Beloved of All
I'm afraid of losing my new job. I keep making little mistakes which is unintentional on my part. One of my new co workers does not like me. Please pray that I stop making little mistakes and I don't lose my job. Thank you.

We hear your heart and we join with you in prayer over this new job and the anxiety you are feeling. It is understandable to feel afraid when you are learning something new and want to do well, and we want to lift you up before the Lord who sees your diligence and your desire to be faithful.

The Lord calls us to work heartily as unto Him and not merely to please people, for it is from Him that our true reward and security comes. Colossians 3:23 says, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. And Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. We encourage you to commit each task, even the small details, to the Lord in prayer before you begin, asking for wisdom and focus, and to be diligent to double check your work when possible. James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. God is gracious to give wisdom for the work of our hands.

We also understand the added burden of feeling disliked by a coworker. Jesus calls us to respond with grace even when others are difficult toward us. Matthew 5:44 says, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. We encourage you to pray for this coworker, to show kindness and humility, and to not repay unkindness with unkindness. Romans 12:18 says, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Your gentle and faithful conduct can be a testimony.

We also want to gently share that fear and anxiety, though very real, are not from the Lord. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. And Philippians 4:6-7 says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Your job is important, but your ultimate provision and worth are secure in God. Matthew 6:33 says, But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Even if mistakes happen, God can use them to teach and refine you, and Romans 8:28 assures us that all things work together for good for those who love God.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with God. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and have confidence that God hears us.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to You. You see the fear of losing this new job and the discouragement over small mistakes. We ask that You grant peace to calm this anxious heart and replace fear with confidence in Your provision. Grant wisdom, focus, and steadiness in every task, that the work of their hands would be done with excellence for Your glory. Help them to learn quickly, to be attentive to detail, and to grow in skill and favor with those in authority. We pray for favor in the workplace and for a softened heart in the coworker who shows dislike, that You would bring peace and even reconciliation where there is tension. Let Your love be seen through their actions. We pray for job security according to Your will, trusting that You are the true provider who opens doors no one can shut. Guard this heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring each workday to the Lord in prayer, to do your best with humility and teachability, to ask for help when you are unsure, and to rest in knowing that God holds your future. Isaiah 41:10 says, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We are standing with you and trusting God to establish the work of your hands.

We hear how much pressure you are carrying into work each day, wanting so much to do well and worried that every small slip might cost you the job. It makes sense you would feel on edge, especially when you sense a coworker is not warm toward you.

New roles almost always include a learning curve, and little mistakes early on do not mean you are failing. They are often just part of getting used to new systems and expectations.

One small practice that helps many people in a new position is to keep a pocket notebook or a single list on your phone. When you get instructions, jot them down in your own words, and give yourself a minute before you turn something in to look it over once more. If you can, ask your supervisor for a quick five minute check in at the end of the week to ask what you are doing well and what you could adjust. That shows you care and gives you clearer direction than trying to guess.

We are praying for steadiness and peace for you at work.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the effort being made and the worry about this job. Grant calm and clear focus for each task, favor with supervisors and coworkers, and wisdom for each day. Provide for every need and guide the steps ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your fear has been laid before the Lord and I have taken it to heart with you. You ask, will He plead against me with His great power because of these little mistakes, and will my place be taken from me. It is the inquiry of fear which many have known, and the answer of faith is still the same, No, but He will put strength in you.

You are not alone in making mistakes, for what man is there who does not make them. We all err and come short, and we are prone to think that God will deal with us as man deals with us. But the Lord is not as an ungenerous master who watches to condemn. He is holy and true, and when we see His perfection we abhor ourselves and yet we find it easy to put our trust in Him, for His power which we once feared becomes our refuge and our hope.

Hear the word which was spoken to Jacob when he felt himself as a worm, Fear not, for I will help thee, saith the Lord. Fear is weakening and it dishonors God when we doubt that the arm which piled the heavens shall sustain us in our daily labor. Labor then to get rid of fear, not by your own resolve alone, but by trust in promised strength. God can uphold you as He upheld Job, who in all his trial sinned not nor charged God foolishly. He can keep your heart right toward Him even when a fellow worker looks upon you with disfavor, and He can give you favor where you have found coldness.

I will pray for you that the Lord will put steadiness into your hands and clearness into your mind, that He will help you to be diligent and watchful in the duties of your new place, to learn quickly and to do all as unto Him and not unto men. I will pray that He will guard your employment and provide for your daily bread according to His wisdom, and that if it be His will you may be established and not cast out. I will pray also that He will give you grace toward the coworker who does not like you, that you may not fear man which bringeth a snare, but show meekness and faithfulness, committing your cause to Him who judges righteously.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, and give you fresh strength for each day. Cast your care upon Him, be faithful in little things, and trust Him to do what is best.

Praying for you and your job situation.
We all make mistakes and sometimes we need to slow ourselves down, not to hurry; makes it easier to focus on our tasks. Praying that tomorrow will be a better day for you and even better as the days pass by - Praying for you in the name of Jesus.

May the Lord calm this worker's fear of losing their job, sharpen their focus to prevent mistakes, and soften their co-worker's heart. May God grant them favor and job security. Amen.
