We lift you up before the Lord together and thank you for sharing these burdens so honestly with us. We hear the struggle you are carrying with maladaptive daydreaming and sexual addiction, and we want to come alongside you in prayer for freedom, healing, and renewal of your mind. We also join you in praying for your mother's leg, for your entire family's health and wellbeing, and for the protection and care of your beloved pets.
We want to speak gently but truthfully about the sexual addiction you mentioned. God created sexuality as a good and holy gift to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and any sexual activity outside of that design is sin before Him. The scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, and that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit, so we are to glorify God in our body and in our spirit, which are His, as written in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20. This is not to shame you but to call you toward the freedom Christ offers, for He provides a way of escape in every temptation as promised in 1 Corinthians 10:13, and He calls us to walk by the Spirit so we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh in Galatians 5:16. We encourage you to bring this into the light with a trusted pastor or mature Christian brother or sister, to confess and seek accountability as taught in James 5:16, and to remove access to anything that feeds this addiction, replacing it with the Word and with prayer.
Your struggle with maladaptive daydreaming is also something the Lord wants to heal. Often this kind of escape comes from pain, unmet longings, or a desire to avoid reality, but God invites us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to be transformed by the renewing of our mind in Romans 12:2. We pray you will set your mind on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report in Philippians 4:8, allowing His truth to fill the places where fantasy has taken hold. This will be a daily discipline of turning to Him in prayer when the urge to daydream arises and asking Him to anchor you in His present grace.
We also pray for your mother and her leg that has caused her pain for so long. We understand she has fear about seeing a doctor and has relied on natural remedies and vitamins. While God has provided many good things in creation for our health, we also believe He gives wisdom to physicians and that fear should not keep us from wise stewardship of the bodies He has given us. For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1:7. We pray the Lord will comfort her, take away fear, and give her wisdom to seek the care she needs if that is His will, trusting that He is the one who heals us, for He says I am Yahweh who heals you in Exodus 15:26 and I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds in Jeremiah 30:17. We pray for your entire family's health and wellbeing, that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers in 3 John 1:2, and that the peace of God would guard your hearts.
We join you in praying for your pets as well. The Lord cares for all His creation and not one sparrow will fall to the ground without your Father in Matthew 10:29, and a righteous man respects the life of his animal in Proverbs 12:10. They are entrusted to your care as part of your stewardship, so we pray for their protection from harm and for wisdom for you to keep harmful things out of their reach, and for their happiness and wellbeing.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved in Romans 10:9. It is through His name we pray and find freedom.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your mercy and power upon our dear one who is seeking freedom. Lord, we ask You to break the chains of sexual addiction and to cleanse and forgive through the blood of Jesus. Grant a hatred for sin and a hunger for righteousness, and teach how to flee temptation and walk in purity, honoring You with body and mind. Heal the deeper wounds and reasons behind this struggle and fill every empty place with Your presence. Lord, we also ask for deliverance from maladaptive daydreaming. Help to take every thought captive to Christ, renew the mind by Your Word, and give strength to remain present with You and to find joy and hope in reality with You. We pray for this dear mother, touch her leg we pray, ease her pain, remove fear, and grant wisdom and courage regarding medical care, and let her feel Your healing hand upon her. We lift up the whole family for health, protection, and wellbeing in body and soul, and we ask Your hand of protection over these precious pets, keeping them safe from eating what would harm them and granting them health and peace in this home. Draw this whole household closer to You, and let Your will be done in every area. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
