, 2 Tim 2:15, and who lead people truly to repentance and faith in Christ alone, not to prosperity myths, cultural distortions or any other false gospel. We pray that God will remove those who exploit and harm the flock and protect the vulnerable from deception.
We also pray for healing and protection from racism and hatred. We know this pain is real and deep, and we know that God shows no partiality, Acts 10:34, for there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus, Gal 3:28. Every person is made in the image of God, Gen 1:27, and God commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves, Mark 12:31. Racism and hatred are evil and come from the enemy who seeks to divide and destroy, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, Eph 6:12. We pray that the Lord will be your shield and refuge, that He will keep you from all evil and preserve your soul, Psalm 121:7, and that no weapon that is formed against you will prosper, Isa 54:17. We also pray that you will be given grace to forgive as Christ forgave, and that you will overcome evil with good, Rom 12:21, while trusting God as your defender and just judge.
We now pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, asking for freedom, healing and truth. Lord, we lift up this dear one who is bound by sexual addiction and maladaptive daydreaming. We confess these as sins and strongholds and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Break these chains, Lord. Give a hatred for sin and a hunger for righteousness. Renew the mind, take every thought captive to Christ, and fill this heart with Your Holy Spirit so that walking by the Spirit there will be no fulfillment of the lust of the flesh, Gal 5:16. Bring godly accountability, community and counsel, and lead to complete wholeness. We pray that sexuality will be understood and lived only within the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman as You designed, and that You will prepare a godly marriage if it is Your will, or grant grace and purity in singleness for Your glory.
We pray for the African American community, that You would pour out truth, raise up faithful pastors and teachers who preach Christ crucified and risen, and expose and remove every wolf and false teacher who leads people astray or harms them. Let Your Word run swiftly and be glorified, 2 Thess 3:1. Bring healing from generations of wounds, protect Your people from racism and hatred from any source, comfort those who are weary, and let Your perfect love cast out fear, 1 John 4:18. Let the Church be one as You are one, displaying Your glory to a watching world.
We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, trusting that You hear us and will answer according to Your perfect will. Amen.
