Upcoming events

We hear your request and stand with you in seeking the Lord’s guidance regarding these upcoming events. While we understand the desire to avoid certain gatherings, we must first ask: Why do you wish not to attend? Is there fear, discomfort, conflict, or perhaps something else at play? The Lord calls us to walk in wisdom and discernment, but He also calls us to trust Him in all circumstances, even those that feel challenging.

Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." If these events involve ungodly influences, temptation, or compromise, we would strongly encourage you to seek the Lord’s strength to stand firm in faith rather than retreat. However, if the hesitation stems from anxiety, social discomfort, or avoidance of godly fellowship, we must gently rebuke that spirit of fear, for "God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7).

If these events involve unbelievers or environments where sin is celebrated, we would caution against participation, as Scripture warns, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Yet if these are gatherings of believers or opportunities to be a light in darkness, we should not shrink back but rather pray for courage to represent Christ well.

Let us pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we have access to You. Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your wisdom and discernment. If these events are not in alignment with Your will, we ask that You close the door and make a way of escape. But if You are calling this person to walk through them, grant them strength, boldness, and grace to be a witness for Your glory. Protect their heart from fear, compromise, or sin, and let Your peace guard their mind. Help them to trust in You completely, knowing that You work all things for the good of those who love You. We rebuke any spirit of avoidance or anxiety that does not come from You, and we declare that this one is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. May Your will be done in this matter, and may Your name be exalted. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen."

We encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer and Scripture, asking Him to reveal His purpose in this situation. If these events are unavoidable, ask Him to prepare your heart and use you as a vessel for His kingdom. If they are not His will, trust that He will provide a way out. Either way, remember that "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Stand firm in faith, and do not let fear dictate your steps.

It can be so unsettling to face an event that we just don’t want to attend. We’ve felt that knot in the stomach too, and we’re glad you shared this with us. There’s no judgment here, only a desire to pray with you and help you take this to the Lord in a way that brings clarity and calm.

Often, the hardest part isn’t the event itself but the wrestling inside. You’ve already taken a good step by naming the desire. Now, you might try something very simple: in a quiet moment, hold the two events before God, one at a time. Tell Him openly what you dread or why you’d rather be excused, and then ask, “Father, what do You want for me in this? If it’s Your will that I go, would You reshape my heart and supply the strength I don’t have? If there’s a way out that honors You, would You make it plain?” This isn’t about forcing an answer; it’s about anchoring your will in His, so that whatever comes, you’re not alone in it.

Sometimes relief arrives through a clear open door, a shift in schedule, a changed expectation. Other times, God leaves the event in place but transforms our dread into an unexpected gift: a conversation we didn’t know we needed, or a lesson in reliance on Him. We’ll be praying that He meets you precisely where you are, addresses the real source of your reluctance, and fills you with His peace no matter the outcome.

Let’s pray briefly now.

Lord Jesus, our sister (or brother) has laid these upcoming events before You. You know every detail, the pressure, the fear, the weariness. Give wisdom and, if it pleases You, make a way to be excused. But if You call her to attend, then be her quiet strength. Replace anxiety with a deep sense that You go with her. Let her rest tonight in Your care. We ask this in Your name, Amen.

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right Hand" (Isaiah 41:10)

I prayed with you for this, in Jesus' powerful Name, Amen.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight".

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In Jesus name. Amen

The more talk we get from the mouth of faith, the better, her lips drop sweet-smelling myrrh! Yet here is a request that reveals a silent groaning, a hidden desire to escape appointed gatherings. Let us remember that our afflictions, even these vexing events, may come with even greater certainty from the Lord, and may be the necessary outcome of His special love to us. For this reason we may wisely moderate our anger against second causes, and say, “The will of the Lord be done.” If it is not of the Lord, then it is a matter for despair; but how can a trial be met which is independent of Divine rule?

Surely there is nothing better than to perceive that our smarts and sorrows come from our Father’s hand. The Lord has looked down from the height of His sanctuary to hear the groaning of the prisoner, and with Him, to hear means to answer. But His answer may not be the removal you seek; it may be deliverance in the midst of the trial. It is not killing, but curing, that God means when He takes the sharp lancet in His hands. I beseech you, then, to strive together with me in your prayers, not merely to avoid the outward circumstance, but that you may be delivered from all fear and rebellion within it. If He has delivered you from the power of darkness, what will He not do for you? This prayer will hold you up, “Lord, help me!”, and you shall find Him a present help, either by opening the door to escape or by giving you the peace to endure, for His mercy endures forever.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask prayer to be spared two upcoming events, yet consider whether this petition springs from love of ease or from a righteous desire to flee sin. For the day’s own trouble is sufficient, and to borrow anxiety about tomorrow is to multiply affliction without cause. Why do you dread what you have not yet met? If the gatherings are occasions of vanity, idle talk, or temptations that wound the soul, then indeed it is wisdom to avoid them, and I would pray that God open a door of escape. But if you shrink merely from the weariness of company or the mild discomfort of duty, then know that patience in such small trials is the yoke of Christ, which is light and sweet, while the restlessness of avoidance often becomes a heavier burden than the thing feared.

Examine your heart. Do you seek to be excused because you love quiet more than you love your neighbor, or because those events endanger your soul’s health? The angels go about their service without retinue or applause; a gentlewoman is known not by multitudes of attendants but by a contented spirit. If you attend, go with few desires and without anxious display, and you will find the burden light. But if these events truly involve sin, do not merely pray for avoidance, pray for courage to refuse firmly, though it cost you. Let your conduct be ordered not by fear of man but by sincerity before God. I pray then that you be delivered from whatever would defile, and for whatever remains, that you bear it with such grace that your very presence becomes a silent reproof to worldliness. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble; cast the care of tomorrow upon the Lord, and walk with a quiet mind.
