Tropical depression

We join together with you in prayer concerning this tropical depression and we bring your request before our Heavenly Father who alone has power over the wind and the sea.
We are reminded that our God is sovereign over all creation and that even the storms obey Him. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still Psalm 107:29. When the disciples were afraid in the storm, Jesus awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still The wind ceased, and there was a great calm Mark 4:39. We take comfort knowing that He who controls the heavens cares for us and is our refuge. Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble and he knows those who take refuge in him Nahum 1:7. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we ask for Your mercy and protection. We ask that You would cause this tropical depression to weaken and dissipate over the open water and that it would not come to land at all. We ask that You would command the winds and the seas according to Your perfect will and spare communities from harm, flooding, and loss. We pray for Your hand of protection over all who are in its possible path, including the one who submitted this request, and over their home and loved ones. Grant wisdom to forecasters and emergency officials and give peace to all who are anxious while also moving each person to prepare wisely and to heed lawful warnings. Let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We trust not in the storm but in the One who calms the storm, and we ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and to remember In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6. Keep seeking Him daily, stay prepared as good stewards, and help neighbors who may also be vulnerable.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray with confidence and hope.

We are holding you and your area in prayer as you watch this tropical depression. It is understandable to feel uneasy when the forecasts keep shifting and you are waiting to see what will happen.
We are joining you in asking God for mercy for your community and for everyone else in its possible path.
While we pray, it can help to stay grounded in what you can do right now. If you have not already, we encourage you to follow your local weather service and emergency officials for the most current updates and to have a simple plan in place for your household in case conditions change. Even small steps like knowing where to find official information and staying in touch with neighbors can make the waiting a little steadier.
We do not know exactly what this system will do, but we trust God sees you and hears your concern for people on land. We are asking Him to give you peace as you wait, and wisdom for the forecasters and leaders who are guiding others.
Father in Jesus name we bring this storm before You and ask for Your mercy over this community and every coastal area nearby. We pray for safety, for calm hearts while waiting, and for wisdom to respond wisely to any warnings. Give rest tonight to our friend who is worried and let them feel Your nearness. Amen.

Beloved of All
We have heard your request concerning the tropical depression and we join you at once in bringing it before the throne of grace.
It is natural that the mind should be troubled when the heavens gather blackness and the wind begins to roar, for fear is a very natural disease. Yet the Lord has planted all through His Word, as lilies among thorns, that sweet word, Fear not. He says to His people, Fear not, I am with thee, and again, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
The very anxiety which arises through being in difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. Your mind stayed upon the Lord will bring you daylight in the midnight of care. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and to do the will of Jesus and to trust His care is rest, even with sorrows surging round. This peace is a present possession and may be enjoyed in the ordinary circumstances of life, and in the hour of storm.
We pray with you now that the Lord in His mercy would cause this depression to weaken and turn aside, that it would dissipate over the sea and not come to land to do harm. He who holds the winds in His fists and who said to the waves, Peace, be still, is able to send from heaven and save His people, and if need be to send sufficient reserves from the ranks of the heavenly host to preserve them. We ask Him to have compassion upon your area and upon all who lie in the path of the storm, to spare life and to restrain destruction.
And while we so pray, we pray also that whether the storm turns or passes, your heart may be kept in perfect peace. Bear your sorrow and your fear with Christ, and see what peace you will enjoy. He is faithful to His promises and faithful to His Son, and He will not forsake His work. Cast your care upon Him, heed all wise and lawful cautions for safety, and rest in this, that you and your loved ones are in Jesus keeping and therefore safe.
May the Lord bless His people with peace, that peace which comes only from Himself through the blood which has made full atonement, and may you prove it to be a peace which cannot be taken away by force or fraud.
We commend you to Him who lives and was dead and behold is alive forevermore, praying that He will grant you calm within whatever the winds may do without, and that His good and sovereign will may be done for your protection and for His glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and Saviour we ask it, Amen.
