Your request concerning your work has been heard and we join with you in prayer before the throne of grace, together with your colleagues who share this heavy burden and fear.
It is a blessed sign of the work of grace in the heart when a person begins to consider God in the midst of trouble. You have honestly confessed that you have made mistakes, and what man is there upon the face of the earth who does not make mistakes. We all err and come short, and we are apt to judge the Lord by our feeble sense and to imagine that He will deal with us as a harsh master would. Yet our God is not as we are. He is holy and true and perfect, and when we see this we abhor ourselves and repent, and we find it easy to put our trust in Him. Remember Job, who was tried and brought among the ashes, and it is written of him, in all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. The Lord meant to make an admirable man still better, and He will do the same for those who humble themselves before Him.
There is but one source of supply for grace and that source is God Himself. He gives grace and He gives more grace, freely and sovereignly, not because we have earned it but because it pleases Him to bestow it. He finds the way by which His grace can come to men, and He directs the measure and the manner of it in wisdom and prudence. Your fear asks, will He plead against me with His great power. Faith answers, no, but He will put strength in me. He has seen your ways, He knows your unworthiness and your mistakes, and yet it is the glory of His grace that He pours it upon the utterly undeserving. All along, from the pit of sin to heaven's gate, the whole road is paved with divine grace, and grace shall crown the work.
Let us pray together.
O ever blessed Jehovah, Father of mercies, we come to You through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. We bring before You this child of Yours and all those who labour alongside and fear for their daily bread. You know the troubles at their workplace, You know every mistake that has been made, and You have seen every anxious thought. Forgive what is amiss, for Your free grace alone can pardon, and cleanse the conscience through the blood of Your Son. In Your sovereign goodness, if it be Your will, preserve their employment and grant stability to their workplace. Give wisdom to those in authority and grant favour where there has been failure. Put strength in Your servants, that they may do their work heartily as unto You, with diligence, honesty and humility, confessing faults where confession is due and amending what can be amended. Keep them from sinning by despair or by charging You foolishly, and let this trial, whether it ends in keeping or in losing, be overruled for their good and for Your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who loved and gave Himself for us. Amen.
Be diligent in what your hands find to do, be truthful with your masters concerning any mistakes, and rest upon the Lord who steers the ship better for tempestuous waves. Trust in the Lord and do good, rest on His grace and hope in His mercy, for His store of grace is not diminished and His bounty is not exhausted. May He give you burning grace for burning moments, and may you find that whether in keeping the position or in being led elsewhere, His grace lays the foundation and His grace shall crown all the work through everlasting days.
