urgently requesting prayer for big unspoken

Sciesser

Disciple of Prayer
I am urgently requesting prayer for huge problem in my life. I have ruined my marriage and may have ruined my career. Please help.

We hear the deep anguish in your words, and we come before the throne of grace with you in this moment of desperate need. The weight of regret and fear can feel crushing, but we serve a God who is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your marriage and your calling are precious to Him, and though the consequences of sin are real, His mercy is greater still.

First, we must address the root of this pain with honesty before God. Whatever choices led to this brokenness, whether unfaithfulness, deceit, anger, or neglect, we rebuke the enemy’s lies that you are beyond restoration. But we also must confront the sin that has caused this destruction. The Bible warns, "Be sure your sin will find you out" (Numbers 32:23), and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), not just physical death, but the death of trust, joy, and stability. Yet in the same breath, Scripture declares that the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. If you have not already, we urge you to fall on your knees in repentance, confessing your sins to God and to those you have wronged, for "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Your marriage is a covenant before God, not just a contract between two people. Malachi 2:16 tells us that God hates divorce, not because He delights in suffering, but because He designed marriage to reflect Christ’s love for the Church, a love that is sacrificial, faithful, and unbreakable. If there has been infidelity, pornography, emotional affairs, or any other violation of that covenant, we must call it what it is: sin. But we also cling to the promise that "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow" (Isaiah 1:18). Restoration is possible, but it will require humility, accountability, and a willingness to fight for your marriage as though it were a matter of life and death, because it is. Seek godly counsel from a pastor or Christian marriage counselor who can help you walk through repentance, forgiveness, and rebuilding trust. Do not try to fix this alone.

As for your career, we pray that God would make a way where there seems to be no way. Proverbs 22:29 reminds us that "do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings; he won’t serve obscure men." If your reputation has been damaged, commit your work to the Lord and ask Him to open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). But be prepared: restoration may not look like a return to what was, but a new path God is carving for you. Trust that He is able to "restore the years that the locust has eaten" (Joel 2:25).

Above all, we must ask: Have you surrendered your life fully to Jesus Christ? If not, this is the most urgent matter of all. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). There is no true healing, no lasting restoration, and no hope outside of Him. If you have never placed your faith in Him as your Lord and Savior, we beg you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and receive the free gift of eternal life. Only then can you experience the power of the Holy Spirit to transform your heart and guide your steps.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is broken and afraid. Lord, You see the depth of their pain, the weight of their regret, and the fear of what lies ahead. We ask that You would meet them in this moment with Your unfailing love. Forgive them, Lord, for the ways they have strayed from Your will. Cleanse them of all unrighteousness and restore to them the joy of Your salvation.

Father, we pray for their marriage. Where there has been brokenness, bring healing. Where there has been sin, bring repentance and forgiveness. Soften hearts and give them the strength to fight for this covenant as You designed it. Raise up godly counsel around them to guide them in rebuilding trust and intimacy. Let Your love be the foundation upon which they stand.

For their career, Lord, we ask that You would open doors that no man can shut. Restore what has been lost, and if it is Your will, grant them favor in the eyes of those who can help. Give them wisdom, integrity, and a renewed sense of purpose in their work. Let their labor be for Your glory.

Most of all, Lord, we pray that they would know You more deeply in this season. If they have never truly surrendered their life to You, draw them near. Let them experience the power of Your resurrection and the hope that comes from knowing You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit and lead them in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake.

We rebuke the enemy’s lies that say this situation is hopeless. We declare that You are the God who makes all things new, and we trust in Your power to redeem even this. Strengthen our brother/sister with Your might, and let them walk in the freedom and victory that is theirs in Christ Jesus.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

You are not alone in this. The road ahead may be difficult, but God is with you, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Take one step at a time, repentance, humility, and trust. We will continue to stand with you in prayer.

We are so glad you reached out, even when it feels like everything is unraveling at once. Carrying a sense that you have ruined both your marriage and your career is an incredibly heavy burden, and we want you to know you are not alone in it. We are praying for you right now.

When both marriage and work feel threatened at the same time, it can be hard to think clearly about either one. It helps to not try to fix everything at once.

One steady next step we would encourage is to reach out today to one safe, wise person who can walk with you in person, a pastor, a trusted counselor, or a mature mentor. You do not need to have all the answers before you talk to them. Just sharing honestly what has happened and where you feel stuck, rather than carrying this alone, can bring some clarity and keep you from making quick decisions while you are overwhelmed.

If your work situation feels fragile, it can also help to seek counsel before taking any major steps there, so you have support in thinking through what is wise and responsible.

We are holding both you and your marriage before the Lord, asking for honesty, humility, and clear direction in the days ahead.

Father, we lift this dear one to You in Jesus' name. You see the pain and fear around marriage and work, and You know every detail we do not. Grant comfort, wisdom for each next decision, and people nearby who will listen well and give godly counsel. Lead toward healing and restoration as You will, and give strength for today. Amen.
